Maybe it'll pick up once school starts again who knows. I'm sure a lot of people have been absent because of the summer vacation. Anyways I hear you though that this place has been sorta dead lately.

Here are a list of dead forums: Star Wars boards or boards that are derivative of Star Wars boards.

Case in point: :gb2tfn: fell from the #4th largest messageboard to the #52nd largest messageboard (big-boards.com)

The reason why MF is slow because what happened with two major traffic sources: Clone Wars CGI and Movie Spoilers.

With Clone Wars CGI - MF got a lot of traffic during and leading up to Season One. When Season One ended in March 2009, a good chunk of traffic went with it. As such when Season Two begins in October obviously we will get traffic back. With the MF Movie Spoilers forum - which brings in a lot of traffic and even new posters - well I don't have to tell you what happened with this summer's "blockbusters".

In terms of paid advertising - I will never pay for traffic. However when I finish the next version of MF, then I and hopefully others will :quote: promote :quote: the site on other forums.

Below shows there were at least 36 people who logged-in the past 24 hours.

I never tell anyone I roam MF.com. When people catch me browsing it I tell them I was trying to find gay porn to cover it up.

I don't think it's fair to judge activity here in August after the summer movie season has ended and before Clone Wars TV begins this fall. In fact the thread title has been changed to reflect that and because there is a lot of posting in it.

Image

Also when it comes to posting - MF is sorta of hard place to post given that the site is content-oriented. Not only is MF is hard place to post at it's a hard place to join. Below as this thread was created we got a new member:

usern: Volguus_Zilhodrar
email: billy@afterlifetheatricks.com
ipaddr: http://76.73.1.50/

This individual browsed only Reservation and Militia threads with a proxy anonymizer.

So, you're saying we're too secretive?

We could hold a contest to see who can find nekkid pix of Bridget Regan. Troy would post more then.

I could absolutely promote MF on a couple of SW videogame modding fansites I run, but believe me when I say you would prefer that the crowd there does not by and large come here. (And as a result, usually do I only mention MF if I find news here and want to repost it.)

Yahoo image searching "Bridget Regan" with my shorts and the "family filter" both removed. Stand by for results.

You mean the fat ho' w/the fiddle? I'd hit it. Allthough she looks constipated whilst fiddling, however.

Nobody likes this forum anymore. It used to be the center of SW spoilers and major leaks circa 2004-2005. That was when I first noticed it, like most everyone else I'm sure. The SW Trilogy DVD changes screenshots, videos and sound clips. Then it was the Revenge of the Sith images from Spoileriffic and others, photo scans and video links. Not to mention sharing material from SW.com's Hyperspace back when it offered anything worthwhile. But that was a MUCH more exciting time in an era that may never be topped for us geeks. I mean, come on. Now there's simply no new content. Yes, there's the Clone Wars show and various other happenings within the realm of SW/Lucasland such as the musical tour, long-rumored/semi-confirmed 3-D theatrical re-releases of the movies, much longer-rumored and semi-confirmed "The Box Set" on DVD and Blu-ray.

But really, aside from the sharing of various leaks and spoilers from OTHER sites in the movie forum and an occasional new episode of the cartoon, what else is there to discuss? Movies since 2005 have sucked. Indiana Jones is now lame as shit, dumb forgettable summer action flicks like Transformers, G.I. Joe and Star Trek have raped childhoods, James Cameron's Avatar looks utterly "m-e-h", Spielberg is lazy, Zemeckis is trapped in a CGI cartoon world, super hero movies are the same old shit every damn time. It's just not the same without new SW movies, musical scores, midnight toy launches, major DVD releases and all that good shit. Personally I would be more active if anyone ever seemed to respond much to whatever I have to say. Since you don't, I just tend to lurk and scan new posts, waiting for anything worthwhile to occur.

That sounds about right. I guess it's sad that Lucas doesn't put crap out...maybe when they confirm Celebration V, we'll get some more movement in the boards. Until then, we're just an off the radar board....a perfect little whole to stick ourselves. :D

Actually up to dozen people registered since the premeire but they were deemed not worthy. For example, one poster who got through asked why aren't there new episodes for three weeks and another had the first post of "can you reupload this to rapidshare?"

Furthermore up to a dozen somewhat regular posters were given tickets due to extreme leeching from the Cargo forums (that is not bumping posts you download from or even sharing links).

A few things.

Clone Wars CGI + Live-Action Series forums:

The new cartoon doesn't doesn't "do it" for a lot of fans but it "does it" for me. According to the download stats on the MF megaupload account - each file has literally 1000s of downloads. Sure some of those downloads are from lurkers who copypaste links to other forums but still impressive. In fact this past weekend MF got 1000 unique hits to the forum even though there was no new episode this week.

