It's suprising how well the Mustafar playset was remade into a Indiana Crystal Skull playset yet still looks like Mustafar.

I've been picking these up all day. I have most of everything 3 3/4" from the first two waves that are now available. Still need the badass Cargo Truck and some of the Raiders figures, as well as some additional German Soldier army builders. Holy shit these are awesome. While I had to sift through the racks and reject many a figure due to absolutely horrible paintwork, on the whole I'm astounded by this line's greatness. I'm in awe.

The Last Crusade images converted me - those are awesome. The accessories are what puts them over the top. The Indiana Jones line can hold us over till this fall when The Legacy Collection starts shipping.

I grabbed all of wave 1 and the deluxe assortment. I had to get two of Indy's horse, it's just so great! It was one of those moments that completely made me a kid again.

Well I picked up a three of the new figures: Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark) w/ Idol and Indiana Jones (Crystal Skull era) w/ Bazooka in addtion to shelfwarmer Mutt w/ Snake and I'm sorry to say that I'm not impressed :(

Indiana Jones w/ Bazooka can barely hold anything but came a pimpy knife artifact which I placed on his belt whip holder. Later I'll probably attach his bazooka to his hand with one of those spare rubberbands. No fedora and the included whip is :vfuckoff: The leg joints on mine are very loose. Indiana Jones w/ Idol is the best of the three. The fedora is molded part of the head. A working holster and better whip also :monocle: Mutt w/ Snake is going in the recycle bin.

I'll still give the line another chance but it's hard to when the shelves are bare

I have to add that I am also unimpressed with this line. A 20 yr wait for widespread Indy merch, and we get terrible looking face sculpts (Marion has the generic female face, the best Indy w/Idol I could find had a long face, so he looks like old Harrison at best), terrible paint jobs (EVERY figure has crossed eyes, confused eyebrows) and lame accessories. I say this as a person who rumages and raids the Toy-r-Us for the most decent of figures while my girlfriend complains and stands around embarrased. At least with the SW line 8 out of 10 Han Solo figures resemble Harrison Ford somewhat. The worst thing I've seen is the talking Indy with a face that is a cross between Anthony Lapaglia & Daniel Baldwin. Seriously, fat face. Terrible. And Mutt w/snake a shelf warmer? Not compared to nondescript 'German Solder'. I'd hate to be the child who gets that figure for Xmas from grandma - "oh I knew you liked India Johnson so I got this for you honey. . ."

Btw, has anyone pre-ordered any of the Sideshow Indy stuff? I have a Premium Format Indy ordered (beautiful, missed out on the 'no-hat' exclusive but I'll live) and I'm kind of torn between the Sideshow 'Raiders' Indy and the Medicom Indy, which has a 'Last Crusade' vibe. Just wondering if anyone else has been thinking about picking these up.

Aside from the Map Room one, all the ROTLA Indy figures are weak. Some people prefer the Deluxe versions (the Horse one w/ gloves for instance) to the carded, but I personally think they're all very weak.

The single-carded Indy with the Idol is the worst offender. The likeness stinks, he has no neck, the big holster is ridiculous and mine won't close (therefore, I can't describe it as "working"). The accessories are good, however.

The Cairo Indy with the whipping action (don't get me started on how this doesn't work) can pull of the iconic pose, but the figure in general is again weak.

The best Indy is the KOTCS version with the jacket and removable hat. Find one that's got decent paint apps and the likeness is honestly pretty good for the scale of figures, and it does look like Indy. The removable hat is kind of strange but a very cool feature, and it looks better in person.

I like the jacketed Mutt and he looks fairly accurate, but the snake one doesn't do much for me. Same goes for the rocket launcher Indy, aside from the accessory. I think the best part about those particular figures is the heads. I may swap them with the jacket versions because they seem better.

All in all I'm fairly satisfied with most of what I've gotten (everything). The figures will get better. Just look at the Last Crusade ones coming in July.

Image

I believe the best-produced toy in the line so far is arguably the German Soldier with Motorcycle. The only fault I can find is the solid-spoke front wheel, but it isn't really a big deal. So cool I got four, waiting for Henry and Jr.

Paint apps are usually adjusted by Hasbro a few weeks after the initial batch. So if you don't want to pick through, it might be best to wait until another shipment comes in. There is no excuse for the head sculpt on Indiana, however, especially after we received the VOTC Han Solo.

If you're looking for a high-end collectible and have the money, there's no better offering than the Indiana Jones Cinemaquette.

