Well this was posted on BMG's website:

Image

If you'll note one thing here:

JOHN WILLIAMS THE MUSIC OF STAR WARS - 30TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTOR'S EDITION

Who knows what this CD will be..if it will be a re-recording, a box set with all 6 complete scores, a single CD with just various selected cues, etc....? I'm not sure I'm not really holding my breath about it but hey if it's the complete scores for all 6 films I'll be happy to buy it.

The Corellian Edition was the Target exclusive release that was released when ROTS came out. It was a compilation CD with actual selected cues from all 6 films. It was bundled with the ROTS OST. So it looks like that's being re-released with this Anniversary Set.

Thanks for the heads up Raveers. As you can see I "upgraded" the OP with a screenshot (thanks to this handy firefox screenshot extension).

Notice the date of 01.10.2007 or the First of October 2007 so we will find out soon enough what it's all about.

I really, really hope this is the 6 complete scores we've been waiting for but the pessimist in me feels this will probably just be a selected cue compilation.
Thanks for the heads up, Raveers.

I think they already would've hyped it if it's something so major. It'll be something lame.

But I hope not.

According to Amazon, it's an 8 disc set that's coming out in November for $90. :monocle:

I'd go for a set like the Anthology, which I still listen to on a regular basis. There's plenty of great unreleased music from the PT. We need the last 20 minutes of AOTC in its entirety, Anakin's confession, the Dooku Duel from ROTS and hell, the complete score for that film.

I'll be ponying up for this set in November (if that's the actual release date) and will find out what the hell it is for sure and to let people know whether or not if it will be worth buying. So I'll let you all know in a couple of months on what this is. I'm curious about this myself and I hope it isn't the Original Trilogy and Phantom Menace Ultimate Edition 2-CD sets boxed up...that would piss me off.

According to musictap.com:

Sony Classical will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars by releasing several versions of a Star Wars Anniversary collection that includes a single-disc John Williams ‘best of’ grouping of 13 tracks from all 6 Star Wars films and will be called Star Wars: The Corellian Edition.

The other version is a Box set containing 8CDs of Star Wars scores including 2CD Expanded Editions of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Return of the Jedi. Each episode CD will be contained in a gate-fold mini-jackets that are exact replicas of the original LP sleeves.

The 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition 8CD Box will also contain a fold-out poster created specifically for this set, historical notes of the creation of the soundtracks, and 4”x4” four-colour stickers.

Whatever your desire is, the Star Wars collection is coming to a galaxy near you (sorry I said that.) The Box arrives on October 8 whilst the single disc Corellian Edition arrives on October 2.

It still doesn't say what the other 2-CD's are... though I'm betting it's the UE of The Phantom Menace repacked in a jeweled case this time.

WTF is wrong with Lucasfilm why the hell can't they just release the complete intended editions for all 3 Prequels all ready?

So it's a repack of the two-disc sets that are readily available.

I hope it comes in some sort of nifty packaging!! That would be a sure-fire sell for me.

I've got electronic editions of all the OT stuff 'cause I was hoping for a box-set of all the scores. This sounds like my bag, baby!

Good find, this is exciting. Hope it's worth it...

This is a disappointment, especially if it's just the same discs. I've found that the SE's sound muffled. Empire and especially Jedi suffer from this. The Anthology is much crisper sounding. If they fixed the sound quality, I'd download them.

I agree with you ET that the SE sets do sound pretty crappy compared to the Anthology sets.

Speaking of which I have done my own definitive edition of all three Original Trilogy scores using mostly Anthology cues where ever I could. I didn't bother adding any of the themes to my sets because I don't want em' on there... just wanted the music from the movies. For "The Asteroid Field" I took it from the Musical Journey DVD that came with the ROTS soundtrack...there's a tiny piece of dialogue you'll hear from Leia and Han at the beginning but it's not really distracting at all but I wanted the track because it's got a proper mix unlike it's Anthology and SE counter parts.

I'll get those upped here on the MF today.

I'd bet that the 2 extra discs are going to be the Correllian Edition and the Musical Journey DVD.

As Wheatus would say, "Suck Fony!"

Sound off to Sony Classical, here: http://www.sonymusic.com/about/feedback.cgi

www.starwars.com

Coming Soon: The Music of Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Collection.

August 29, 2007

This November, Sony BMG will make available a 30th Anniversary commemorative collection of the classic Star Wars soundtracks in a collectors' edition foil-printed boxed set. Inside are eight CDs, filled with John Williams' unforgettable Star Wars score. Each film of the original trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI) has their score spread on two discs, accounting for six discs in total.

The remaining two discs include a special Star Wars: The Corellian Edition compilation of the most popular themes from all six episodes on one disc, as well as a CD-ROM of digital art of the original LP packaging, posters and insert. The set also comes with an all-new exclusive poster and collectable stickers. Keep checking starwars.com for more information on this set as November approaches.

What in the fuck kind of SHIT release is this??? This was Sony's perfect opportunity to release the 2-CD's of AOTC and ROTS with this set (along with TPM). Why the hell didn't they do this? Do we have to wait until 2009 for a Prequel style box set??

Well it looks like I'm keeping my 80 fucking dollars. Fuck this shit! I all ready have the 97' RCA/Victor sets, the Sony 04 sets don't need fucking more duplicate sets!!

Why they keep using images of ROTS Vader for OT material, I don't know. By the way, this set sucks.

Lucasfilm doesn't "release" anything. It's Sony.

Yeah, Lucas allows it, but what's he supposed to do? Volunteer?

Because to their eyes, Vader is Vader... doesn't matter if it's from the OT or Prequels...

Although not unexpected, I'm also pretty disappointed. One wonders if the prequels will ever receive proper expanded treatment.

Little gatefold sleeves - nice.
Box - nice, maybe not the image I would have chosen, but musn't grumble and all that.
Content - Already own it!

Can I not just buy the packaging for £5 and slip my own CDs in there... I'd be happy to do that...?
