and ew.com Mangold had long been a fan of the 1957 film 3:10 to Yuma — the tale (adapted from an Elmore Leonard short story) of a small-time rancher (Christian Bale) who has to deliver a murderous outlaw (Russell Crowe) to the train that will take him to jail.

At some point Tom F-in Cruz was slated to star in this, thank the maker that didn't happen. But this is supposed to be a return to the Western genre.

Wow, I hate Russell Crowe. And I hate westerns. But that actually looks pretty good. I might have to rethink my affinity for hatred in this instance. This looks worth watching. Thanks for the heads up hypertext!

This trailer certainly looks good. It's one to keep an eye on.

What an awesome watch!

It is a very character-driven story, carried by the great acting of Crowe and Bale, and the end is just brilliant. One of the best movies I've seen in a while. Masterly done, yes.
