I saw THOR in 3D about 10 hours ago.

It owns IM,IM2 and all other marvel films.

Acting - 10/10 - no flat or flawed actors.

SPFX - 10/10

Story - no lag,not too fast or too slow

The reviews so far have kinda piqued my interest but Thor was so not on my radar to begin with that I probably wouldn't care if all the talk beforehand was just about how bland and boring it is.

I'm definitely going to see it if only out of obligation to support comic book movies (heck, I'm the guy who actually paid to see The Spirit in theaters) but everything I've seen of this film (and most films this summer) has really left me feeling pretty disinterested in moviegoing this year and that's a damn shame.

Feel sorry for you Joe1138 that you "are not entertained" and going to have a crap cinematic year.

Oh I think the year has been pretty good so far I mean I've enjoyed movies like Rango, Paul, Somewhere, The Illusionist (even those both came out last year I saw them late) and I really liked Win Win with Paul Giamatti. I just feel like the big tentpole releases aren't really going to do it for me this year.

Thor Rocked !!!

The cameo scene at the end of the film was especially interesting.

Thor was very very good. it looked from the trailers like it was going to be a campy joke laden train wreck. The trailers don't do this film justice and sold it poorly.

Most of this film takes place is Asgard! It's practically a sci-fi movie! Which is good by the way. The action and effects are top notch, you root for Thor immediately, the acting is great and Loki is one dirty bastard! Probably tied for fourth best comic book movie along with Iron Man. Dark Knight would be first, Spiderman 2, Spiderman 1, then Iron Man / Thor depending on whether you like sci-fi or tech better.

BRING ON AVENGERS!

Movie was lots of fun. I think this is the best movie representation of "brawler" heroes that's (ever) been put on screen - the action scenes with Thor+Hammer are the kind of action scenes I want to see in a Superman movie.

I talked a lot of shit about this movie after its announcement and leading up to its release.

"Nobody cares about Thor"

"Nobody knows about Thor"

"Natalie Portman + Sci-fi / fantasy = train wreck"

"This will be a joke-laden wink-fest for the Avengers movie, which will also be B-movie shlock"

and so on and so forth.

I just got back from Thor (in 3D, but save your money and don't bother) and I was absolutely wrong. It's already been said but this movie could not have been done justice through its advertising. The one thing I 'did' get right is that this is a story and a character the casual fan will not easily associate with Marvel. The Avengers cartoon is trying to do its part to get Thor into the public consciousness but this film will surely skyrocket the hero's popularity. It was that good.

In the Marvel movie pantheon, I'd say it's most similar to Iron Man in its fluid execution, humour, and attention to the Marvel mythos. It also had the similar story of a man being humbled into becoming the hero he should (or needs to) be.

I can't really add to what's been said. It's a well-acted, well-scripted comic-book movie. It's got surprisingly good visual effects (again something I thought the advertising undersold). Most importantly, it has a heart. I cared about Thor. Great performance by Kirk Sr.

As for the now routine post-credits SHIELD scene, this probably topped the list of them as far as intrigue goes. A teaser for the Avengers plot?

Thor has genuinely gotten me excited as hell for the Avengers movie. I now pray they don't fuck this up and turn it into a Fantastic Four bullshit fest. It's not going to be easy juggling Thor, Cap, Iron Man and the Hulk...well, at this point the Hulk has been ruined as a movie hero so maybe they'd be best to limit Hulk's screen time as it is; especially since character continuity is destroyed.

As I left the theatre I was thinking "how many comic nerds would blow a load in their seat if Toby Mac made a surprise Spider-man cameo in the Avengers?" Sad part is that after how well done Iron Man (at least part 1) and Thor were and Cap looks, I might one of them.

Said it earlier but 3D was basically invisible here. The Pirates trailer had more inspiring 3D in 2 minutes than Thor had all film.

EDIT: I forgot to mention Patrick Doyle's score, which I thought was very well done. It isn't quite the bombastic superhero theme Burton's Batmas is or even Spider-man, but it's very fantastical, inspiring and certainly not invisible like a lot of recent superhero efforts.

Um, the big green guy hasn't been ruined. The crappy Banners, yes, and the associated films most definately underwhelmed. But as a fan, I think 'The Hulk' himself was very well done in both films. To me, he takes on a completely different dimension, in general continuity, than the base aspects the Hulk vs Banner of the character illustrate. To a lot of people, that struggle is so important that they get hung up on it. They need to focus less on the Jeckyl and Hyde struggle of the Hulk/Banner relationship to really get to the meat of what makes him great. Like the fact that the Hulk is the strongest one there is. He jumped off the fucking planet for cryin' out loud! Ed Norton never struck me as having the balls for that. So fuck Banner, have more Hulk, and it might not seem like a joke.

And as for Toby M showing up, blowing a load of vomit is more likely. The retarded Peter Parker impersonator should not show up in 'Avengers'. I'd rather have a cameo from anyone else who sucked moderately less. Like Jackmans teary eyed Wolverine. Or maybe a Deadpool sighting, ooooh. Doubt it.

