Thanks, Hige and sideshowtob.

Fabulous! :heavymetal: I have high hopes for this. Jackman kicks ass. I was a bit upset at them not using Tyler Mane, but Liev looks like he can handle it. The only problem is the lack of height difference between the two.

No , we need a Sabertooth that can act. Not a wrestler that growls alot, I am all for continuity as well, but Xmen 1's Sabertooth sucked balls. Victor Creed needs to have a character driven plot as well as action and violence.

IMHO of course.

oh and I agree with you about the height issue,

What? tyler mane can't act? What about these lines from X1?

"Scream for me."

"With them"

"You owe me a scream"

I think I've made my point. :schoolyou:

Those are the lines that got him all those monologues in Halloween.

Yeah, it's really the continuity thing for me. I hate recasting. It's like the whole Rachel thing with TDK.

As did I, and I'm going to hate the recasting of War Machine in Iron Man 2, etc....

AICN says EXTENSIVE reshoots are going on right now for the movie. wonder where they got the money to do that all of a sudden?? :handjob:

Quote:
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Hot on the heals of news of a settlement in Fox's legal action against Warner Bros over WATCHMEN we get news (courtesy of the good folks at Collider) that massive reshoots are underway in Vancouver at the moment.

Not that that's totally unexpected. We heard nothing but nightmare stories about the initial round of photography. Gavin Hood had a rough time, let's just leave it at that.

But it seems that Hood is in charge of these extensive reshoots, so maybe there's some hope for the project. Gavin Hood's a good director and Jackman's great in the role, so I want this movie to work and if it takes a shitload of reshoots and Hood getting his way maybe they can save this project, which I had honestly written off.

Good to know people have so much hope for this film.

Stop giving good projects to terrible talent.

Hugh Jackman just wrote personally to AICN to quiet the flames going on.

[hr]
Harry: Now, before we go on to this - you should know that officially this is what is happening. You won't hear from any official source the problems that have occurred on this film. That said, there is very very good news. DARK KNIGHT's rather phenomenal success is helping the creatives behind WOLVERINE to unleash the sort of Wolverine that we're hoping for, let's hope for the best, cuz honestly wouldn't we all want an amazing WOLVERINE movie... set in Japan... ahem. HELLFIRE CLUB... well, if we are ever to see any of that - this one has to work. Let's hope that the work in frozen Vancouver will do exactly that.

Hugh Jackman:

Hey Mate- Would you mind posting this? Thank you for your support! HJ

Hey everyone -

It's Hugh Jackman, sending this note from freezing Vancouver. I have read a lot of your online comments regarding the footage that we are currently shooting and I share your passion for the Wolverine character and the movie - I owe it all to you guys!

I wanted to reach out and let you know that due to scheduling conflicts with certain cast members and location/weather considerations, we had to wait until now to shoot a couple of scenes. Please rest assured that WOLVERINE will be badass and hopefully meet all of your expectations. I am stoked by the positive response to the teaser, which clearly reflects the tone and scope of the film. If you like that, we've got much more in store!

In the meantime, here's an exclusive shot of some characters you may recognize...

Cheers,

Hugh

My big thing with deadpool is attitude. I understand the looks you want the character to be somewhat appealing, and let's face it, outside the uniform, he's not, visually at least. If they get his mouth and attitude right, then I'm fine.

Yeah, as long as he's batshit insane, I don't mind if he at least starts out less fugly. Deadpool is great though, I hope they did him right.

Who is the girl supposed to be?

I'm pondering why Wraith and Maverick aren't in the picture if it's supposed to be a Weapon X picture.

I'm not sure I want over-the-top Deadpool in this.

It may work in the comic, but I don't want that for the movie. This needs TDK tone. Don't get me wrong, I don't think every new comic book movie has to be like TDK. However, this is one that does. It has to be gritty and very mean.

As for Gambit, well, that kid wouldn't have been my first choice. I wanted Josh Holloway from LOST. Didn't everyone?

However, I'm willing to give him a chance.

And honestly, Remy can't look like he does in the comic book. That would be ridiculous. I’m not sure one could get away with that outfit even at Mardi Gras.

He's got the staff, the trench coat, etc. That's fine. The only thing I could complain about would be the hair. It needs to be a vivid auburn.

Yeah it's lame how they don't even bother trying to incorporate his claws with his hands anymore, unlike in the first X-men movie where they at least tried to show how these things actually come out of his hands.

What's worse though is how they don't touch up the still photographs of Wolverine.

The more I see of the flick the more nervous I'm starting to get.

I think it'll definitely have its moments, but equal to X2 it will not be.

Question: why do so many place such high emphasis/praise on X2? I can barely remember anything about that movie and I've seen it numerous times! :psyduckexplode:

1. It was the first Marvel movie to successfully adapt a marvel comic; keeping it fresh yet still retaining the spirit of the comics
2. The big name actors showed up and had fun with their roles - the results were terrific
3. The opening Nightcrawler sequence is spectacular and creative
4. Singer injected plenty of Marvel X-men lore without detracting from the particular story

I think if you're a marvel comic book fan, it's probably the best Marvel movie made; some might argue second best with the release of Iron Man. But I might even give X2 the edge because it could spend more time on characters and story.

I think what made it special for fans was that it left us with the feeling that Singer 'got it'. It's almost as if he took what was so awesome about the comic, and was adapted brilliantly to television, and took the next step to the silver screen.

Spider-man felt tacky and too hollywood (not to mention the casting was mediocre, the effects felt wrong for the character and the writing was fucking horrid) and the rest of the Marvel projects have generally been disasters.

I'd have to agree with you CoGro... although I am literally the only person in the world that liked Spiderman 3! And for that matter... X-Men! (ducks from the rocks thrown at screen)

Then again I think I probably swing towards the first X-Men movie as being the truest?

I'm a sheep but I also like it when the movie version of a comic book to take a few liberties, chances, risks, etc. The problem I have with most of these movies is that they don't go all out and decide to keep it subtle, safe or whatever. That's my concern with this Wolverine movie, as opposed to the Transformers movies which seem to go all-out apeshit spectacular.

My problem with the original X-Men is it seems almost totally separate from X2. Before the sequel came out I thought X-Men was a great movie. I don't know what it is. The look and feel is a bit different. Almost cheap I guess. Fox at the time didn't know what it had and maybe didn't want to throw a gazillion dollars at it without knowing how it would fare. That plus it felt like an origin tale. Like they wanted to acquaint the non-Xmen fans to the characters and had a very simple plot to keep it moving.

Maybe since Singer was an unknown commodity (at least in the special effects dept) they didn't want to let go of the reins too much. X2 is a totally different film.

I liked the way the first X-Men movie treated Wolverine; cigar chomping outsider, brutal, raw, shit-talking, etc. He wasn't a very nice guy. That part of his character, which IMO should always be there, was lost in the sequels.

Funny thing is practically the only thing I'm looking forward to with this movie is the relationship between Wolverine and Sabertooth. I'm liking Liev as 'tooth, although I agree he is a bit on the plain side.

Yeah, his look does bother me.

I remember when people said that Mane's look was too understated.

Many would now kill to get that look back.

Still, I'm pretty excited about the flick.