Well I'm definitely getting the deluxe German Trooper w/ Motorcycle as it appears to have the quality associated with his pimpy Clone Trooper brethren from the Anniversary Collection. The deluxe line as a whole seems to be pretty awesome with it's mini-playsets and horse pack-ins.

It's just that two out of three figgas I got are probably going to be thrown out. I'll give the Indiana Jones w/ Crystal Skull Bazooka another chance since I got a Gree along with it which also had loose joints ( :weed: ). The Crystal Skull Cemetery and Native Warriors look and hopefully they won't have issues..

The Indiana Jones vehicles are  also especially @ only $19.99

Yeah in terms of quality and coolness: Indiana Jones Troopers & Warriors = Clone Troopers

Just got the Crystal Skull Native Warrior, a replacement Indiana Jones w/ Crystal Skull Bazooka, deluxe Indiana Jones w/ Ark and deluxe German Trooper w/ Motorcycle.

Crystal Skull Native Warrior is of Star Wars Anniversary quality. Giant arrow-head is the pack-in artifact. Also big-ass scalping tomahawk for any wandering paleface: :chainsaw:

The replacement 1957-era Indiana Jones w/ Crystal Skull bazooka had tighter joints ( ) but the hips still very loose and after fastening the surface-to-air rocket launcher to his hand with a spare rubber ( :XD: ), I've come around on this figure.

The deluxe Indiana Jones in Al Qaeda Garb w/ Ark. This figure is based upon 1957-era Indiana Jones w/ Crystal Skull Bazooka. Since I now have an extra I can swap heads. Again, tighter joints in all save for the hips but his Robe restricts his movement. The Ark pack-in is :bankheadbounce2: and can store Indiana Jones accessories such as spare heads, pistols & whips, and the fertility Idol.

German Trooper = fucking cool

With soft goods "clone trooper-esque" kama (butt cape) to boot. The motorcycle pack-in has superfast spinnaz with actual rubber used for it's rims. Sub-machine gun is pretty useless but Luger pistol fits snuggly in closeable, working holster located on a well-armed utility belt. German Trooper also has a removable helmet. :monocle:

The German troopers definitely have an army-building flavor to them and are of excellent quality. None of which are overly common in my area, I might add. Toy Nazi armies are great, but the question is, will Hasbro print the swastika on Cmdr. Vogel's armband?

Seeing as how they've left the swastika off of everything else so far, I assume the trend will continue with Vogel. The lack of swastikas isn't bothering me.

Toy News International has hi-res loose and carded pics of the Last Crusade wave. Vogel's armband is all black. Yeah, these look to be the best figures yet. Cannot wait for the Young Indy and Henry Sr.

Well this was was a good day for Dr Jones or fans of, got Crystal Skull Cemetery Warrior, Indiana Jones /w Crystal Skull, and the Jungle Cutter. I'll edit in more thoughts after I listen to the soundtrack. :bouncin: :bounce: :bouncin:

Indiana Jones w/ Crystal Skull - The best Indiana figga out there so far. The removal hat and interchangable hands puts this figga over the top. Although the Crystal Skull is molded to Indiana's replaceable + removable hand. Was going to pick up Irina Spalko figga for it's Crystal Skull pack-in however the one that was on the shelf had face paint issues.

On related a figga note, I managed to close the "working" holster on Indiana Jones w/ Fertility Idol so that figga just became a little more fly.

Crystal Skull Cemetery Warrior - For some reason Cemetery Warrior and Native Warrior were one of my must-gets. Cemetery Warrior comes with a [s]pimp cane[/s] blowdart pipe staff and has a flip up visor. By flip up, one really has to peel it up:

Image

Crystal Skull Jungle Cutter - I'm glad that Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Raiders Of The Lost Ark 2: The Crystal Skull stuff is being released at the same time. This vehicle would look right at home on Kashyyyk. On it's hull are footpegs for various figgas. Aboard my cutter is Cemetery Warrior, Native Warrior, and Indiana Jones w/ Surface2Air Anti-Aircraft Launcher.

Image

(above) This Hot Rod's cutters has a bulldozer-type attachment that can be launched by pressing one of the exhaust pipes.

I've sent away for one but after seeing the movie I kinda want a lot of them. I'm filling up a few more of redemption sheets.

