So Doogie Howser has finally made it to action figure status.

    Image

I picked up Yarna and she absolutely fulfills my 6-breasted dancer needs. Wave 1 2009 looks fairly awesome including many aliens and most importantly the blink-or-miss-it spacetrooper from the Death Star. With the apparent death of Indy Jones and the last waves unlikely to make retail, it's time to get back into the SW line.

The Comic Packs are doing it for me whereas the regular line not so much. Also there is way too much Clone Wars Animated shit taking up shelve space. :vfuckoff:

Recently I picked up the Fenn Shysa (Evolutions Jango Fett) and Tobbi Dala (Evolutions Boba Fett) packs and plan to get the Talon & Cade pack.

Other Legacy product doing it for me are the ships and vehicles. My AT-TE and Millennium Falcon 2008 purchases are being saved for Thanksgiving and Christmas but till then I got a hard on for the A-Wing and B-Wing. For one I am a sucker for window-boxed packaged. Especially if there are smexy pilot figga pack-ins.

Tonight I picked up the Wal-Mart exclusive A-Wing and hopefully in a week or two I'll get the Toys R Us exclusive B-Wing which is huge!

Image
Image

I was never into the A-Wing until I seen the packaging and then read some EU background shit about it. Some things I found interesting was the ship is described as basiclly being a cockpit on two huge engines (ala Pod Racers) and that the craft is the successor to the Jedi Interceptor.

Another thing I found interesting is the artic blast that hit Florida today caused the girls at the store I bought it to wear hiked up shorts with UGG boots. :XD:

One might wait for the AT-TE until a new shipment comes in. Apparently there was an issue with the legs falling off that is being corrected for a new release.

As a end of semester present, I got the Dagger Squadron B-Wing. I'll probably edit in more content here but initial impressions is that it is as awesome as fuck.

The B-Wing is p  - especially the pimpy pack-in figga it came with. As posted before I never was into the A-Wing or the B-Wing but re-tooled cockpits with new intricate detailing and awesome super-articulated pilot pack-ins sold me.

The B-Wing is off-set like the Millennium Falcon. The cockpit is gyro-scopic and stays level no matter what. One of the four engine afterburners controls the s-foil wings. The only negative about the A-Wing and B-Wing is the price: :vfuckoff:

In fact the price on a lot of Star Wars shit is unreal - which is too bad because there is a bunch of awesome shit released and re-released this year like the GunShip and the ARC-170 in addtion to the new AT-TE and Legacy Millennium Falcon. Figure multipacks like the Hoth Scout Troopers are like $25.00. The Toys R Us BattleFront Clone Trooper pack is something like $40.00.

I've definitely cut back on collecting due to the horrendous raising of prices and generally substandard product. Multi-packs are costing more, containing less. There's no more value. Examples of things I'd have bought are the Lars Homestead house thing and the Sarlacc Pit. Both are kind of bogus but feature cool elements like the Tatooine house, skiff and sarlacc. However they're packed with generally awful figures and selling for the positively insane prices of between 50 and 70 bucks.

What a disaster that set is. Star Wars does seem to be in this holiday season. I hit up Wal-Mart during work tonight and noticed that the Star Wars shit had really moved, not even a sign of a Millennium Falcon. The Indiana Jones stuff has collected a thick layer of dust.

Nice work the yavin battlepack looks fun, so does the Visionairy Maul.

I can't believe that they'll be changing packages again. Maybe if they didn't have to redesign that crap, we won't have to pay 8 bucks a piece.

Good stuff! Legacy wave 6 looks great except Luke in the oversized bathrobe. That Clone Wars Jabba looks like it could be easily converted to a realistic version at some point.

