I'm getting it.

Quote:
We have smuggling compartments that fit all the requisite figures, and a light-up holochess table. How’s that?

The knob is for the radar, and it seems that the training remote has its own mechanisms. The med bay is the resting area by the ramp door, and I was overly excited when I posted that it was behind the "secret" doors. (Still have no idea what they do.) The med bay does seem to have some cool features, like the ability to plug in Luke’s tourniquet. The comm-chair (as some have noted) also has a plug for Han’s headset. It’s very interactive, no?

Is there an escape pod? No. An escape pod wouldn’t be aggressive enough, if you know what I mean. Regarding the doorway, I think it’s sealed off so chubby little hands don’t get trapped inside. The jury is still out on that.

Awesome to see the accurate main hold with the computer and Han's chair. A cockpit with room for four figures! Turret station, sickbay, smuggling compartments, electronic Dejarik chess, seeker ball, mystery door shit! That old Kenner one was such crap in the modern like. Anyone else unfortunate enough to have to cram and pack buff The Power Of The Force figures into that thing? Jesus.

It'll be a wide release I guess, rumored for July when the new Legacy Collection figures should be hitting. This thing is just excellent and it reminds me a lot of the awesome Episode I Naboo Royal Starship. That was more of a playset than a vehicle with assloads of electronics like this baby, even an eerily similar and asinine "mini-fighter". Where did that come from? The dejarik chess pieces look like they came right off the Power Of The Jedi Chewie's table. Luke's pivoting electronic seeker ball is badass, but I hope they either pack in the helmet or include it with a future Luke figure as pictured on the box. Can't wait to get this hunk of junk.

The MILLENNIUM FALCON was by far my fav toy growing up, i had so many good times w/ that ship. I remember getting it for xmas and it was bad ass sitting up on landing pads and it felt like my first car. My men could get around and plenty of room for their gear. I would lay on the floor and gaze at that ship parked here or there and it inspired my imagination. It was fun around the house but always had this sense of freedom like when taking it to my grandma’s place in the East Texas piney woods…not so unlike Endor, but piney.

The model I had was likely first release material and so I had a problem w/ the landing gear giving out and not holding up the ships weight, they began to sag after a while. I don’t recall my old one having the underbelly gun you saw in empire strikes back, nor do I see it for this new one. This one seems so big, I’m unsure the size of the older ones but I wonder if a kid could fly this one around so easy like I did my old fav.

The Millennium Falcon toy is the main reason why I acquired this domain, which is the correct spelling by the way (2 L's, 2 N's). One issue I had with the Vintage and POTJ release were the loose covers, ramps, and cockpit hatches. Out of the whopping 4 Falcon's I owned, only two of them had proper fitting covers.

Regarding the new Millennium Falcon, some more images are out.

Another re-release is the Large-Scale Tie Fighter, done in vintage white with new-style cockpit hatch and new-style 2004 Tie-Fighter Pilot.

I'm gonna get rid of my SAGA one and pickup this baby.

Wow that thing definitely looks really nice. I am going to buy it when it's available. I was wondering where the escape pods were on the Falcon, pretty cool to finally know that.

Bad time for me, frakkin' anniversary.

Why launch the MF and the AT-TE at the same time? You know people can only afford one.

Wired.com was supposed to reveal the new Millennium Falcon 2008 before GH.com leaked it.

Below is how Wired.com was supposed to premiere it :whateva:

Millennium Falcon

Yes, we owned the first Millennium Falcon toy, released back in 1979. Everyone else did, too, and Hasbro made all those flocks of the 17-inch craft from the same molds. Forms that finally, three decades later, have worn out. Luckily, Hasbro called in the original designer and let him go to town on a new version. On his to-do list: Make the cockpit actually fit four heroes — like in the movie, hello! — and use a dimmer switch so the lights flicker to better evoke the real ship's sputtering engines. The updated vehicle is about a foot longer and, at $150, costs around $50 more than its predecessor. And, of course, the bucket of bolts still makes the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs

It's a Cemetery Warrior from KOTCS.

