A bunch of the art from the game, some of it in higher rez.
Though I guess the game's not for PC?

"The Force Unleashed."

Anybody guess what the hell that means? As opposed to when the Force was on a leash? Or maybe it's a suggestion of things that will be finally released (unleashed, set free, never-before-seen, etc.) on the alleged 30th Anniversary DVD set?

:monocle:

The Force Unleashed alludes to the new PS3 / x360 game that's coming out this year. It's getting all kinds of support and marketing. I think you get to be a dark jedi that helps vader hunt other jedi.

Yeah, you play Vader's secret apprentice in the game. The female Imperial officer is the love interest. You also get to kill poor Shaak Ti for the 3rd time. (although I have no doubt Lucas will throw her into the TV show to die a few more times there too.)

You get to have a nice big fight with Darth Vader also.

Since you can't kill Vader (game takes place between episodes 3 and 4) you at least get to make him look like his action figure:

Looks like they need to rename their feature as the game is now no longer shipping this year.

A new wrinkle:

LFL's "HUGE" Star Wars event for 2007 (the Force Unleashed video game) just got delayed until Spring of 2008. All of a sudden, there's nothing big in the pipeline to celebrate the 30th Anniversary. Will they be forced to release the box set this fall after all?

Any ideas why the delay? Or could this mean that we will actually get the dvd box?

It's possible that they'll be forced to release the Saga box set this year to have something released for the 30th Anniversary. I wonder why though they delayed the game until next year.

They pushed it back internally to make sure the game was going to be good. Unfortunately for the team, they are probably going to be working long hours through christmas instead.

I hope one of the reasons it's being delayed is so it can be developed for the Wii.

I still believe there is a DVD set coming out because a while back some sort of toy ad was posted that mentioned it, and I'm going completely by that. :monocle:

Jim Ward always prides himself on doing the most profitable choices about the release dates and later being able to keep up to them. He wouldn't delay Force Unleashed unless there wasn't going to be a 30th Anniversary box set to sell it together with, or the game was so far behind in the works, that it's completely unplayable.

I'm sure there's some sort of problem with developing the game that they have to work out before they release it.

I'd rather see a delay than have a game rushed out for the holidays like KOTOR2. However, I no longer really care about this game because its not coming for PC.

Don't worry, it will at some point (I least I hope). Maybe this delay is so that they can get it ready for all platform??

So, who's not seen the new force unleashed trailer?

Talk about a bump up in power taking an Imperial Star Destroyer and crashing it out of mid-air, impressive. I love the new graphic engine on this game to.

Yeah, trailer looked good. Pity it's only for the 360 and PS3 and I won't have one of them until the game is well dated. Port it to the Wii, fuckers.

has it, and I think a few of the gaming sites have it as well. I agree I'd have to buy a system to play it which I'm not above doing but I'd prefer to have it on my computer.

Well it looks like I'll be ponying up for an X-BOX 360 next year so I can buy the game. I'd rather buy a 360 than a PS3.

I don't need no damn Blu-Ray and I'd rather have an HD player which I can get for the X-BOX. Plus the X-BOX's are a bit cheaper than the PS3's. To hell with Sony.

Yeah, a less jerky video would be great. I think I developed a minor form of epilepsy watching the game trailer at the lucasarts site. Anyone else get that or is it just my lousy "overloadedwithcomics" computer to blame? The porn works just fine, so I don't think it's just me.

It's becoming more and more of a dissapointment because it actually looks fun, and Lucasarts is abondoning the PC fanbase that got them to where they are today. :(

Just watched the trailer for the first time who on earth is doing that ridiculous Vader voice? Sounds more like the Blue Oyster Club, Vader, than the evil Sith Lord that we have come to love. :schoolyou:

According to IMDB this is the person doing Vader's voice.

He was also the voice of Mace Windu in Clone Wars Vol 2.

He's a dancer that says it all. I would happily pay £5 more for JEJ to do the honours.

I'm not sure if 10 $ more would help get JEJ on to the cast list.

Possibly, under the assumption that you won't loose audience by pricing the game up to $70 a unit. If it follows current trends, the game will debut @ $59.99-$69.99 is out of a lot of people's price range, especially since you're also demanding that they have a PS3 or x360.

I concede Cryostar, you're right about the costs, especially with the new generation of consoles vying for attention. I would happily pay £5 into James' pension fund if he could do me a limited edition copy, think it a touch unlikely though.

That's the best version of that clip I've seen so far, thanks! I tried to watch a couple of the others (esp the official one) but they were still kinda sketchy and the audio wouldn't synch up, so this smooth clean version is much appreciated.

I might just have to save up for a Wii:

[hr]
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Sept. 18, 2007 – LucasArts today revealed that Star Wars™: The Force Unleashed™ will come to the Wii™ home videogame system from Nintendo next spring, offering owners the unique chance to live out their Jedi fantasies by wielding the Wii Remote™ as a lightsaber while using the Nunchuk™ controller to torment foes with their Force™ powers.

The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The game’s expansive story is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi – and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

The Wii version, in development by Krome Studios, will also add an exclusive duel mode in which players can compete head-to-head with their friends to determine the ultimate Jedi Master.

“The Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console’s motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life,” said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts. “We’ve worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force.”

I'm very shocked and excited by the Wii announcement. Didn't they originally say that the Wii couldn't run the game and that they had no plans of porting it to the system?

It's nice that so many developers are finally coming around to the Wii.

The Force Unleashed is getting the 360 treatment this spring. Not only will the next game hit the shelves for the 360 and PS3, but there will be a Graphic Novel, Figures and a Regular Novel to go with it.

Diamond Comics has been kind enough to provide a 1 page "preview" with some of the art from the upcoming Graphic Novel.

Nice! Well now I'll have a reason to buy a PS3 so I can buy this. I'd rather buy a PS3 so I can have the Blu-Ray technology and it would save me on having to buy a seperate Blu-Ray DVD player. Thanks for posting that video CloneCommander.

Also- This game keeps on getting better:

Darth Vader Playable in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

By now, you’ve probably heard about the amazing-looking Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It’s cool enough that you get to play as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, but it looks like you’ll actually get to play as ol’ tall, dark, and scary himself also. Apparently, the opening level of the game will have you hunting Jedi on the Wookie planet of Kashyyyk. You’ll be able to use all of Vader’s powers to fight off all the Chewie cosplayers that come charging at you to devastating effect. This new information combined with the incredible technology we’ve seen so far make it a little hard not to get excited about this game.

I'll probably go with the PS/3 on this too, especially now that they're putting the Cell processor through the IBM 45nm tech the cooling problems should be over with, and cost might come down as well.

Just a note, the release dates have finally been set. It's September 16 in the US, September 17 in Australia, and September 19 in Europe. No idea why the hell Europe has to get it a few days later than everyone else, fuckers. I'm also assuming that all platforms will be released on the same day.