The bulk of our Live-Action Series forum is news articles but I edit them into "reports" which are then copy/pasted verbatim on other sites. Again there is not much going with the LAS for now but I am interested in every little detail of it.

By the way here is :gb2tfn: 's TV forums: http://boards.theforce.net/liveactionclonewarsclassics/b10467

While there maybe a lot of posts, they are nonsensical ones dealing with how Lucas is not following the previous non-Lucas authored Expanded Universe novels, how Clone Wars CGI rips off The Dark Knight movie, in addition to several social chat threads mainly frequented by moderators.

HyperSpace:

When it came to HyperSpace - MF.com never posted anything from there publicly. If anything we posted spoiler images, sounds, and video publicly before it appeared on HyperSpace.

Movie Spoilers:

While the majority of spoilers in that subforum originated on other sites, we do get semi-exclusives in the forum of the occasional script leak and when our members see movies early. The forum was a major source of traffic both in terms of posting and new members. Unfortunately with the reaction to recent franchise movie sequels (Indiana Jones, Transformers, Spider-Man, etc), MF may not be able to rely on that for new traffic.

Cargo Forums:

We may have reached a saturation point with the Cargo Forum i.e. members getting all the movie scores, video, images, and books they need. Also with MF's restrictive admittance there are few people to download our uploads. Still it would be nice if the six people who downloaded my Star Wars In Concert HD video posted in that thread :XD:

Again I'm not uptight about posting or activity here. In fact I'm glad MF didn't hop on the social network faggotry that has come and gone. Another thing I am thankful there are no "hilarious" email forward-level comedy here known as "memes" - a term which in itself reeks of faggotry. Nothing says creepy fagola like a aging nerd using 4chanisms like "moar", "epic", "win" or "fail" in an attempt to be cool (or posting image macros and photoshops for that matter).

One thing I am uptight about is MF.com's design. As I stated previously a new design is being worked on. A design I will feel comfortable with promoting MF on non-Star Wars sites and forums. I appreciate everyone who has come here for the past SIX YEARS.

you know I'm just busting your balls, DP. MF is still the shit when exclusive spoilers drop and are being taken down at the drop of a hat. We just need these new members to actually have a conversation every once in awhile. We need things to talk about. I guess we could get political, or talk about the hottest piece of ass to hit the net in a week, but that always seemed beneath this site somehow. We're more the upper echelon of geek sites.

You know, DP, you COULD give some info on this MF 3.0 you've been working on. Like how far along you are, when you expect this to go online, any help you might need in design, etc.

Well...I think you are man, just a bit. A prime example would be this very post and how it's apparently against message board policy to use an ellipsis or line-by-line quoting. I mean, just kind of think about that second one. By getting all wound up over it, weren't you honestly helping to eliminate discussion? I also think you're a bit hard on new users, as many of the posters here have been. My impression of you is that a new poster joins and you edit/delete their posts, move them into this sub-forum and then ban them. I guess I've just seen that happen once too many times and I attribute that partly to the lack of active users or users in general.

On the subject of posters, many of them have been a-holes over the years. An example would be when the "Original Unaltered Trilogy" letterbox DVDs were being released and a flame war began with people getting all wound up because some preferred versions of the SW movies that didn't feature Jurassic Park dinosaurs running around all over the place and obviously ludicrous scenes such as Greedo shooting first, awful CGI Jabba in the original movie and the new ending for ROTJ. Not to mention the fact that Lucasfilm clearly dumped those discs right out of their ass. I'm an open-minded kind of guy that's fine with people digging their Special Editions and the Prequels, even with all the problems I have with them. I still love SW at its core. I'm not going to rail on someone because of their opinions on the versions or call people "whiners" or use that awful "Lucas gave you what you want!" phrase that was regurgitated by every ignorant SW fan on the internet circa 2006. Why we can't just get along, I don't know.

TFN may have a lot of douchey postings, but they have posting and actual discussions. I'm sure the posters are having fun in their own way and that's cool. It's more than we have here at least, isn't it?

Part of the issue here is MF has been outdone in this regard as well. In the past few years, public server websites have flourished and pirates have uploaded movies, music, games, comics etc. all over the fucking place. I barely even use torrents anymore. It's insane what a simple Google search paired with "Megaupload" will turn up. I have dozens of DVD and HD video rips on my hard drive that I haven't even gotten around to watching. I don't really need anything from here, although occasionally something nice does pop up.

