I really liked the first one. Allthough I'm a sucker for disaster and zombie movies, 28 Days Later was a lot different from the rest in that it felt like more of a tragedy than a horror film (esp. the alt endings on the dvd). I was impressed by the drama, while still being visually entertained. Just my opinion.

Found this link to a review of the first 28 minutes by way of AICN. Minor spoilers, allthough you can pretty much guess what happens.

Sequel looks good so far. Comes out May 11th.

See with the original actor from 28 days later, not being in the sequal, I worry about it just being a disipointing flop of a film.

Thanks for the link. Liked the first one, for a lot of the same reasons as you Troy. The can definitely build upon the plot that was in the first movie, and I actually kinda like that we don't have the same characters, at least from what we've seen so far.

This one starts Friday, heres an early review from AICN.

Quote:
I can’t sing the praises of this film enough. It really and truly is the visceral, unhinged horror film that we all have deeply wished it could be.

Good thing too, because after the last movie I saw, I was thinking of never going to the movies again.

So has anyone seen this yet?

I went today and have to say although my expectations we're not high, this movie did not deliver.

[spoil]I liked the plot about the mom being a carrier, but not how it was executed. And the whole "code red" bs, just seemed to me an easy way out where there could have been a decent story. It was just your usual run from zombies from point A to point B flick. It really seemed that although this is Fox Atomic, Hollywood screwed this independent film up big time. [/spoil]

I liked the movie despite its flaws...some scenes were very powerful. That being said it was kind of like watchings Sith. It needed to be fleshed out a bit more. Here is to the Peter Jackson style of filmaking.

I hope the DVD expands on some of the scenes.

I finally saw this one today. It was good. Mildly disturbing in some ways, though. The bit where the mom and dad are finally reunited seemed a little over the top, I thought. Definately keeps a good pace, though. The story itself seems to flow a lot better than the first one, as the third act doesn't seem as contrived. I didn't like the characters as much though. And the fact that it didn't turn out well for anybody kind of left me feeling glum walking out at the end. Still worth a look if your into this sort of thing.

I think the genre itself is starting to irritate me. Are they ever going to make a zombie movie where the main characters don't do everything wrong? I know there has to be some suspense, but fuck, even the army got their asses kicked in this one.

Personally, if I ever make my zombie movie, it's all bout driving my armored combine around looking for smoke. And looting Home Depots while building a cul de sac on the deck of a cargo ship. And a rotating umbrella of pole saws.
