:siren: ED NORTON NO LONGER HULK

New Hulk Marvel Confirmation

- "We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in the Avengers. Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members.

- The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."

Ed Norton's Agent Responds

- "We know a lot of fans have voiced their public disappointment with this result, but this is no excuse for Feige's mean spirited, accusatory comments. Counter to what Kevin implies here, Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in the Avengers cast, many of whom are personal friends of his.

- Feige's statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel's fans."

Thanks for the thread. :heavymetal:

The Norton Hulk may have been up to Marvel's standard but Ed damn sure did a good job of making the character a combination of Ultimate Hulk (Super Soldier Experiment on crack) and the 1970's Bill Bixby televison series.

If Avengers 2012 turns out to be Iron Man and his Amazing Friends with Black Widow (Scarlett stole the IM2 show) and Ultimate Nick Fury - I'll be satisfied. The issue for me is Joss Wheldon and how well [s]Human Torch[/s] Captain America and [s]George Kirk[/s] Thor are portayed.

That's all great news. Hopefully third time's a charm with Bannergate. My big question is, at the moment, are there any more images of Scarlett Johansen from the photoshoot the pic above was garnered from? Hammana hammana whoop whoop.

PS-Ultimate Hawkeye ripping his fingernails out and using them as projectile weapons to effect escape from a dozen or so armed men must be included. Even if it's just character setup cut scene flashback/whatever. That was fucking tough.

a quick teaser trailer has been filmed to go in front of Captain America and Latino Review says the big bad is Loki who brings the SKRULLS to Earth by using the "cosmic cube" seen in Captain America.

It begins

Image

MARVEL AVENGERS PRESS RELEASE
[spoil]
Production has commenced today in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Marvel Studios' highly anticipated movie "Marvel's The Avengers," directed by Joss Whedon ("Serenity") from a screenplay by Whedon. The film will continue principal photography in Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. Robert Downey, Jr. ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2") returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") as Thor, Chris Evans ("Captain America: The First Avenger") as Captain America, Jeremy Renner ("Thor," "The Hurt Locker") as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo ("The Kids Are Alright") as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson ("Iron Man 2") as Black Widow, Clark Gregg ("Iron Man," "Thor") as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2") as Nick Fury. Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, "Marvel's The Avengers" is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor," and "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Marvel's The Avengers" is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, "Marvel's The Avengers" brings together the mightiest super hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of super heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders ("How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tom Hiddleston ("Wallander") and Stellan Skarsgård ("Angels & Demons," "Mamma Mia!") who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios' feature "Thor."

"Marvel's The Avengers" is being produced by Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Louis D'Esposito, Patty Whitcher, and Jon Favreau. Marvel Studios' Jeremy Latcham and Victoria Alonso will co-produce.

The creative production team also includes Oscar nominated director of photography Seamus McGarvey ("Atonement"), production designer James Chinlund ("25th Hour"), Oscar winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne ("Elizabeth: The Golden Age"), Oscar winning visual effects supervisor Janek Sirrs ("Iron Man 2," "The Matrix"), visual effects producer Susan Pickett ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2"), stunt coordinator R.A. Rondell ("Superman Returns"), and four-time Oscar nominated special effects supervisor Dan Sudick ("Iron Man," "War of the Worlds"). The editors include Oscar nominated Paul Rubell ("Collateral") and Jeffrey Ford ("Crazy Heart").

Marvel Studios most recently produced "Iron Man 2" which was released in theatres on May 7, 2010. The sequel to "Iron Man," starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow as well as Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the number one spot its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million. To date the film has earned over $620 million in worldwide box office receipts.

In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies, "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk." "Iron Man," in which Robert Downey, Jr. originally dons the super hero's powerful armor alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008 and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million its opening weekend and grossed over $571 million worldwide. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released "The Incredible Hulk" marking its second number one opener of that summer. The spectacular revival of the iconic green goliath grossed over $250 million in worldwide box office receipts.

And if this is any indication a script leak or review could be imminent.

It's pretty obvious that Scarlett wants to be taken seriously as an actress. First by getting breast reduction (read implants removed), then getting fat, while simultaneously fucking her way up the Hollywood ladder.

Note the footwear.

Lou Ferrigno cast as the voice of the HULK! so says the IMDB page for the Avengers. also, the leaked pages of the script seen above indicate a "carrier" they are on. This could quite possibly be Nick Fury's flying carrier airship from the comics!

Are you sure she had implants? She was pretty stacked in her earlier, pre-fame roles. I mean, if she's had a boob job then I think it's safe to say she's had the best boob job ever (exhibit a).

I was somewhat uneasy about making that post as it came off as gossip-blog.

Regarding her chest, I'm not sure if they were real or augmented.

One thing is certain her chest is smaller.

yes, but it's also suggested that he won't be in it long, perhaps setting up the sequel as he regains the infinity gauntlet seen above. either way, it kicks ass!