Well this thread has me uptight or at least a little taken aback but not the lack of activity. However there are valid criticisms here and I will accept blame. Perhaps the restrictive entry and posting policy should be loosened up. However, when people join up and ask something about files after others and myself spending several hours or even days getting them up - well then I tend not to show mercy. It's been pointed out here before that if you use google+megaupload you find what you're looking for. *This is why I push for original content + uploads for the Cargo Forums.

When it comes to posting styles, I'm not a fan of base posting such as: "Luca$", "The Prequels suck", and "Harry Knowles is fat". This was old 10 years ago and it's old now. Over at OriginalTrilogy and RebelScum there ae quite a few posters that have been posting non-stop 24/7/365 for the past few years that Lucas sucks and how they want to smash a airplane into LucasFilm headquarters (or Hasbro in the case of RebelScum). The same thing could be said for political sites such as DailyKos (whose commentators still rage against "W") or on the opposite end of the spectum FreeRepublic.

If you have been coming here everyday or even every other day for the past 4 to 6 years you are going to get sick of the place. I've been doing this thing I do for the past 10 years. It's sorta unfair and unrealistic for me to produce spoilers, files, drama, or even "lol" on a regular basis year after year.

You're right, I can't find anything small enough to grab it with.

I'm keen with tighter controls. I'm even ok with the small community mentality. I like a place where I know most of the people and don't have to concern myself with most of the social graces.

I completely agree about that as I feel the same way. Or we'll see some retarded ass teenager posting stupid shit that makes you just want to fucking rip your hair out.

As far as other forums go, I still visit JWFAN. I haven't been to TFN in ages, simply because that place sucks ass. I also visit FX-Sabers.com for discussion about the Hasbro/MR FX sabers and custom FX sabers that people do. You still get retards sometimes on FX sabers but that's typical for most open forums like that. I also visit Film Score Monthly and Intrada's web forums for news about upcoming CD releases.

Sources have told this reporter that Obi-Wan Starkiller will likely take a big dump today. You heard it here first.

UPDATE: I can confirm that yesterday a big dump was taken. We'll have that story and more at 10.

Hey there, I was wondering if you could post the file that is currently on the megaupload site on the adrive site as well. I know that the better quality file is already on adrive, but due to my slow connection, it would take quite a while. Also, megaupload is banned on my network for some reason. If you could do this for the season 2 episodes, that would be wonderful! (I suppose you don't need to do this for season one because I'll be getting the box set soon.

Thanks!

Speaking of the Original-Original Trilogy DVD 2006 Discs and regarding a few points brought up by EE4 - in retrospect the only thing we didn't do right is getting ahold of DVDRips before the release date or even on or after and publically posting them. When one of members got the set early and ripped a few videos of key changed scenes it changed a few minds. Even the critics at OriginalTrilogy admit the OUT or as they call them the GOUT discs are better than any of the fan LD to DVD rips they did.

Line-by-line quoting or "multi-quoting" is looked down upon on many forums but what turned me off to that posting style is :gb2tfn: 's Communications forum. It not only starts what amounts to a two-way AIM conversation between the posters but takes up alot of screen real estate to boot. The...ellipses...thing....yeah...it...gets...on...my...nerves...in...addition...to use of extra and,, unnecessary, placement of punctuation marks??!!?!. If anything I post gets on your nerves let me know.

The Cargo Forums by and large have original content and uploads. I just uploaded the Blade Runner DVDRip Trilogy and Score in FLAC and MP3@320kbps no less!

Also, 35 people logged in during the past 24 hours.

Given the amount of people getting kicked - thread and post editing - moving - merging and deleting I'm sorta surprised this hasn't been brought up before.

I'm not sure what we should do with this first poster but it's been pointed out in this thread if you google filename + hosting site you can usually find what you're looking for.

I say we give them one free pass.

Tell them it's not cool to join the forum only to start demands or request mirrors. We can give them this searching tip and inform them that while the links are provided, these threads are about discussing the episodes. Then, if they do it again, give 'em the boot.

This is a continuation from the Dog Days aka This place is Dead thread.

This thread was split from the Hostage Crisis thread. Roasted here is on a college campus and is limited when it comes to downloads. Starwars.com and CartoonNetwork hosted the episode up until recently. Furthermore, I'm sure (as in I'm positive) you can view it on youtube. Maybe we could start posting alternative filehost mirrors.

Another related incident was one "SpaceKlown" who registered just to ask for all things the Clone Wars CGI three-episode "movie" DVDRip. So the thread was split here. Despite having an obnoxious sized avatar (which I had to resize) and being a Juggalo - I pm'ed this individual a link to said DVDRip.

I hear you guys when it comes to new members and new posting. The admin-activation of new members, which is probably the biggest obstacle to new members, is being looked at. All I want is new members who know how to use google and not be Juggalos. Is that too much to ask?

