Secret Spoilers of Cloverfield:

The Japanese oil company TAGRUATO drops a satellite (Chimpanz III) into the ocean as part of viral marketing (shown at the end of the movie when Rob and Beth were on the ferris wheel). TAGRUATO works with SLUSHO (a slush company), as the main ingredient for SLUSHO is found at the satellite dropzone (deep ocean). While searching for satellite and ingredients, they woke Cloverfield (the monster).

The main ingredient of Slusho apparently turns a tiny fish into a HUGE whale, which explains the size of Cloverfield.

I think it would be cooler if they did a sequel in a documentary style, like 28 Days Later. Duplicating the same idea would really be lame, thinks I.

nope. and i specifically was looking for that while I watched it and didn't see anything. it must be quite fast and tiny. I think it was described as a satalite that crashed anyways and not the monster. the monster is from the bottom of the ocean and gets "woken up" by this thing crashing on it.

Very weird lookin' thing...

The gunfire or whatever on the right side of the picture makes me think of a lightsaber. Are there Jedi in this film?

There has been lots of criticism of the characters not being likeable. The fact that the characters aren't likeable is why I feel this film works. Abrahams made the movie to be somewhat realistic and what would happen and how real people would react to an event such as the Kraken leveling New York. In real life, people get on your nerves.

Some favored particular characters over others. Marlene's character, while having a forced sarcastic personality, did it for me and when she went down I felt it. As for the cameraman - well fuck him and he got what he deserved in the form of getting eaten by Cloverfield. The cameraman spent the whole movie spouting "ROB ROB ROB (ROB)".

The good news is the black girl got out alive and hopefully she will be the focus of the sequel. The best part of the movie: THE HEAD OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY OUT OF MOTHERFUCKIN NOWHERE. Yes I posted a bunch of unmarked spoilers but it's been a few weeks and you should know them by now.
