UPDATE SEPTEMBER 8 2011; (zappa1977: To those who want to know the Yoda-Qui-Gon deleted scene is a animatic with no dialogue from either Frank Oz or Liam Neeson).

New rumor floating that ROTS has indeed newly recorded Liam Neeson and Frank Oz exchange ... THAT I would be up for.

After listening to the clip of Krayt Dragon is it just me or does it sound like they might've recycled the noise from that weird lizardy thing that Obi Wan rode around on in ROTS?

It sounds like its a recycled "Boga" sound with some choral elements from the soundtrack thrown in. The middle reverb seems like its a choral element from one of the themes (Duel of the Fates or maybe the Swimming to Gunga City?) mixed into it.

It just sounds weird and takes me out of that scene. Obiwan must have some set of pipes to make that kinda noise. The "Nooo" thing same thing ... it doesn't add anything, it just takes me out of the scene.

One thing I also just noticed when I was skimming through the HD was that in ANH, when Luke sees Obi Wan and Vader dueling from across the gantry, you can see that the Obi Wan that Vader is dueling is just the dummy cloak with the lightsaber sticking out of it. It's literally a quick scene, but it sticks out in HD. If anyone else noticed that let me know. One little thing that could have been fixed, but wasn't.

More and more this seems like kind of another half assed release.

I think that's exactly what it's supposed to be.

Then you have "artwork" of OT Boba Fett riding a prequel Boga inside the Blu-ray package.

In the movie proper or as a deleted scene?

The Lucasfilm promo piece listed it as a deleted scene, I believe. If it's actually being added to the movie itself, that's the kind of change I can get behind (because it actually explains the concept of Force ghosts).

I saw it listed as a deleted scene, that it was incorporated into Revenge of the Sith and that Liam Neeson and Frank Oz were involved.

This would be puzzling, because from what I heard this scene was intended to be part of the movie and Liam Neeson ended up not being available for filming, so they tried to do it with animation and someone else doing his voice, but it looked bad and it was scrapped.

So it's possible that:

Liam Neeson came back and filmed the scene and it was incorporated. or filmed the scene and it's a deleted scene. or it's incorporated and the original version is in the deleted scenes as well or this is BS, and the deleted scene that was scrapped is on the BluRay.

I seriously doubt Liam Neeson would take time out to shoot bonus material. And it seems that is all the scene is, an extra. It'll be Matt Wood doing an Irish accent...

He could of done the voice work for this new scene when he did the clone wars voice work or even could of filmed something. I think it would be cool to be added in ROTS but i doubt it will be.

Well, either way, he won't have filmed anything - the scene is just Yoda communicating with Qui-Gon's disembodied voice.

That's how it was scripted, and QGJ never disappeared in dying/became a Force ghost etc etc.

Reminder - Neeson did work recently on The Clone Wars. Those few lines of ROTS dialog could have been recorded, during those sessions.

222 INT. POLIS MASSA-OBSERVATION DOME-NIGHT
On the isolated asteroid of Polis Massa, YODA meditates.

YODA
Failed to stop the Sith Lord, I have.
Still much to learn, there is ...

QUI -GON (V.O.)
Patience. You will have time. I did not.
When I became one with the Force I made
a great discovery. With my training, you will
be able to merge with the Force at will.
Your physical self will fade away, but
you will still retain your consciousness.
You will become more powerful
than any Sith.

YODA
Eternal consciousness.

QUI-GON (V.O.)
The ability to defy oblivion can be achieved,
but only for oneself. It was accomplished by a
Shaman of the Whills. It is a state acquired
through compassion, not greed.

YODA
... to become one with the Force,
and influence still have...
A power greater than all, it is.

QUI-GON (V.O.)
You will learn to let go of everything.
No attachment, no thought of self.
No physical self.

YODA
A great Jedi Master, you have become,
Qui-Gon Jinn. Your apprentice I gratefully become.

YODA thinks about this for a minute, then BAIL ORGANA enters the room and breaks his meditation.

BAIL ORGANA
Excuse me, Master Yoda.

It's just Matt Wood screaming into a microphone and editing it. The intention was to make it sound more human.

I am wondering if it is a modified version of a sound from one of the old mixes they went through.

Then, at least I would understand where the idea to incorporate it came from. If it isn't, I just don't see the point in changing it.

After Shaak Ti's death at the hands of Grievous was cut there was another death scene filmed during pickups where Anakin was to kill her during the raid on the Jedi Temple. So she had two death scenes not make the cut.

Originally there was supposed to be Clones disguised as Jedi guarding the Temple ready to pick off the unsuspecting stragglers who returned to the Temple after Order 66. This was cut and replaced with Yoda and Obi Wan fighting the armored Clones in the final.

So here's a thought: Since it looks like Lucas isn't going to add this scene back into the film, this leaves ROTS as the one film in the saga to have not received any changes post release beyond a minor scene transition which was discussed here way back in '05 when the original DVD was released. Does this mean then that ROTS is the purest representation of what Star Wars is in George's mind?

What are you talking about?! He probably filmed alternative scenes during the shot for the express reason to add them back in later.

Whether he's done or so or not, my point is: he hasn't incorporated any changes to ROTS and it has remained unaltered since its release. To me that says in his mind, as of this release, ROTS is "finished."

Perhaps we're lucky enough that the Nooooo! was moved from ROTS to ROTJ.

Or we just have to wait for Jett or Amy Lucas to take over the franchise.

That's real? Yoda looks closer to his original appearance there than any other scene in the prequels. I completely prefer the puppet, but I find that image slightly bone-chilling considering the likeness to the Stuart Freeborn version we all grew up with. A "what could have been" kind of feeling. It also has less of the CGI look I can't get past in the majority of II and III.

