Palpatine (and Mas Amedda) finally in action. Brilliant!

The prequels are indeed getting much stronger together with this series.

Yeah it's really cool to see Palpatine and the senate in action. However, I would like to see the battle between Deathwatch and the Republic :(

I think we'll get that soon enough. I think this storyline is going to run even through Season 3. Remember about 2-3 weeks ago Jon Faverau Tweeted that he went down to the Ranch to lay some audio for Clone Wars... right now the crew is in the middle of production for Season 3. I think the Mandalores are going to be lurking around for a while.

I think the mandos will be hanging around for next season too.

In fact, it looks like there will be a number of characters introduced in past story arcs returning in some form or another. This week's commentary showcased the sound design by Matt Wood and Dave Acord. In one of the scenes Acord was mixing sound to some footage that appeared to have Hondo Ohnaka (pirate leader in "Dooku Captured) mixing it up with Anakin. I don't remember a scene from last season that looked like that. Plus, based on the vegetation around it kind of looked like Felucia.
Of course, I could just be seeing things.

What I'm wondering is whether these future episodes follow some sort of sequential timeline, or will the story arcs jump around to different times in the clone wars? (Like they seemed to do with this past mando trilogy, and as Filoni has apparently stated in the past.)

I remember reading a comment by Filoni that as the show progressed they might jump around the timeline a little bit. But if they do these broader story arcs I don't really see how they are going to be able to pull that off.

I just hope we get one "flashback" episode of an adventure with a young Padawan Kenobi and Master Qui-Gon. Maybe they can explore some of the Obi/Satine relationship through a flashback.

Just to add: Season 4 episodes are currently being written, though I've no word on the subject matter.

Lucas also indicated that the New Clone Wars would go on for five to six seasons in an interview two years ago. For most series - 100 episodes is the goal for syndication (rerun) purposes - which would mean 4 seasons of 25 episodes each.

TotalFilm: How far down the line will Star Wars continue in these new incarnations?

Lucas: Clone Wars will probably go for at least five or six seasons which adds up to 200 episodes. Then we have the live-action series, which is going to be a little bit more experimental. It takes place over the 20 years when Luke's growing up, but it's not about the Skywalkers or any of that stuff. (TotalFilm 2008)

DoubleSith pointed out in Collecting - one of the featured products at Toy Fair 2010 is Young Boba given the New Clone Wars treatment.

After rewatching the episode, I can't help but marvel at the detail the animators are putting into the characters' performances. A lot has been made about how good the voice acting, sound design, etc. is (and it's well-deserved), but I think that the animators are becoming really adept at creating a character with all the subtle moves and body language that make the show feel more natural.

This episode had a lot of close ups on the face, which might be why it was easier for me to pick out. An example was Palpatine's subtle grimace as the revelation of the true recording was presented, which he then quickly covered up with a slight smile. But there was also even more subtle animation in that scene. When Palpatine is first interrupted by Padme, you can see that his lower eye-lid twitches slightly as he knows the scheme has been uncovered. It's this level of detail that I would never have expected from the animators, but I'm glad to see they are putting in this kind of effort.

...Most impressive.

So it looks like the next few episodes are titled "Senate Murders" and "Cat and Mouse".

Do people know if they air back-to-back on March 19th, or does one air on the 19th and the next on the 26th? I seem to recall hearing about a double billing a while ago and I don't think we had one yet (other than on Jan. 1st). Just wondering if anyone out there knows.

Per starwarswiki, it's March 19th for "Senate Murders" and March 26th for "Cat and Mouse." The site is somewhat reliable for information on the show.

I wonder if “Cat and Mouse” is a Boba vs. Mace episode? Also, when will Bossk, Embo, and Sugi show-up?

Admiral Trench - a giant spider and talks like someone out of the prequels, can't pin it down.

Trench sounds like Phil LaMarr doing a Boss Nass impression with a little bit of Kit Fisto thrown in.