I'm passing on the AT-TE. The Falcon, however, is impossible for me to pass up on. I'm kind of thankful that the majority of Star Wars stuff this year will be animated Clone Wars, which I'm totally uninterested in. I'll be able to save up for the Falcon and all the Indiana Jones stuff I'm amassing.

In addtion to getting the Millennium Falcon 2008, I'm definately getting the AT-TE although my enthusiasm for has somewhat subsided due to it's inclusion of the shitaetous Clone Wars Animated Clone Trooper pack-in and "sounds from the new series".

Hasbro has indicated that the Millennium Falcon 2008 will be shipping until the end of the year. So I should be able to pick up a AT-TE for Thanksgiving and Millennium Falcon 2008 for Christmas :)

Hasbro also updated their website with a AT-TE story.

[hr]
The All-Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE) blasted its way into battle for the first time at the Battle of Geonosis, and proceeded to unleash its aggressive power all through the Clone Wars. This armored assault vehicle moves with unyielding intimidation toward enemy fortifications, plowing through energy shields and firing its six lasers and a heavy projectile cannon all the way. Its interior can hold a squad of clone troopers that can be quickly deployed for ground combat.

The AT-TE has many features that lend themselves to defending the Republic or an offensive attack against the advancing droid army. The 3 ¾” AT-TE features include:

• Built-in blaster rifle and pistol racks
• Firing main cannon with blasting sounds and lights
• Multi-rotational front cannons – adjust one and they all move together
• Articulated legs
• Includes clone trooper figure for exciting battle action
• Auto-deploy opening hatch – deploy your troopers into battle
• Vehicle walking sounds
• Six firing “laser” turrets
• Authentic clone trooper phrases from the Clone Wars series
• Holds up to 20 figures

Never before has the galaxy seen a vehicle with so many features that can inundate the battle field with fire power and clone troopers. You can be unstoppable with the AT-TE when the droid army mounts a threat. Now is the time to ready yourself for the Clone Wars and what better way than reserving space in your collection for the massive AT-TE. Stay tuned for more exciting news from Hasbro!

May the Force be with you!

There are only two minor issues I have with this and that are the cannon's firing missles - which tend to get lost or come out easily ( I may deactivate the firing mechanism and glue the missles in) and the thin wall which I may cut out.

Below is a video of the Millennium Falcon 2008. The demonstrator claims the original mold wore out after 30 years so Kenner now owned by Hasbro had to design a new one.

That somewhat annoys me, as it implies that if the mold hadn't worn out, we'd be getting typical Hasblow Kwality.

The Millennium Falcon 2008 is not going to be exclusive to any one store and Hasbro indicated they are going to pump em out well into next year.

July 26 2008 is D-Day for the new Millennium Falcon, along with the new Legacy Figures, the Animated Clone Wars Figures and the AT-TE.

That is good to know. At least I can rest easy knowing I can pick the Falcon up any time. I am not sure where the hell I'm gonna display it though. I guess I better get some shelves up in my room.

I've been toying with the idea of making a display stand out of my old one, but I think it might be too small. Out of context, this sentence could be really embarassing, fyi.

I'm not going to pass up getting this bad boy, since I remember when I got my first one back in the days-o-Kenner and that was '79. I'll probably end up displaying it in my studio so I can admire it (read 'play with') between art projects.

Hopefully I can find this baby over the weekend. I might attend Midnight Madness but then I had a bad experience at the ROTS one where basically the first 20-30 people in line used carriages as ramming devices. I don't want to get into a fistfight over some Star Wars toys.

For a purchase this big I may wait till Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Eve to pick up the Millennium Falcon 2008 and AT-TE.

There are a few things I have a problem with the new MF. There is no doorway connecting the cockpit and the main saucer, the thin plastic wall between the medical bay area and lightsaber training area, firing missiles, and the mini-pod.