Still, glad you enjoyed it. In the nicest way possible, I find myself disagreeing with CoGro quite a bit these days. No offense. And to hear how much you too enjoyed it makes me even more excited to go see it. Thanks for posting!

Saw the flick earlier tonight and so, yeah, looks like I had crow for dinner.

It's just a fun flick (not damning it with faint praise) that actually manages to balance the fantastic elements with the more realistic scenes handily. Also, kinda surprising how much of a chick flick it is when you get right down to it. Bring on Captain America.

Hulk hasn't been ruined, it just hasn't been tapped just right yet. Hulk's greatest enemy is himself, there is NONE stronger than the Hulk. Banner should be scared shitless of turning into the Hulk because he's uncontrollable. Not just slightly worried as if Hulk's a crazy drunk at parties. Hulk should also have had a personality and actually talk more than one line at the end. Hulk wants control as well and doesn't want to turn back into Banner. More Hulk, less puny Banner. Hulk SMASH puny Banner. HULK STRONGEST THERE IS!

My point is: how many times can you reboot the character in such a short period of time before he becomes an absolute joke? Isn't the point of the Avengers - what makes it "the most badass and ambitious project in comic to film history" - is that it's an ensemble film of superhero megastars? The Hulk is the odd man out.

I'm not saying the character of the Hulk sucks or that Bruce Banner's plight isn't as interesting as anything in the marvel universe, I'm saying that they made 2 Hulk movies within 5 years of each other in complete different continuities by two completely different casts and crews and they both flopped as far as comic-book movies go. Now they're recasting the character again and it just seems bush league.

The Hulk scenes in both films were mostly enjoyable - I particularly loved the Ang Lee Hulk action scenes during and after the lab escape - but of the 4 current films occupying this Marvel Cinematic Universe (Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor and Incredible Hulk), it's the weakest link by far.

I don't think the Incredible Hulk was all that bad. It certainly was better than Iron Man 2. Ed Norton gave a good performance, the effects were top notch, cool action and an impressive, threatening bad guy. It leaned a little too heavily on the old tv series and there wasn't enough drama between Hulk and Banner as I explained earlier but it was hardly a poor movie. If Iron Man 1 was an A, Thor was an A, Iron Man 2 a D, then I'd rank Hulk a B-

I got really frustrated today trying to fix my lawmower. It's been broken since last summer & now it looks like I live in Viet Nam. So I decided fuckit, Ima' go to the movies by myself this afternoon ($4.50, what a deal!) and forget about all the things I can't make right in the world.

Wow, despite the reviews jacking up my expectations and me really just wishing the best for this thing since it was announced, I was happier with this movie than even I expected! I got a little teary eyed even, and now I think I know how all those Twilight bitches feel. Except this didn't suck. It fulfilled all the notions I had, and then some, on how this should have been portrayed on-screen. From Thor, Loki and the Asgardian realm, to the FX, Avengers tie-ins, and story, this one knocked it out of the ballpark.

The only thing that was pretty weak, for me, was the after the credit scene. Nothing really new to anyone who has been following along with Marvel Movie-U (617?) evolution, but still not 'bad'. I just really had to take a leak, and was hoping for some more umpf for my time waiting.

Sorry I'm gushing like a ninny. But this was the most fun I've had watching a movie in a long time. Maybe after I see it again I can make more critical sense.

I guess I had the opposite reaction to the trailers than others here. I've been pretty excited for this movie ever since seeing the original footage from comic-con despite not being an avid Thor aficionado. Finally saw it today and luckily it didn't disappoint. Loved it from start to finish. Really didn't want it to end. Like others have said it was just a fun movie with a great blend of fantasy with reality.

Asgard was an amazing environment, wish we got to see more of it. Jotunheim was equally impressive with its chilly and spooky desolateness. Loved the look of Laufey and the frost giants. Although not as large as they were in the comics they still ended up being larger than they appeared to be in the trailers. I appreciated the display of Thor's sheer power as a God, something I hoped they would be able to convey effectively. Loki was probably the best villain out of the Marvel U movies so far.

The acting was solid throughout. Portman and Hemsworth had good chemistry and even though their relationship seemed somewhat abbreviated it still worked pretty well. The humor was natural and not too forced or out of place and Kat Dennings didn't end being as annoying as I thought she might be.

All in all a really enjoyable comic book flick. For right now I'd say it beats out Iron Man as my current favorite so far. Can't wait for Captain America!

Also I really liked the post credits scene, probably my favorite of the easter egg scenes so far since it sets up both Captain America and Avengers nicely.


So what were all the easter eggs in this movie? We had Stan Lee (obviously), the Casket of Ancient Winters, the nod to "Donald Blake" as Thor's alias, the mention of Banner's disappearance, Hawkeye, the artifact/character in the post credits scene, the Infinity Gauntlet, Warlock's Eye and other items in Odin's Vault, Stark reference when the Destroyer arrives. There was also a reference to Hydra in the script but I think it was cut from the film.
