Can they now add Ric Olie in at that point too? He could run in and say: "Darth Vader has turned against his master - I guess he did love his son after all!"

Seriously?

I mean fucking seriously?

Did ILM REALLY just specifically make a big deal out of fixing light sabers, post up screenshots and then NOT actually bother to do it consistently?

Seriously? ARE THEY MENTALLY FUCKING RETARDED?

It's 2011, this is the biggest blu-ray release in the history of fucking blu-ray and they fuck it up like this?

They literally promised to FIX shit {that should never have been broken to begin with} and then have the balls to basically just do it half ass as if making a motherfucking light saber blue is soooo hard. A 100 fan editors have done it just fine in after effects. They did it themselves on the damn dvd menu screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this leak is legit then ILM truly sucks wet cock, they should all be fired and they should all be ashamed of themselves. This pos release will collect dust before I drop a dime on it.

I'm not even going to bother mentioning Vader's fucking "nooooooooooooooo"s and the asshole krayt dragon bullshit which sounds like a half dead dog being shoved through a meat grinder.

These cocksuckers LIED to us. We ask for some simple color timing fixes and consistent light sabers and they turn around and add in CG eyes, retarded krayt dragon calls and more "noooooooos"

I just canceled my pre-order.

Don't forget rocks around R2! it was always his intention to have rocks around R2 there but dammit, rocks are heavy and we needed to wait until we could make believable fake rocks.

Is this the new Jabba's door pan that people are talking about? I honestly can't remember - haven't watched these after HDTV rips came out.

This is like Star Wars bizzaro world.

DP, you need a press pass or some shit to represent the non-cock-sucking SW fans at some of these events. This stuff has literally gotten out of control.

I really don't think I'm going to buy the blu-ray set. I can't believe I would ever have said this.

Even when I don't like these new pointless changes, I still really like the "1080p detail" you can see in CHD's 1080p samples and screenshots. I'm certainly going to get these as discs.

With this quality, I would have been perfectly happy if they just had fixed those god damn lightsabers. :|

Yeah, not only is it completely unnecessary, it doesn't actually jive visually. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the perspective doesn't work as it pans and zooms into what was originally a completely static shot.

I almost want these gems to keep coming. I'm past caring now - finding out about another 100 little changes like this would keep me entertained all night at least.

YES.

Can't get the Jabba door pan vid to work - is there a particular codec or something needed to play it once you've renamed it it .mkv?

I think for all the nerd rage going on here today, the nerd depression begins tomorrow morning, when we all wake up and realize this is not all a dream and LFL is really really confused about what people like--and pay for--when it comes to star wars.

I agree that (after all the hype) it’s disappointing to find out that the saber effects still aren’t what they should be. I also don’t appreciate being teased with a potential reversal on the cantina shootout.

That being said, the additions don’t bother be so far. I like the added no’s in Jedi.

Has Boba’s reverse image in Jabba’s Palace been corrected?

This is pretty terrible.

I expected them to just reuse the 04 transfers, but this "nOOOOOOooo" shit is beyond the pale.

I'm convinced now that George is trolling the fan base. I mean, the "NOOOOOooo" in RotS is probably one of the most lambasted moments in that movie, yet George decides to make it his catchphrase? How the fuck else do you explain that?

I imagine Ric Olie will be narrating the next release.

I'll stick with fan edits and preservations, thank you very much.

Well, the obvious motivation for Lucas here is to make sure that the ROTS scene and the ROTJ scene "rhyme".

Adding the two "No"'s to the Luke and Emperor scene there in Jedi is as bad as adding the Emperor yell when Luke fell down that shaft in the actual theatrical version of the 97' Special Editions.

I now want George to go batshit crazy with these and just add everything.

I want CGI Taun-Tauns and AT-ATs, I want a Rancor that emotes and curls his brow at Luke, I want to see Jar Jar passed out shitfaced at the Cantina while a big new musical number plays, I want a Shmi gravesite at Owen's farm, I want Qui Gon as a force ghost at the end of Jedi, I want a jumping-running-flipping Yoda while he trains Luke scene and I want those claymation monster chess pieces on the Falcon to be CGI.

Do it Lucas, I know you want to after all of this.

No, they haven't fixed that. It is still missing. Also, at the end when the Death Star Tannoy says "stand by.." twice, well this is buried so deep in the mix it is now barely audible.

Haven't been on this site in years, just came back to say...

FUCKING LOL!! Keep up the good work Lucas. And keep posting updates of all the asinine changes, guys. So I can laugh at them without having to buy the set. And I'll wait for someone to release an unfuckified fan version.

