Well, I've already read a lot about Season Four spoiler-wise and like where things are going. SPOILERS AHEAD!

[spoil]

The reason Jack was so fucked up in the future is the guilt he has. Six of the survivors will make it off of the island and will become celebrities back at home. They are called the Oceanic Six. Jack is guilty for leaving everyone else behind because, you know Jack, he told everyone he would get them off the island.

From what I'm reading so far, it seems that the "Not Penny's Boat" people are as bad as Ben would have you believe. How the six get off the island (deal? betrayal?) I have no idea. But it seems at the beginning of the season, the survivors will be split up into two camps: Locke and Jack. Sawyer is with Locke I know, but not much more than that.

Can't fucking wait! The wife and I just got done rewatching all 3 seasons. I thought the show was going to originally on Monday nights? Did it switch? Either way, can't wait, even if we only get 8 episodes right now. I'm just ready for some good tv again. :heavymetal:

This amazes me. These guys made a huge deal out of the fact that they were going to wrap it up in 48 more episodes, spread over 3 seasons. They assured the viewing public that they had an ending in mind all the time, and that they knew exactly where they were going. Season 4 wasn't going to begin airing until January. And yet they only managed to write 8 episodes between May and November (that's 6 months), when work was stopped due to the writers' strike -- something that I'm sure did not come as a surprise to anyone.

How is it that shows that launched in September managed to get more episodes written than LOST, with its longer lead time? Will these guys ever live up to their own hype?

Yeah, I have to agree, AK.

For them to announce that it will all be done in 48 more episodes and then wind up with only eight completed after all this time simply reeks. Hell, I was annoyed when they decided to spread two typical seasons into three shortened seasons.

But I'm just happy to get the show back since I don't think we're getting any 24 on FOX this year.

Stuff I want to know:

Why did Locke kill that semi-hot Limey chick?
Who is that old man in the chair?
How much will Claire freak when she finds out Charlie is dead?
When is somebody simply going to kill that mother&^*(%@ Ben?
When is Jack going to screw somebody? His masturbation count must be off the charts.

One thing I would like to see is Juliet's breasts pop out, that chick has an amazing rack. Other than that I trust that we will get the answers we need.

In regards to the 8 episodes it was a smart business move by the writers. First, if they win the strike (which is probably not going to happen now) they get a bigger piece of the pie by not having completed season 4. If they come out empty handed, hey they finished 8 episodes and now it's time to finish the rest, so all in all it's a win win. Still sucks, but smart move on their part.

Dude, rent Gia. She has lesbo sex with a young Angelina Jolie and there's plenty of delicious nudity. :heavymetal:

As to the writers, you make a good point. They knew they were going to strike. I doubt they were rushing to get scripts done for any shows.

Except that given their batting average, you have to figure that at least 2 of these new episodes are going to suck. And if this "season" ends with only 8 new episodes instead of the promised 16, that might be the one thing that finally kills their already declining audience.

Just for clarification, the Lost Premiere is only 1 hour. ABC is using an hour long recap of the first 3 seasons at 8 pm ET.

Special: Past, Present & Future
Airdate: January 31, 2008 at 8 p.m.

* 01/19 - ABC once again invites new and avid "Lost" viewers to take another look at one of the most talked about and critically acclaimed shows. "LOST: Past, Present & Future" will explore the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date -- but which current viewers will also find illuminating in anticipation of the fourth season premiere episode. The special will take an in-depth look at the mysteries of both the island and its inhabitants and recap the secrets that have been revealed, as well as those that remain unanswered. Source: ABC

LMAO...yeah, "Kangaroo Town" does get LOST, but we won't get it till weeks (or months) after the US does. Occasionally they "fast-track" episodes to us a couple of days later...

Either way, I've given up on free-to-air telly a LOOOONG time ago. The internet gives me everything I need*

Herc at AICN has seen the first episode. He mentions some pretty interesting things happening in the premiere (SPOILERS)

Also, in the talkbacks, he says he has seen Episode 2 and it is awesome.

12 hours, 30 minutes till the premiere.

TheHollywood Reporter is reporting from Carlton Cuse that Lost will try to produce 5 more episodes on top of the 8 episodes that were completed before the strike for the 4th season of Lost. Therefore, we are looking at 13 episodes total for this season instead of the original idea of 16. Cuse went on to say that they will condense certain storylines down to trim the episodes for this season to that number. Personally, I wish they would just find an end point for this season, then have the remaining episodes that were meant for Season 4 be added to Season 5.

