After "retiring" from acting, Joaquin has taken up his rapping career which debuted last night in Las Vegas. The first video is of him losing his mind in public and the second is him actually falling offstage like a damn fool. IF this is fake and he's pretending to be high and crazy, then he's an A grade cock. He was with his brother River when he od'd so he shouldn't be making a joke out of it. another video here at TMZ with a different angle TMZ

My brother died December 31st. I'm going to Vegas for my birthday in 2weeks. I'd really like to get high and quit my job too. I wonder if I should jump-kick-start my rap career while I'm out there.

I always liked River Phoenix. As a kid he was one of my favorite guys since I saw him in Indiana Jones. It was pretty messed up when my Mother saw me watching that scene and told me he had died. Unfortunately in the early 1990's he embraced the whole grunge rock thing and started hanging out with guys like John Frusciante. I guess from there it was all over. In the retirement announcement video, his brother reminds me of River late in his life when he was clearly doing drugs. The messed up hair, indoor sunglasses, slurring and general strangeness to his words...not to mention the attitude. Here's the prologue to modern day Joaquin Phoenix:

what pisses me off are these so called "friends" that hang around these people and that CLEARLY know they're on the edge but they won't say a thing to help them. Casey Afleck is following Joaquin around now filming these antics, not doing a damn thing to stop it or intervene.

The same thing happened with Britney Spears, these hanger-ons that just want to milk as much money out of the sinking ship as they can before it goes under. These people are human beings, they need help, not encouragement.

Joaquin will be doing this soon :emo: while his friends are doing this :funky: :armscrossed: and it's really sad.

And I'm sorry about your loss, Troy. Hope you're doing ok.

Yep, I guess that came full circle for Joaquin. He stood by while River killed himself and now he seems to be following a similarly doomed path.

Can't wait 'til it's your turn to deal with a mentally afflicted adult, Mr. Vomit.

Anyway, it's pretty clear that Phoenix is out of it, but from what little evidence is available, it's very possible that Affleck is simply protecting Phoenix's career by masking the real issue as some sort of media event.

so it's cool just to stand by and watch the guy self destruct? someone said Casey is his brother-in-law. that makes it even worse. he's family not doing a damn thing. What would be the correct response there The_sonofabitchist ? I'm not saying he has to grab him and send him to a mental institution, but god damn he doesn't have to be FILMING his crash and burn just to make a few bucks. Maybe it's all a big scam and he's just being "artsy" for his new film. Hollywood is full of fuckups that get lauded for their eccentricity.

Just a publicity stunt for an actor who's not had some work for a while or he is going eccentric...

Joaquin gets in a fight at a club! video at the link in.theSun

Quote:
JOAQUIN PHOENIX was involved in a huge brawl while performing at a Miami night club last night, wrestling a heckler to the ground before being dragged off by security. The actor-turned-rapper, 34, jumped off the stage mid-way through his appearance to confront the mouthy audience member.

An enraged Joaquin, sounding a little more coherent than in recent times, announced: “We have a f***ing b**** in the audience. Nodding his head while rapping to a beat, he told the man: “I've got $1million in the bank. What have you got b****?” Joaquin – who sources say arrived four hours late for the gig at the LIV night club in the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel – then launched himself into the crowd. The crowd chanted “beat him up, beat him up” as Joaquin got stuck

This is all starting to seem like a bad Andy Kaufman impersonation. The zany disconnected megolomaniac vibe, at least.