I'm hoping that's the case. He definitely needs more build up than just seeing the Infinity Gauntlet in Thor. The movie is already packed as it is and including another big villain with the Skrulls and Loki would probably be overkill.

how does Iron Man expect to stop Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet? Hawkeye? Black Widow? Come on. The only one even REMOTELY strong enough is Thor and he's not that bright.

Thanos causes problems for the writers. How do you write a god as a villain and make it believable that some rich party boy in a metal suit and some guy that can shoot straight can stop him? They should save him for Thor 2

I agree. I really liked Cap's 40's/WWII suit from the get go but after seeing the new one it makes me appreciate it even more. I like that they both clearly look unique to their respective eras. The 40's suit looks very military with all the straps, pouches and looser fit while the modern one is very streamlined and definitely evocative of Cap's more traditional comic-book suits.

I also like that the wings on his helmet look to be slightly embossed. It's a good compromise as opposed to having them protrude out like the comic versions do which probably would have looked weird. Looking forward to seeing how Evans looks in the modern costume.

Also Iron Man will supposedly have two armors in this film. The one in the poster will be the Mark VIII. The Mark VII will be an upgraded version of the Mark VI armor from IM2.

I have seen the Avengers teaser and it is very cool. A teaser to be sure with a lot of quick shots. Thor's hair is longer and Cap is kind of featured as the star of the movie.

I'm sure it'll be up soon.

Glad I didn't watch one of those shitty bootlegs beforehand. The teaser was very exciting quick as it was. Definitely going to need an official HD version to scrutinize frame by frame. I think I read somewhere that it will be officially released after SDCC, around July 29.

Thanks for posting! The complete lineup above is awesome! Anyone got the individual shot of the Hulk yet, since it made it to the full-image version?

So the post Cptn America trailer for this in the theatre today. My brain almost overloaded trying to keep up with all the images. I giggled like a sissy when it was done. Looking forward to this one.

Btw, all things considered, we may have already seen Skrulls, cuz they're shapeshifters, get it?? :downboomtish:

I think the Hulk based on this pic looks good... though I wish they would bring in Sal Buscema to do the design. I loved how The Hulk looked in the late 70´s comics.

Holy shit! New footage shown at D23 (Disney Studio's presentation). Description below (source: marvel.com):

[spoil]

Loki imprisoned inside a cylindrical glass and steel cell on board the S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier.

Fury: "You try to escape you so much as scratch that glass"

Fury throws a switch opening a hole beneath the cell

"30,000 feet, straight down in a steel trap"

Loki: "It's an impressive cage, but not built for me."

Fury: “Built for something a lot stronger than you”

Loki looks up at the camera recording them.

Loki: “Yes, a mindless beast that has to play at being a man.”

The rest of the Avengers are watching the confrontion via monitors.

Loki: “How desperate are you, to call on such lost creatures to defend you?”

Fury: “How desperate am I? You threaten my world with war. You steel a force you can’t control. You talk about peace, but you kill because its fun… ”

Loki: “It burns you to be so close. To have the tesseract To have power. And for what? A warm light for all mankind to share. Allow me to remind you of what real power is.”

Fury: “Well, let me know if ‘Real Power’ wants a magazine or something.”

Banner: "He really grows on you, doesn't he?"

Quick shots of various action scenes, fighter jet flying over a city, truck chase, Thor hitting Captain America's shield with Mjolnir and Iron Man engaged in hand to hand combat with Captain America.

Nick Fury explains the mission statement of the Avengers: "There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable, to see if they could become more. To fight the battles we never could."

Scene in a bar with Tony making himself a drink as he talks to someone. Tony takes a head count of the team

Stark: "Let's do a head count. We've got a couple of master assassins,"

shots of Hawkeye and Black Widow,

"a demigod, "

shot of Thor using Mjolnir,

"a living legend who kinda lives up to the legend"

shot of Cap looking at a locker with his new uniform,

it's then revealed Tony is talking to Loki!

Stark: "And you, big fella! You've managed to piss off every single one of them!"

Loki: "I have an army."

Stark: "We have a Hulk."

Shot of the Hulk roaring.

Title card.

From the teasers and set photos everything looks great, and after what they done with Captain America and Thor, I'm really excited for next summer. I hope they really milk the interaction possibilities between the main characters to make it even better than the individual films.

I wonder why Tony has the round chest plate on the Iron Man suit? He changed it to the triangle one in Iron Man 2 and it would be weird for the film makers to give him back the original suit when the original element was killing him.

It was the palladium from the arc reactor that was poisoning him not the armor itself. All the promo art so far has shown IM with a circular chest piece but in the Cap post credits teaser it was triangular shaped. However it's been rumored that Tony will have two different armors for Avengers, the Mark VII and Mark VIII. So it's possible each of the new armors will have different chest shapes.
