These are faked or real?

There are some people on Aint It Cool News that say these might have been faked to rial people up. I mean it's very possible they could have been but at the same time I wouldn't put it past Lucas to make these type of changes. The "No" and "Nooooo" do sound very identical to the ROTS version. I'm sure it wouldn't have been difficult for someone else to edit the audio in at those points.

BTW Jeff Bond, who has done a lot of liner notes for the limited edition score releases has confirmed that these changes ARE real. He has a friend who has connections in Lucasfilm and he got confirmation on them.

This is just damn irritating to know that Lucas once again has done minuscule changes like this to the films. If these get re-released again on Blu-Ray later down the road I bet things will once again get changed. Adding the "No" and "Noooo!" to the Luke and Emperor scene just totally kills the mood for that sequence, quite literally.

I'm still going to be getting these but god damn it Lucas, enough is enough!

Something just occurred to me about the whole real vs fake thing.

If it is an elaborate hoax by a fan editor, using the HDTV broadcasts or something, wouldn't that glitch thing still be there? What is it again? Humdinger glitch? I'm sure you know the one I mean. Or is that something that's easy to get rid of? If not, maybe somebody could check to see if it's present and accounted for.



LFL made a point of saying they removed it after it was pointed out at Comic Con so it's presence or lack thereof could go a long way towards proving or disproving the legitimacy of the leak.

Well the "Nooo" is the ROTS "Nooo" with a filter thrown on it. That's easy to do. The eyes...well Adywan managed to animate the eyes of several aliens in his ANH edit and the pan can be done in Final Cut without much hassle.

The Dug and the rocks would certainly be more complicated but not beyond the realms of possibility. It's also interesting that there's no PT leak. We know for a fact that Yoda is a cg character in TPM and for a hoaxer to do that would definitely be too much and there's the framing issue for TPM to consider. So if the leak is fake, that may explain why there's no sign of the PT as of yet.

I'm actually leaning towards a hoax myself but I'm not committing one way or another. It could be real. It probably is and I don't want to admit it but it's certainly not impossible for a hoaxer to accomplish.

What Ady did with the cantina creatures was totally different to what we're seeing here. He used an animated deform to pinch and pull the image into blinks.

What we're seeing here is a new digital eye created and tracked into the shot (notice I said "shot" - from that clip I'm not convinced it's been done across every Ewok shot, not even within that one sequence.

It looks to me like it's missing in most of the shots which make it up). Harder to do, and honestly I think the tracking job on what has been done there is very nice, but as I said, do-able. But why? It's just going to get debunked in a day or so if i's a fake.

Actually that would be incredibly easy to fix... basically you would simply clone the bottom of the previous frame and lay it over the glitch, and viola' it's gone.

The quality of the video is too good for them to be fake. I have the 1080 HBO versions from my TiVo and these are far better.

I can't see anyone making fan edits, at least of the video, with that much detail.

The audio on the other hand, that can easily be added in, but there are a few places where I don't think they're fake.

Yes, and that's what I said before this became two threads - conceivably everything we've seen and heard could have been hoaxed. Wider framing in TPM, not so much. Which is why I find is very curious that TPM has not dropped anywhere...very curious...