RebelScum poster MomawNadon also has a write-up of confirmed figures:

Basic

ROTJ Wave Death Star Jedi Luke
ROTJ Wave Slave Leia& & Alternate Lower Torso
ROTJ Wave Ewok 2Pak - Paploo & NoApaak
ROTJ Wave Klaatu
ROTJ Wave Malakili
ROTJ Wave Nikto Skiff Guard
ROTJ Wave Major Panno - Dressellian Commando
ROTJ Wave Ten Numb - Pilot
ROTJ Wave Biker Scout - VOTC Biker Scout

Comic Packs

T'ra Saa
Lumiya & Luke Skywalker
Darth Krayt & Sigel Dare

Build-A-Droid

R5-H6 (Gardulla the Hutt in TPM)
R3-O1 (clear dome, aboard first Death Star)
HK-47
YVH-1 (New Jedi Order novels)

End of article hints new Droid Factory Playset.

AOTC Obi-Wan and ROTJ figures look awesome. Skiff Guard with rail cannon is :heavymetal:

The skinny Rebels without the lower "skirt" parts are a pass, as is the Emperor. It looks nothing like the old Emperor. Ugnaughts are must-have. I'm kind of digging the medical frigate Luke and Leia.

I realize Luke's robe is ridiculous. It's way too big and puffy and should have been sculpted. But Leia looks fantastic and the headsculpt on Luke is pretty damn kickass. They actually sculpted the moles on his face! If the final production piece looks that good, I believe I'll get it as well as Leia. They'll look great with the droids. Whether or not the robe will remain that bad, I'm sure as soon as it's out customizers will start cutting away at it and find a way to make it look better.

I saw that today. I wish it wasn't a clone wars figure that came with it, I'd rather have a legacy action figure, but better than nothing.

I got the new Ben and I have a few major problems with it.

The skinny elongated neck is awful. His head sags retardedly.

He doesn't hold his lightsaber well (one hand is permanently using the Force).

The cloth is too puffy.

He cost almost 9 bucks at Target.

Well today after a month or so I scored most of the A New Hope Wave I wanted including the hard to find (for me) Spacer Trooper and Jawa w/ Treadwell along with the more easily found Brainiac and Terminal Man.

In other news, some of you are probably aware of this (used to be bi-weekly now monthly) Hasbro Q&A:
galactichunter.com

HASBRO: The reason is because the Legacy/Droid Factory figures have slowed considerably since last Fall compared to other parts of the line like Clone Wars basic figures and Saga Legends, and without the strong collector backbone we need to scale back on the number of collector-targeted basic figures in the lineup. We will instead be moving these to the Spring 2010 exclusives lineup and will change things around to look at some multi-packs (similar to the Battllefront multi-pack format).

jedidefender.com

HASBRO: ... We have indeed seen an effect on the more collector-targeted figures and sets, like Evolutions and even Droid Factory basic figures, which have slowed down significantly since last year and we have lost some of the more casual collectors, retaining a loyal "core."
...

This means that some releases may be scaled back, and supply kept shorter than in the past for some things. We will continue to look for ways to bring out new and interesting figures in other ways (such as the numerous exciting figure-based exclusives coming this year and in 2010). One outcome of the current collector situation is that we are going to take the announced Spring 2010 wave of The Force Unleashed figures out of the basic figure lineup, and move them over to the exclusives plan.
In short, Hasbro claims that the realistic line, this year called Legacy is not selling but the animated style Clone Wars is. Now I love The New Clone Wars but the figures suck. The Clone Wars Animated is chocking up valuable shelf space. Casual buyers and even Retailers themselves can't tell the difference between the Realistic vs Animated packaging. The new realistic figures Hasbro has been producing are awesome but when older figures re-packaged into "battle packs" for $40 to $60 there is going to be slow sales.

Hasbro recently raised it's $40 vehicle-line to $60 and now raised it's $20 line to $40. (ToysRUs has Clone Wars Animated repaints of the $20 V-Wing now with a animated-style pilot for $40. The $20 HailFire Droid with animated-style Grievous now goes for $40. $20 vehicle + $8 figure != $40).