Those Ewok eyes might be the creepiest things I've seen in a long time. And R2 hiding behind the rock had me rolling on the floor with laughter. Vader's "NOOOOO" is obviously Lucas's giant "Fuck you!" to all the fans. It's the only explanation. Way to destroy the most powerful moment of the series.

Honestly, this is just comical now.

I know, right? It's almost gotten to the point where I want to re-place my pre-order just to enjoy the surreal nature of tis shit.

Seriously, the Jabba door? I hadn't heard about that little gem. Christ does every still, serene moment now need to be stamped out utterly and replace by hyper-active bouncing around shots? It's an establishing shot; we need a second to figure out where the fuck we are, and who is involved. Throwing a big-ass pan into the thing so we do not immediately focus on the droid is counterproductive and asinine.

Heads up, boys, We've gone well beyond "the technical limitations at the time..." to just plain "WTF?" at this point watch yourselves.

I hope this thread is fake.

I think Bill Hunt over at The Digital Bits offers the best perspective on the matter thus far:

[hr]
And finally today, as we approach the 9/16 street date for the Star Wars Saga Blu-rays, we expect screencaps purporting to be taken from them to begin appearing in various places online.

But after the silliness earlier this year regarding the Lord of the Rings Blu-rays (and specifically the over-reaction to screencaps posted online weeks before street), we want to make this completely clear: We don't comment on screencaps. We don't review or judge the quality of discs based on screencaps. We're not going to answer questions about screencaps.

When the ACTUAL discs arrive, we will of course post our full review of them as quickly as we can, and we'll be happy to talk about them then. Just so you know.

[hr]

This shit was meant to be experienced on a kick ass home theater rig, not scrutinized on a laptop as such I'm giving these discs their day in court (and LFL my hard earned cash). For providing me with hours upon hours of entertainment and pure fucking cinematic bliss in the past they've earned at least that much from me. Just sayin'.

Garbage mattes are still everywhere, noticeably around the Death Star II in Jedi. Ewok Adventure eyes are not consistent and only seem to be applied to close-ups of Wicket.

The CGI addition to Jabba's court is named Seboca, who according to Wookieepedia is a Dug movie star. Perhaps a hint to his inclusion is the fact that he was voiced by Matt Wood in Attack of the Clones.

It actually hasn't been done to every Ewok, mostly on close up shots as Topeka mentioned. The first Ewok baby that it showed, that blinked its eyes but the others didn't really do it.

I don't think they really changed anything for Empire. However, it is nice to see Empire and Star Wars (ANH) properly balanced for the color timing.

told you so about the Ewoks.

And no surpirses on the garbage mattes, as all that's happened is the middle levels have been pushed so the films are brighter and washed out.

It really funny, I just popped over to TFN to see how the rabid fans are reacting, and, aside from some who are sticking to "these are fake", just about everyone is pissed off about the changes we're seeing, and the fixes we're not seeing.

I don't think I've ever, in 30 years of being a SW fan, seen anything get virtually the whole fanbase so universally pissed off. It almost makes me start wondering again about how authentic these are; maybe LFL is trolling pirates, who knows?

I too still noticed all the lines around the fighters and such while watching Jedi. However, I then remembered I'm watching the 480 version that's posted here on the MF. So those are bound to show up in a lower quality format and this is compressed. I'm hoping the full uncompressed 1080p format will fare much better.

Topeka,

They used the 2004 masters as a starting point but they did color correct the films. The blue tint in Empire is no longer there. If you don't believe me watch it for yourself.

I know this is the first time I've seen were virtually the whole fan base was practically pissed off because of the changes.

Empire has the same colour it had in 2004. They have done no colour correction to it whatsoever. Check out the sample below.

These images were captured using the same program so there wouldn't be any chance of a difference in capture. One side is the Blu-rays and the other is from the 2004 HDTV broadcast. Now tell me, which is which?

I'm calling right side is the BR, Ady. At least for the Yoda shot, which looks a little less teal. Random poking around at what should be neutral grays in about a dozen screenshots has led me to conclude that someone at LFL saw the complaints about the blue shift and pushed the yellows, which is what I'm seeing in your samples (also look at the Hoth sky.

All together kids, "BLUE AND YELLOW MAKE?").

Again, hope either you or Harmy are planning a de-assification based on the BR resolution, Ady. While I'm not a huge fan of Revisited, your theatrical ESB reconstruction is my go-to for that film, and a long time back I dropped your restored elements of ANH into a colour corrected version sourced from the HDTV rip, which is my favorite for ANH; I'd love to see you drop your re-rotoscoped opening shot onto this release of ANH.