I know there are other ways to get content - music, DVDs, CW episodes, but the first place I look for them is here. MF is a great resource. Besides, I think the notion of judging a forum's success based on how many posts are made, or how many people are online, just doesn't fit what the internet is about nowadays. Hits, downloads, info-sharing, etc. are a much more accurate benchmark for the success of the site. I put an MF.com link on my site and talk up the place whenever I can. I dunno if any of it is actually helping, but it can't hurt.

And I'm sure MF would be hopping if DP decided to open the new-user, lame-posts floodgates. But that'd change the whole tone of the boards. More users and more posts mean more BS, plain and simple. Personally, I dig the no-nonsense vibe. It's refreshing to go someplace that doesn't reek of the typical forum BS. I suppose you could experiment a little with being more lenient on new users/posting styles and see how it goes. But there's no need to change just for change's sake.

Unless it's to the new MF 3.0.

We can try alternative links.

I know seriesgringas has at least 3 links most weeks for netload, hotfile and mu, so i can post those up if people want. No biggie.

in better news, we need a smilie where one smilie beats the other over the head with a 3 litre of Fago.

2008 kicked my ass. In 2009, epII; My Ass Strikes Back. I have been busier than a DNA analyst on Maury. The unfortunate consequence of the whole thing has been sattelite internet. I deleted about 15 gig of comics and just quit DL'ing and paying attention to them back in March. I have the cheapest TV service possible and I haven't seen an episode of the Clone Wars yet. The speed of this crappy $setup makes watching video online a fucking joke.

Every bit of Star Wars for me has been packed up in a box in my office since I moved 8 months ago. Except for the SW music I got around here (thanks MF) which still gets blasted in between OG gangster beats (thanks DP) found here as well, whilst driving like an idiot through Gary and the South Siyeed twice a day trying not to go broke(er). And the summer movie season was kind of a letdown too. I didn't hate it completely, but it wasn't what I was rooting for going in.

So I haven't had a lot to say. What are we talking about in here? And what's an MF 3.0? Are there fat broads there?

Yes, there are, but you've come so late to the game, that you get the ones with less than half a set of teeth.

I found what ETAndElliot4Ever said about movies since 2005 absurdly accurate. I don't know what happened, but since the last Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, nothing's gotten my attention. In fact, these days I find myself significantly better off downloading and purchasing old movies, tv shows, cartoons, etc: stuff that is actually superior in content and quality. Since 2005, the only score John Williams has come out with is Indy 4, and Williams is perhaps half the reason I even love Star Wars.

Anyway, this is actually the only message board I have ever visited regularly. And like many others, I'm insanely busy these days. Becoming a doctor sure seemed like a good idea ten years ago :whateva:

Nobody likes this forum anymore. It used to be the center of SW spoilers and major leaks circa 2004-2005. That was when I first noticed it, like most everyone else I'm sure.

I remember a friend living across the hall nearly knocked down my door after class yelling about this site I had to check out that was dropping Ep3 news, pics, etc., like crazy and I was hooked on MF from then on. Reservation was also exploding at the time and this was the first, and only, forum I ever joined. I wish there were more SW conversations about content/meanings/speculation about the movies going on, but like was said earlier its all been talked about. I'm sure TFN and others still have that going on but there is enough here that I check in a couple times a week.

Problem is many of the conversations on here I don't either have an opinion on or understand, like the sub prime meltdown. But I still come back because I like reading what you all have to say and I still laugh out loud at some of it. MF for me was one of the big reasons the prequels are my favorites if for no other reason then I got to experience them. Celebration 3, the spoilers, waiting in line for midnight showings, and even though I knew the movies were disappointments, I still enjoyed the 10 years and got really into MF. I used to post a lot back then too.

I guess what I'm saying is I really enjoy this site still, for all the stuff to read, still check old archived conversations, but I've never found my posting voice, which I suppose is actually hurting the site due to lack of content. I remember BearVomit's first couple postings and him getting litten up by people on here for how outrageous they were, so I get a kick out of his strong presence here now-a-days.

Having said all of that, a forum for talk about video games would be great. Any of them, not just SW. I am a week away from getting my Xbox Modern Warfare and joining this century officially, so I have a ton of games to catch up on like Fallout, Oblivion, Bioshock, Assassins Creed, etc. Maybe this isn't the place for that, maybe it is, but I'll still be here and enjoying what is MF these days.

awe shucks. I have a blurry reccolection of those days. They couldn't handle the TRUTH 'ol Bear was spouting to them. We all see who won the war. :funkynigga:
