I don't have time to write about this in detail right now, but I think what's behind the link is self-explanatory for anyone remotely familiar with classic LucasArts games:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/667 ... -adventure

In short, Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert - the guys behind the most classic adventure games of all time (Monkey Island 1&2, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango etc.) have returned to the long neglected genre to make an original title. Also - rather unusually for a major video game company - they are funding the project via crowd-sourcing. So far it got backed 50% in a matter of hours.

As a massive fan of the old LucasArts adventure games (who now keeps making little indie adventure games of his own), I'm incredibly excited about this. And I'm spreading the word thinking I might find a couple of other LucasArts fans in here.

I saw this about an hour ago and am still FREAKING OUT. I put down $100 and possibly more... but several hours in and they've already met almost 3/4 of their goal. Adventure gaming is not dead, it seems.