Let's not forget the basic figure jump from 5.99 to 7.99 in most areas over the last 2 years. Honestly, I still haven't be able to find a single droid head from the second set of droids. But I can find enough of Legacy Wave 1's fat dancer and animated clones. BS. Hasbro's using it as a crock. They've over expanded tons of other lines cough GI Joe cough. And their Marvel Crap, now they want star wars collectors to fund it.

They all look terrible and perfectly portray how god-awful Hasbro's SW line has become with The Legacy Collection and Clone Wars (bear in mind, two separate toy lines at once). I've cut back to collecting only GOOD versions of core characters in iconic outfits (few and far between), Ewoks and Separatists. Figures are too expensive, quality is deteriorating. Hasbro should frankly shut down (slightly wasted while posting this, but right).

The Yavin BattlePack and Empire Strikes Back Wave (1of2) are now shipping. The Red II X-Wing is shipping this fall as an exclusive, utilizing the X-Wing 2006 Dagobah packaging. I don't have to tell you that the Yavin BattlePack would go well with the upcoming X-Wing.

The Empire Emperor figure doesn't look too bad if it were released as a Revenge Emperor. As a soft goods fan I could do without hard goods plastic bonnet. Luke w/ Smoking Jacket doesn't look too bad either.

I sorta look forward hunting these all summer.

I still haven't seen Legacy 2009 Wave 1: A New Hope in my area. I want to pick up those stormtroopers and cantina aliens. Of course the pegs are clogged with Yarna, Legends Plo Koon and Animated C-3POs.

The Empire Strikes back wave is a dream come true. I never thought we'd get ESB-ending specific versions of the main characters, but after 2007's Lando-in-Han's-spare-outfit the Luke and Leia are a nice follow-up. I would have preferred a plastic outfit for Luke, however.

I've seen Luke in person and it's the best likeness since the 2004 Jabba's Palace figure. Paint apps vary, however. The figure is a disaster between the ugly VOTC naked torso and the big goofy robe. VOTC legs are decent but he's too short and the crotch part just looks awkward.

The Emperor looks nothing like the old version of the Emperor to me.

After almost two years I finally have him. For searching the new ESB wave, I went to two Targets, one Walmart and one ToysRUs. The two Targets were filled with only Clone Wars Animated and the Walmart was stripped bare. The ToysRUs had a few of the usual Legacy pegwarmers but there was a lone Vintage Sage Legends Snowtrooper. This ToysRus also had the 18in (1/4 scale) Diamonds line and more than a few Yavin BattePacks.

I am put off getting the Yavin pack until the Red X-Wing is released.

I saw that Snowtrooper for the first time last week. The ESB and AOTC waves hit simultaneously here. That slow distribution along with multitudes of Clone Wars figures have made it hard to keep interested in the new Legacy Collection. I read in a Hasbro Q&A that the Hoth Rebel Soldier without the skirt is a "rare" variant. I picked him up for old time's sake (remember Boba Fett: half circles/whole circles/no circles?). I've also seen Champagne and Silver U-3PO parts but don't care about either.

I haven't been able hunt that much this year for new stuff or Transformers for that matter so far but that will change next week. My targets are going to be the ESB wave and the Yavin Battle Pack.

Around here, all you find are Bail Organa and his wife, Yarna, ESB Leia, Ugnaught and Needa in DROVES. That's for Legacy Collection. Mostly you find Clone Wars crap. I'm not really looking forward to much this year, thank God. I probably wouldn't find it.

Before this weekend, I'd say the same thing, but now the new BAD line with the HK showed up, the new clone wars (apparently Ashoka's shortpacked, if you're interested) is up and we have the Droid Factory exclusives from walmart showing up, which builds a huge ass Dark Trooper.

Late Summer haul:

Star Wars: Luke Trooper & Han Trooper
Empire Wave I
Comics Packs: Cade & Talon, Rebellion Luke & Blond Companion
Diamond Maul: 18" for only $60

Luke Trooper and Han Trooper happear to have different helmets. Luke Trooper is also shorter than Han Trooper which maybe is to live up for the immortal line.