Since seeing the movie, I have some thoughts on the toys. First of all, the jacket-less Mutt figure. He never loses the jacket like that in the movie -- not once. The figure is good for the head, which is for some reason preferable to the other figure's head, plus the knife and snake accessories. The rocket-launcher Indy is just ridiculous because he uses the rocket launcher while wearing his jacket and hat. Where the hell's the hat? Did Hasbro just release half-assed re-tools with exclusive accessories? Apparently so.

It's strange they made the Jungle Cutter. Surely, it would have been perfect for an action sequence in the movie, but it's destroyed after only a few seconds of screen time. This would be like something that's never produced for good reason and fans petition to get made for no apparent reason. It would have made more sense to make one of the amphibious vehicles. The Spalko figure should really be re-done. She's not sturdy at all and even the new repainted versions (you can tell the new ones by the way certain figures are posed in the bubble) just don't look very good.

I agree with alot of collectors on here that this line is weak. The likeness of Indy on any figure in the line is horrid.

Of course I ran out and got a stockpile of these figures. My favorites are from the Raiders line so far ( Monkey Man, Cairo Swordsman, Belloq, Deluxe Indy w/ Ark) Those figs actually have some good likeness IMO.

Again some of the quality of the 3 3/4" line is disappointing. The sword accessories that come with Marion, Arab Troopers, and Spalko are way too bendable. Irina Spalko has huge articulation gaps in the joints. The only good thing about the Spalko figure is the huge ass Crystal Skull that comes with her.

ImageImage

12" or 1/6 Scale Dovchenko. Hasbro's Indiana 12" are much better than their recent Star Wars line before it was farmed out to SideShow - if one discounts the two Indiana's facial details.

Plus if you were to collect 4 of these you can send away for the big-ass Ark. Which should be getting easier because I am beginning to see the 12", 1/6 scale line marked down at least at Target for $16.99.

Be on the lookout for the Last Crusade wave. I picked up young Indy and TLC Indiana, which has an awesome likeness that blows past every other figure of the character. Also I passed on the Droid Factory 2-packs, while at $10 a pop might be a good deal, weren't worth $60 altogether.

Since the Last Crusade wave likely won't turn up around here for some time given the ridiculous abundance of waves 1 and 2 (and especially those notorious rocket launcher Indys and Mutts), I ordered the Young Indy from Big Bad Toy Store. A week and half later, there it was. This is a great figure. The likeness rocks (undoubtedly River Phoenix, as opposed to the bizarre likenesses of Harrison Ford Indys) and the paint job on mine is much better than online pics had led me to believe. There's room for improvement, especially the eyes, but hopefully someday I'll find a better figure in the wild.

A few things annoyed me. First of all, the Cross Of Coronado is sculpted onto (under) his Hopi belt. Now, it looks fine. I was actually surprised the belt and Cross weren't sloppily painted. However, having the artifact fixed onto the belt like that is kinda lame. Even though the Hovitos Temple Indy couldn't really hold the idol, he still came with it. Young Indy does include the Cross as his relic, but it's too big when compared to the figures. In regards to articulation, one feature I missed was swiveling wrists. The ankles aren't articulated either, but it actually looks better in my opinion due to the fact that young Indy wore leggings.

The whole Boy Scout (World War II) uniform is really well done and super authentic right down to his Life Scout patch, the designs on his Indian belt and his removable neckerchief. There's no real reason to remove it, but the fact that it's a separate piece gives the figure more depth. They sculpted his long-ass blonde bangs parted to the sides. The hair is too big to get KOTCS Indy's fedora over. I'd like to see a retool at some point with a new belt minus the Cross or at least an alternate head wearing either the Boy Scout hat or the fedora. Indy comes with a snake (a bit larger than the ones he encountered) and the bullwhip he used to tame the lion. The handle should actually be red and I can't say I'm a fan of the pose, but I'll probably customize a new one for him in the future.

The first 10 minutes of Last Crusade has always been my favorite scene in the Indy movies. As a kid, I watched this part the most and I guess I maybe identified more with the younger Indy. I still believe to this day this scene was the best thing to come out of the series. I'm thrilled they made this figure, and it's easily my favorite yet. Def pick this one up.

Indy stuff is on clearance. I picked up figures for $3.00 at Wal-Mart and I'll be sending away for 12 Crystal Skeleton w/ Thrones tomorrow.

Deluxe are marked down to $7.00, Titanium $5.00, vehicles and 12" around $12 or $13. Some people are reporting dept. stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall's having some of the rarer stuff for cheap prices. Now's the time to collect.