From CNN:

Quote:
Damon Lindelof is eager for some answers. An executive producer of ABC's mystery serial "Lost," he should learn this week what his show's future holds as it closes out its fourth season.

"Lost" has been back on the air just two weeks. But the strike meant a planned 16-episode shooting schedule was halted after just eight episodes were shot. Fans braced themselves for no more this season.

"But we very much want to come back and do as many episodes as possible," said Lindelof, who then listed a few issues that first need to be settled.

"How many episodes can best serve our story? And what are the production realities?" He noted that the shooting facility in Hawaii, 2,500 miles from his Los Angeles office, had been shuttered since Thanksgiving. The crew has dispersed, the huge cast has scattered.

The first new post-strike episode of "Lost" could possibly be ready for broadcast the week after episode eight appears, he said. There likely would be three or four more after that.

Could there be even more?

"I'd be surprised if the network wanted to air episodes deep into the summer," he said. But if all the pieces fell into place, "Lost" fans would be blessed: "I don't see why we couldn't deliver all eight remaining episodes."

Well, IMO, two shitty pieces of news in this story. From TV Squad

Quote:
When Lost's post-strike episodes come out later this spring, they will air after Grey's Anatomy on Thursday nights. TV Guide's Michael Ausiello is reporting that ABC's new Thursday schedule will feature Grey's in its previous time slot of 9pm ET (in which Lost currently airs), with Lost in the 10pm time slot. These changes will take effect in late April, once both shows have completed new, post-strike episodes.

This announcement does impact Lost's current run, however. Instead of airing all eight pre-strike episodes in a row, the plan is for the show to take a month-long break after Episode Seven. Apparently the producers felt that this was a better way to separate each block of episodes. The first installment of the season will end in mid-March, and the show will return with new episodes in late April.

As crappy as that sounds, I'm still loving this season. The whole flashforwards are great. This really is one of, if not the, best written shows on tv. Seeing who Sayid works for at the end of the episode was a shock. I wonder who will be the next to be revealed as one of the six? So far we have Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid. I'm thinking Sawyer or Juliet, Juliet mostly because the title is something like "egg town".

I think they are, because I do feel that the writers truly have no idea how they're going to end it. I believe this is evident when they have introduce new outsiders, and just focus on their stories.

They are throwing out a lot of new info, but I think it will all tie together. This season kicks all kinds of ass!

Jack's father Christian in Jacob's chair flipped me out. Who looked out the window at Hurley?
Jack was going to kill Locke. If there was a bullet in the gun, Locke was done.
Who is this 'it' that Hurley refers too?

"I think it wants us to come back, Jack!"

Only 6 got off the island and I hear Sawyer is not one of them. Ana Lucia's partner being the cop who interviewed Hurley was a nice touch as was the beard joke so they we would know the Hurley episode was before the Jack episode even though Jack's was last season. They either did something really bad or they are covering for those who wanted to stay on the island. But why would Claire, Sun, Jin or Desmond want to stay?

What about that Abaddon guy? Creepy.

"Are they still alive?"

He tells Naomi there are no Oceanic 815 survivors and then he comes and asks Hurley if there are. And why do they want Ben? If they knew DHARMA was done and the people were dead, why were they still making food drops? Remember the baloon? And now we see the plane at the bottom of the ocean near Bali?

I haven't even talked about the new cast members one (Jeff Fahey is looking old, but he is still cool) and the fabulous Sayid episode.

Kate is this week. I think we see her go on trial for killing her father.

It's been too good. Too much to talk about. I could probably post all night just off of three episodes.

I gotta say I saw the Aaron thing coming a mile away. I wonder how that plays into what the fortune teller told Claire about not letting anyone else raise the child. Pretty cool twist though. I gotta say I am in total agreement with what Hade is saying. This season has been incredible. Now does anyone remember what if anything the producers have said about flashbacks? Are they done, or will there be more. I've heard that we will see Libby in a future episode, so that makes me think they will bring back the flashbacks. Either way, I'm stoked with the direction the show is going.

Yeah, I've wonderd the same. Flashbacks have to return at some point. It is flash-forwards that will most likely stop.

Desmond is this week and Juliet is next week. I can't see any flash-forwards in those two, but

Before anyone clicks this, there is a semi-big spoiler for episode seven here. Since this week is only episode five, some may want to hold off. If you consider yourself someone who keeps up with spoilers though, I can say this spoiler won't be a surprise.

