Just came back from it...I'll post my thoughts while they're fresh.

The Good:
- Bruce Willis the heart and soul of this film and delivers the same McClane we know and love.
- Some of the action is clever, explosive and entertaining all at once, particularly the car chase scene.
- Justin Long did not bother me as much as I thought he would. He actually has a few good one-liners.
- Though I'm out of her league, there was something sexy about Lucy McClane that I'd love to stick my dick into. Maybe I like tough broads after all...

The Bad:
- This movie made me hate our society's obsession with technology more than I already do. Call me old-fashioned, and yes I realize the irony of this statement as I type on a computer that I upgrade regularly, but sometimes I just want my stories not to be overcomplicated by techno-babble or my plots to be half-assed because technology can somehow solve any quandry and get our heroes out of impossible situations.
- The villain sucks. This mostly has to do with my first point. Ooooo....Mr. computer nerd is fed up with life after he got shafted by the government....give me a fucking break.
- All secondary characters are cookie-cutter and boring. In fact, the script itself is pretty bad. Everything in between the set pieces is boring (when things aren't exploding you're watching nerds type on computer screens - I swear to God there's not non-action scene that doesn't have someone working on a computer problem/hacking). It's boring as hell and there's no immediate sense of danger.

So I guess you can boil the film down to a) good action b) lame story.

Here's my rankings:

Die Hard
Die Hard with a Vengeance (I still think this movie is underrated. It's funny, has a good villain and the action has great pacing - at least until the end)
Die Hard 2: Die Harder
Live Free or Die Hard

Go see it though, it's better than most of the shit we've seen this summer.

This one snuck up on me, I just saw the trailer last week. I love Die Hard and Die Hard with a Vengeance. I'll definitely be seeing this one shortly.

It had good action. The story was a little far-fetched, but of course, my friends and I are all computer science geeks, so to the uneducated masses the storyline will appear plausible.

Overall, I was entertained and enjoyed it very much. Bruce Willis's chemistry with Justin Long was very well done and the comedy was fantastic. Kevin Smith didn't add so much, but was "needed" later on in the film for plot reasons.

I love Die Hard and Vengeance, but I can't see myself paying to see this one. This franchise has gotten away from its roots. Put McClane back in a building or bring Jackson back to run around with. Until then, this series is dead for me.

This one resembled more the generic hacker/computer flicks we get these days rather than the gritty reality of the original, but still it was enjoyable. It's Die Hard hopped up on CGI steroids (which isn't criticism, since I'm a CG artist myself) and dragged into the modern age.

The film could've done better with less from the Macintosh guy. Kevin Smith's bit part was good and brought in a lot of Star Wars references.... And Maggie Q is just hot.

Bruce Willis' one liners were spot on, though it's a shame he said 'motherfucker' barely once.