The mini-pod is most likely going into the recycle bin and I may just cut out the thin wall and the cockpit doorway. Hopefully the covers stay in place. On the Millennium Falcon O.G. the landing ramp wouldn't stay shut

One great version of the MF is the Millennium Falcon PlaySkool. The cockpit was connected to the cargo area, and the sounds it emitted - this thing was as loud as a Marshall Stack :jammin:

Waited 1.5 hours at Toys R Us, walked out within 10 minutes. There were a bunch of costumed characters and a shitload of kids. I couldn't spot any Legacy ROTJ figures so I just high-tailed it out of there once I had the Falcon (and double checked for TDK Movie Masters and IJ Last Crusade figures). The ladies at the register were saying I'd be charged for the exclusive hologram Grievous figure and I'd have to come back Sunday with the receipt for a refund. However, I absolutely didn't want the figure so I told them to forget about it. Overall I'm satisfied I got my Falcon but totally uninterested in the Clone Wars toys. Forget that.

EDIT: Okay I didn't end up going to sleep, instead I just assembled the Falcon. I'm in awe but I'll reflect on what's great and not so great about it. First of all, as we well know, it's fucking huge. I got the Kenner 1995 POTF re-issued Falcon for Christmas when I was younger. As big as toys like that and the AT-AT are, the new Falcon dwarfs them. The exterior is great looking and you got both quad cannons (one fires missiles) and even the anti-Snowtrooper cannon, which is just awesome. One thing I don't like is the landing gear, which is a bit loose and seem like they could very well snap sometime in the future of our adventures. A glaring omission is Lando's hatch. I would've loved that, but whatever.

Inside, there's almost everything I would've asked for. As opposed to that awful Kenner interior (cool for 1978), here there are for the most part great movie-accurate rooms including the obligatory main hold, corridor, quad station and Luke's bed. The cockpit also seats four people, finally. The only things I really don't like here are the lack of a hallway to the cockpit and the training remote. It's on a string hanging from a plastic rod thing that turns via the radar dish. Something about it just looks wackily out of place. Another thing I'm not particularly fond of is a random bedroom next to Luke's bed and the lame escape pod thing. Rather than doing those things, I would've preferred they just connect the cockpit to the rest of the playset with a hallway and add Lando's elevator.

Han and Chewie are included. The Chewie is arguably the best version of him ever released. It's a repainted 2005 Early Bird set figure, which was VOTC Chewie with a non-roaring head and minus the lame yellow puke stains on his fur. This version is repainted and mine has super loose joints. Han is last year's with the non-removable headset. The swivel arms are lame but the figure's decent.

Overall, well worth the 160 bucks. I've yet to try out the electronics or attach the decals. I hate doing that. Unfortunately, there are a few. :whateva:

How well do the covers stay? The cockpit canopy cover, smuggling compartment cover, and top covers that is.

I never put stickers on and the mini-pod is going in the recycle bin (trash). Regarding the landing gear pegs, I've read on RebelScum and SirSteve's forums that if one switches them around there is a tighter fit. The lightsaber remote, I hate to say this but - tampon string :XD:

There maybe some interior renovation done on mine when I eventually get one. The cockpit hallway looks like it could be taken out with a drill and hacksaw. The thin wall is probably going down also, unless it is need to support the top covers of course.

The Legacy Collection is the only line I'm interesting in and the Return Of The Jedi Deleted Scene figgas are most likely going to populate my MF 2008. The Clone Wars "realistic" wave, I'll probably pickup eventually. The animated Clone Wars line: :vfuckoff:

I was at Wally World earlier and when I browsed by the toy section, there it was as big as life. The big huge fucking box for the MF. Of course I didn't actually see the toy itself just how big the box was and my jaw dropped like a mother fucker. I could have only imagined what my parents would say if I had $150 to spare right now and they saw me checking out with that thing. I bet you shipping on that fucker will be $20-30 alone if I ordered it from Amazon.