Also, on the subject of Yoda in Phantom, Mr. Oz voiced him quite differently in that one. He sounds more Grover-like. There was a noticeable change to the performance in Episodes II and III, which were a bit closer to the OT voice. I'm surprised the dialogue wasn't re-recorded for Phantom, though.

My friend, yes really my friend lol, said there were no subs included for alien parts in the OT trilogy that leaked and he was able to get some but can't find english subs for alien parts only for the prequel trilogy that leaked. Anyone got a link they can post for them, or they not up anywhere yet?

He said the OT subs for non-english parts are up on opensubtitles.org but not the PT. Thanks.

Animatics for a scene that consists of Yoda talking to the voice of Qui-Gon? For a scene that is all about the dialogue?

I'm sold!

No, you aren't alone. The peek behind the curtain and at the cutting room floor works for me too. I don't expect them to spend millions finishing scenes they decided not to include in the film itself. If they do, then great, but seeing how things were shot and the clunky nature of reality merging with the film-world is always interesting to me.

A whole scene we thought we'd only see in the ROTS 'script-leak', on display as an animatic? Fine by me. Never thought it would happen in live action anyways, since Neeson is reportedly too 'high-brow' for Star Wars now.

Thanks a lot to quad73 for sharing! Watch it in whatever order you want, and thanks for the info.

Part of the disappointment for me with the Yoda/Qui-Gon scene is that Neeson did record a Qui-Gon voiceover last year for the Clone Wars so there was at least an opportunity to complete that part of the scene.

Yeah, but it's a scene where one character sits stock-still in the middle of a room for 40 seconds having an internal dialogue, presented in rough animation (guessing limited or no character work done) without dialogue - really, you're happy with that as an animatic? Why the hell even bother, just put up a 5 year-old's crayon drawing of Yoda for the same runtime as the clip and you've got pretty much the whole experience right there.

And as above, obviously he's not too high-brow as he recorded Qui-Gon for last year's CW episode. Why the hell not just slip him a page and say "while you're at it, Liam, read this will you."? Stupid, wasted opportunity to add something that actually might benefit the film.

I agree, im not happy about it ethier. Liam made it seem like he at least has accepted his place in star wars when speaking to entertainment weekly this past January:

Neeson tells EW he wanted to return to Star Wars because he felt that: "these characters resonate…even after all these years.” - “Growing up, my heroes were cowboys; they were strong and mysterious, and it seemed like they always rode off into the sunset. For kids today, Star Wars has that same kind of magic. I really wanted to be a part of that.”

It seems it would be easy for them to slip him a page, unless he just flat out refused but why would he if he is already recording dialogue for the clone wars.

I think they didn't even asked him to do it. Why would they, if it's just a deleted scene? But then again, that scene would be in the movie if it wasn't for his accident back in 2004/5.

See, from dissent comes knowledge. I didn't know Neeson recorded any dialogue or gave a shit about Star Wars (and I doubt I'm completely alone) because I don't read the Clone-Wars info. That show cramps my brain with it's squinty eyed cuteness, and I don't get that channel. I'm saving watching the DVD's for after the apocalypse, when there isn't any new [s]porn[/s] TV to watch.

So now I know, and half the battle and all that. In light of these new facts, I feel ripped off too. Fuckers.

I'm surprised that they didn't include the conversation between Padme and Obi-Wan in her apartment for a ROTS deleted scene or the conversation between Palpatine and Anakin in the office building hall about gossip. These were two scenes with the four principal actors in them, but were passed over for animatics.

Oh, I seriously doubt he gives a shit about Star Wars; they just drove the figurative truck full of money up to his house to record like a minute of dialogue (did he even go into the studio, or did he record over the phone?), hard to blame the guy for that regardless of whatever his feelings are really about the movies.

What, did the accident break his jaw? Confine him to a Christopher Pike style wheelchair which couldn't fit into the studio? Seem dubious at best; if he had had any interest in recording that one 40 second conversation he would have done it. Bets on he told Lucas to go Fuck himself in '04 after a shitty experience in TPM.

Lucas not being directly responsible, enough time passing since, and the aforementioned truck full of money for minimal time spent on his part may have softened his outlook a bit.

What the?! Do you know that people, when injured, go to the hospital? And when the injury is serious (like it was), they stay there for a while? The fact that he didn't break his jaw doesn't mean he could go out and play anything that doesn't involve walking.

Seriously, that kind of comment is ridiculous... When has he ever stated that he had a shitty experience in TPM? What he always said shows quite the opposite.

There is reaction because some people got the idea that Liam Neeson would be voicing Qui-Gon Jinn over the cover title (YODA COMMUNES WITH QUI-GON) and Liam doing voicework for the New Clone Wars.

The storm created by this set is a action-adventure movie in itself. Beginning with the selling points: 90 minutes of Star Wars Spoofs and that one movie about fans.

I can't believe they missed this opportunity to finish off, what I believe to be, such a crucial part of the Star Wars saga. That scene is so important and highlights the fact, that the Sith can never achieve immortality and explains why to the audience.

I'm all for blinking Ewoks and enhanced scenes - I can even deal with Vader's "Nooo" but for fuck's sake inserting a random Dug into Jabba's Palace, is no way as important as finishing off the Qui-Gon/Yoda scene; no fucking way!

I'm not going to let it ruin my viewing experience this Wednesday, but if there are any ILM/LFL people lurking here, what the hell are you guys thinking?! Fix it for the 3D version - if we get that far, that is :|

If?!

I'd say it's a slam dunk that it'll happen. They've already targeted a 2015 date, assuming that the 3D standard is set by then.