[spoil]the last episode before the break is Sun and Jin. I've heard that Sun and Jin are the two remaining of the Oceanic six, so I figure those two will have a flash-forward. I'm wondering if they stay in the U.S. or go back to South Korea.

It seems that Aaron wasn't counted as one of the six.[/spoil]

For some reason, I've fallen a week behind with this show. Finally got around to the Desmond episode. It was excellent. I think Des will remain stable now because of his constant. Dan will use Dex to stabilize himself.

The best part was Widmore buying the journal that belonged to the first mate of the Black Rock. Clearly, I think we can say he knows about the boat, the island. He didn't want anybody else purchasing the journal. He must own Oceanic Airlines and faked the second crash. So we have to figure that he is the guy who the frieghter crew is working for.

"Do you know who I am? - Miles
"Yes." - Ben
"Do you know who I work for?" - Miles
"Yes." - Ben
"Do you know how long he has been looking for you?" - Miles
"Yes." - Ben

Great stuff!

It is a show that requires patience, no doubts there.

But it is great, BV. Rent the first season and give it a chance. If you're not hooked in say five to six episodes, well, walk away. But I think you'll be hooked.

It has been great this season. I was shocked by tonight's episode. I knew a certain something was going to happen. Then I was completely shocked by something else that did. :o

It's addicting...and damn good.

Episode 9 is either a Sayid ep or a Ben Linus Ep according to (SPOILERS AT THIS LINK) SPOILERFIX

I think there were six altogether. Yeah, I didn't like that they didn't all get killed. I wouldn't have minded if Keamy lived, but the others should've been killed. I don't see the point of Ben calling it if it fails to do the job.

Having said that, it has been a great season. People are dropping left and right. They killed Carl, Danielle, Alex and three survivors from the plane in just two episodes.

The conversation between Ben and Charles freaked me out. Ben admitted that he couldn't kill Charles even though he wanted to, and Charles made it sound as if Ben wasn't human. I'm starting to think neither one is.

Oh, and Kate has a great ass. Even Matthew Fox (Jack) went out of his way to get a grip on that thing during the Jack-centric episode two weeks ago. :)

Yeah, she knows it too, CC. She never misses a chance to shake that thing. You can bounce quarters off that puppy. :)

That was a great episode as was Locke's, but it raised so many more questions.

Why did Jack's/Claire's father come for her? Is she dead? She seemed so sedate in the cabin. And why is their father speaking for Jacob? Move the island? I'm figuring the island is manmade, artificial. It must have some means of propulsion. But how could a manmade island cure Rose's cancer, end John's paralysis, and make Jin virile again?

The only thing we learned is that future Jack seems to know that Claire is his step-sister based on what he said to Kate about Aaron.

That she does and I think she needs a episode to run around in a bikini. Heck, they did it for Jin, why not Freckles? It'd be a reason to buy a HD TV. :) As for the quarters thing, I doubt you, I need to find out for myself. ;)

I'm figuring the island is manmade, artificial. It must have some means of propulsion. But how could a manmade island cure Rose's cancer, end John's paralysis, and make Jin virile again?

I highly doubt it's a mobile island, one would think it would have been noticed by now.

What if "move the island" is not a transportation but a teleportation?

The Dharma Initiative/Others seem to already be able to move instantaneously from place to place. Why couldn't the entire island do the same? Maybe that is why it is so hard for Jack to "get back" after he leaves the island. Because the island is not even in the same vicinity it was before.

I don't think they "move" the island physically. My theory is that Locke will change the coordinates that are required to leave and enter the island while in the Orchid station.

Isn't that almost every episode?

Very true. But there was a good stretch there where they were answering quite a few. Even the Ben episode gave us the reason why Sayid is working for Linus. What I was thrown by was the Ben and Charles conversation. It seemed to open up a whole new can of worms.

Not if there's never been a reason to move it before.

You mean change the coordinates of the gap in the shield? I like that theory, TTT.

There has to be some sort of invisibility shielding around the island like a cloaking device. The small gap allowed boats and the sub to get in and out. The island was safe until Penny Widmore's guys picked up the magnetic pulse when Locke and Des decided to stop pushing the button. It was that which gave them a spot/coordinates to search for the island.

I figure Charles was keeping an eye on his daughter and got a head start to the island. But what about Ben? He seems to be able to teleport/transport off the island whenever he wants. Tom did it as well when he came to see Michael. And this was how Ben brought Locke's father to the island. It was the so-called "magic box." I still wonder about that.
