This was another really satisfying episode where production design, story, pacing, and character all come together like a good meal.

Regarding Boba, he fits nicely into the Stars Wars learner archetype. I look forward to watching him continue to grow into his father’s armor.

Regarding Asajj, I love the possibilities of her new “future.” Essentially, she is the first cannon ronin force user. As such, her destiny is to wander the universe and involve herself in various adventures which she will resolve according to her own complicated code of morality. (Jules from Pulp Fiction would be jealous.) She has become the Star Wars equivalent of Kurosawa's Sanjuro and Leone’s Man with No Name. Awesome.

A very enjoyable episode to watch. It might be my favorite in terms of a mix of story and animation. I'm glad to see that they continue to improve in all areas as the series goes on, especially as far as animation goes. I have yet to find anything on tv to match it. One of the few benefits of catching this episode on CN was that I was able to compare it to the animation before and after. Nothing comes close. Even the computer generated stuff looks like cut scenes from an N64 compared to this show.

I agree with everything that's been said about Asajj earlier in this thread. I have come to view her as the "darkside" equivalent to Ahsoka in terms of character progression throughout this series. She really seemed to be a one-trick pony the first two seasons. But ever since Katie Lucas took over writing her episodes she's really grown in depth of character. It's also interesting that she's so far the one character in this show that's been both a Jedi apprentice and a Sith apprentice. Now it looks like she will settle somewhere in the middle, and suddenly I'm not so convinced that she'll be killed off by the end of this series.

It was nice to see Boba in his new threads. I wasn't planning on seeing him in Jango's armor quite yet, but I thought he'd be wearing something much closer to what he'll eventually end up in. It was also cool to see him sporting his dad's pistols. Did anyone else feel like they've seen his helmet somewhere else before? The closest I can come is Starkiller's helmet from the darkside alternate ending in The Force Unleashed. If anyone has a better source (say, concept art from the movies) let me know.



PS: I hope I wasn't the only one packing a bowl in honor of the episode number. The colors, man. The colors.

Loved the space elevator. And the train made for a very cool set piece (but then again, when hasn't a train made for a cool set piece?). There was one sweeping, lengthy camera move at the start of the train sequence, introducing where all the bounty hunters were stationed, that I found particularly memorable.

About Ventress's change in character, it was definitely unexpected and makes her future episodes all the more potentially compelling. I liked E_CHU_TA!'s comparison to Jules in Pulp Fiction. Heh.

Also, I guess this marks the first incarnation of ninjas in official Star Wars canon.
