Let's just take a bit and remember that day 5 years ago. I still can't even believe it's been 5 years all ready, time sure has flown by. Anyways what do you remember from that day? I mean what you were doing when everything transpired. Here is what I and my friend Chris remember. The post from my friend Chris by the way was taken from a bulletin he posted in on myspace...

My parents and I were still living in Vegas and at the time my friends Sam and Chris were staying with us for a while. Anyhow, I was sleeping in my room when my friend Chris came barging in my room and told me to quickly get dressed and come in and watch the TV because something was happening in New York. Chris left my room after I said okay and I was kind of irritated since I didn't get that much sleep the night before so I grumbled, got out of bed and got dressed and went into the family room.

What I saw on TV was pretty much unreal, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. At first I thought this was one of those CG documentaries that these stations liked to show back then. Then when we all (my mom, Chris, Sam and I) saw the second plane hit live I knew then it was a real terrorist attack. The four of us were glued to the TV the whole time, then we watched as both towers collapsed. My friends and I were pretty pissed off the rest of the day yet sad at the same time. Pissed off to the fact wondering how terroist could to do this to us.

It was pretty eerie though not hearing the usual air traffic from all the airlines taking off, or seeing them come in for a landing that night and for the next few days when all air traffic was suspended around the U.S. I will never forget that day and I'm sure everyone else won't either.

Edit: By the way the quote below is from my friend Chris who posted this in a bulletin on myspace...
Quote:
I was sleeping in Trent's spare bedroom when Sam came in and told me to get up cuz some fuckers were attacking our country! I got out of bed and went to the family room to check out the unfloding events on the TV. I then bounded into Trent's room and told him to get the hell outta bed and get to the TV. It was an especially difficult morning for me, as I had signed up for the US Navy delayed entry program a few weeks earlier. I must say though, that it was with a new resolve that I joined and continue to serve for going on 5 years, because of that morning. It was a morning I will never forget.

Yeah, I've been thinking about this all morning.

At the time, my wife, my Mom and I all worked in downtown Nashville and we all rode in to work together. At 7:46 am Central we were in the car on I-65 riding to work. At that time we were about 5 miles outside of Nashville. I was listening to the Bob and Tom Show on the radio when they got very serious and started talking about a plane hitting the World Trade Center. This was the first plane. At that time, they were saying they thought it was a Cessna. By the time I got to work the second plane had hit and people were starting to talk about terrorist attack.

My occupation at the time was a delivery person for a downtown lawfirm. So most of the day, I didn't see TV coverage. All I had was what people were telling me. Sometimes there would be rumors (other planes crashing into Chicago, Los Angeles, etc.) and more information (Pentagon, Flight 93).

The main things I remember that day was the panic of people even in Nashville, thinking that this was going to be happening in every city. Also, I remember pictures of people celebrating in the Middle East and other countries and just not believing how anyone could celebrate at such a disaster. I guess the thing I remember most is that afternoon going home and every gas station was packed with cars because of the panic of gas prices.

The sights and feelings of that day will stick with me for the rest of my life. The 9/11 tragedy is for my generation what the JFK assassination was for my parents generation. Someday I will tell my children about what I felt and saw that day. I hope that the story will be the only major disaster caused by terrorist that I will have to tell.

I'm not interested in recalling the details of the event from my perspective that morning, but I'll tell you, from that day onward, that I would seek out an intense, seething vengeance upon the vile, heathen race of terrorist killers - even if this odyssey took me away from my family and country, bringing me to the lowest, most depraved depths of human existence.