ImageImage

Medic Frigate Luke w/ Smoking Jacket & Electric Toothbrush is pretty awesome especially after cutting away the huge rope-belt. Empire Palpatine may have been Hasbro's attempt to combine features from the original Monkey Eyes and Ian McDiarmid. Hoth Trooper and Ugnaught both have variants which we may or may not see.

Rebellion Luke & Rebel Girl from Rebellion #03

ImageImage

Still have to get the Episode II Wave before the old Stormtrooper Cards make way for the new smaller Red Cards. Also seen stocked is Legacy Vader and even Legacy Grievous. The Star Wars (A New Hope) wave is starting to shelf warm. Space Trooper outnumbered Six-Breasted Woman at one store.

I really like that rebellion pack. The figures look good in those commando suits, and they're new sculpts, which is more than we can say for most of the waves coming out now.

Picked up the new BAT-ST (Big AT-ST) and Dewback.

AT-ST was not quite as big as I thought and the head comes off way too easily. I got mine to stand up on a flat surface with it's legs fully extended. The pack-in figure went into the recycling bin. I'm sure this will grow on me when I permanently attach the head with a screw.

Image

Dewback w/ Trooper is awesome. The creature itself is like solid chocolate bunny only green and lizard. The Trooper has ball jointed hips to mount the komodo dragon. Hopefully the Revenge Of The Sith Gelagrub is as half as awesome as Dewback.

Also got my first Clone Wars CGI figga: Cad Bane. The ROTJ wave is everywhere and so was able to get Slave Leia alongside the Scale Grievous and ROTJ Vader re-release. The Episode I wave seems to come and gone but seen remnants of the ROTS wave and ANH wave. I'm sorry but I like the new Hasbro stuff.

On one of the collecting sites, I read that Hasbro has shifted preferential treatment from WalMart to ToysRUS. I actually seen a lone ROTS wave Commander Cody at TRU.

Also from what I read that Hasbro is shipping lower quantity of new realistic figures. If slow sales are the problem it's because that high price $8.99 for lower value figures. By lower value, I mean selling one smaller figure per card instead including another one (i.e. Ugnaughts should be two per pack, Pod Racer should have come with a Pit Droid etc.)

Speaking of price, I took advantage of KMart's Buy One - Get One Free to pick up the some of the ROTJ Wave (Luke Skywalker Death Star II, 2 Slave Leias, 2 ET Extra-Terrestrial Commandos) and AOTC Wave (Obi-Wan Mullet, Anakin EVO, AOTC Jango EVO).

On Thanksgiving Eve I may get the Legacy X-Wing or Prequel Y-Wing.

Devastator and [s]Turbo Tank[/s] Imperial Juggernaut are calling to me. :ohnoes:

I can't really say that you're wrong.

i just picked up enough pieces to put together 2 astromechs from the ROTJ and AOTC waves. That set me back 60 bucks, for figures that were bent up and warped already.

I hear that Hasbro's going to can the comic collection. I've yet to see the latest wave in the wild. I've seen repacks, but that's it. If they can't make their items available, how do they expect people to buy them? In the mean time, I have a walmart with dozens of exclusive comic packs from LAST YEAR, that they won't clearance out.

On Thanksgiving Eve, picked up the Juggernaut Tank. It wasn't worth the original $99 price but for the $76 I picked it up for it was worth it.

Especially since it a early version of the AT-AT:

When KMart's had buy one get one free, Walmart had a $6 rollback, and ToysRUs had 2 For 9.99 - I picked up the ROTS , ANH, and even TPM waves. With the money I saved picked up the Y-Wing bomber. For Christmas I got the 2009 X-Wing and Galactic Heroe's Baby Slave I.

It's safe to say that the Clone Wars Animated bombed this year as it is the only thing left of the shelves alongside Legends. The ToysRUs McQuarrie sets disappeared while the very pricey yet very awesome Tie Interceptor is shelfwarming.

I'll edit in more later