The landing gear became a gigantic pain in the ass and fell out when I braved the attaching of the decals. I always hated this part of the field. Seriously, does anyone like this? Many of the Falcon's decals are fairly difficult to attach for the same old reasons: the locations (all interior) are in tight spaces and occasionally bizarre areas, like one that goes under the radar dish facing a wall. Ridiculous. Plus these decals are really easy to accidentally tear, as I found out numerous times. Also sucks to screw up and have to remove the decal and replace it. Don't do that.

The smuggling compartment door fell off when I had the ship upside down to fix the crappy landing gear. It seems to be similarly cheapo. The cockpit hatch is fine. It comes off kind of easily, but it stays up.

Image

Please note that there seems to be a holder on the wall next to Ben for Luke's blast shield helmet. The helmet was made for a Luke figure in like 1998 (!) and is still compatible with Lukes of today. Hasbro actually teases people on the back of the Falcon's box portraying the ship with numerous VOTC figures (pictured here) that haven't been made available in years since their initial $10 rip-off vintage cardback gimmick. Apparently, these aren't due for re-release on basic cards this year in the horribly titled and conceived "Saga Legends" subline. Rather, we'll have more Ewok Throne C-3PO's, just-released TAC Waves 1 and 2, Clone Troopers that never, ever in a million years clog the pegs and yet again a Grievous that's now being totally outdone and made even less relevant by the Legacy Collection. :what:

I see on the previous post that it took a ford truck to haul this sucker home.

There is a Millennium Falcon Battle Pack featuring Luke, Ben Kenobi, and the droids that comes with accessories such as: severed hand tourniquet for Luke and mynock gas masks.

Image

galactichunter.com is reporting that Hasbro held a focus group over the Millennium Falcon 2008 and took suggestions. Namely a cockpit to cargo area hallway and elevator for Lando to rescue Luke.

What means we'll be spending $150 more for a newer - "improved" MF down the road.

I love attaching decals. Seriously. To anyone who wants to mail me their Falcon, I'll assemble it with OCD perfection.

I almost broke down and bought this along with some First Day of Issue figgas. It is indeed huge. I also noticed my Wal-Mart raised the $19.95 vehicles to $28.95. In the end though, I walked out with some Indiana Jones instead.

ET, what's behind that circular door to Ben's left?

It's the little docking bay for the mini-fighter.

What means we'll be spending $150 more for a newer - "improved" MF down the road.

I'd buy it. There are several things they could do. Ditch the mini-fighter and add the Lando-vator there. It doesn't have to be movie-accurate and take 5-10 seconds for him to reach the top, just feature it as awesomely as they did all the other stuff. Also, if they were to retool the cockpit with a hallway, make the door able to open and close, since it was always doing that.

They could do a nice push for an ESB version in a few years if they were to release new versions of characters. We haven't seen a decent Bespin Han since 2000. There also isn't a good version of Lando where his cape can be removed like when he's piloting the ship. No good Hoth or Bespin Leias, they could do Threepio with his leg removed. Since it barely featured into Jedi they could just give us a nice new Nien Numb and General Lando somewhere down the line. I think an MF Pilots multi-pack would be too much to ask.

Coming this Christmas shopping season: Death Star Playset (or part of) followed up by a Big Ass Slave 1 & Big Ass AT-AT for 2010(?)

... Big Death Star playset. More than one even. ... Expect Phase 1 at "holiday" time here in the states.

Two bits from those rogues from Rhode Island…

Out-of-the-gate sales of the BMF were shockingly good. Now we have to see how she plays out with parents through the holidays.

2010 is the year we mark the 30th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, and two ships really stand out from that film, don’t they? (It’s two-for-Tuesday.) ...

As in Slave 1, which would be the perfect ship to get the next "BMF" sized upgrade. In fact, it is the next ship getting the BMF upgrade ...

The other vehicle up for stupor sizing comes in many models ... What has four legs, two chin blasters, and could use some sprucing up to match the modern weaponry of the AT-TE? If you say the AT-AT, you’re right.
