Those exchanges were great, although in the book there were too many of them. They basically alluded to the quips Vader made in the OT. I wish one of them would have been in there.

EDIT: After reading ET's post below, I remembered a line that got taken out from the movie... when Grevious says "I was trained by Count Dooko (or something like that).. Obiwan said, "General Grevious, I trained the Jedi who killed him."

That was a great line... too bad it was lost...

Alluding back to the little scenes, the bit before the Obi-Wan/Grievous duel where Grievous is briefing the separatists and Nute Gunray gets pissed is pretty awesome. The force theme that plays as Obi-Wan is riding the boga is great. Also, Tion Medon's scene with Obi-Wan.

When palps is just hooded and says... "once more the sith will rule the galaxy...."

He sort of looks like (and sounds like for that matter) he has just eaten a dookie as he is saying it. Ian really gets all gravely voiced when he says once more... I laugh at it sometimes..

And I agree when he smiles in this scene he looks exactly like ROTJ emperor.

Also the... close up of IAN... " I can feeeeeell your anger" aaaggghhh that gave me bonners when I saw it the first time...

I liked when Yoda pinched his own nipple right before he dropped into Bail's speeder. Little green perv.

Yoda throwing his saber thru the chest of the trooper is possibly one of the coolest things I have ever been witness to.

Anakin/Padme/Obi-Wan on the Mustafar landing platform has such an intensity you can't help but gaze in wonderment at its awesomeness. It is well written and well acted by all involved. I especially love the intesity of the 'You turned her against me' line.

Obi-Wan and Anakin on the edge of the lava pit is another supreme job of acting. You can feel the pain of Obi-Wan leaving his 'brother' to die and the hatred Anakin has toward his former best friend.

A poster earlier mention Anakin twirling his saber while surfing the droid on the lava river. That is a great shot and is truly bad ass, but it reminds me of the duel in the Theed hanger. If you watch when Darth Maul Force throws a piece of debris into a control panel to open a door, Obi-Wan walks into the shot twirling his lightsaber. Things that are passed down from Master to Apprentice?

The opera and Palpatine's revelation to Anakin are two more of my favorites.

I can't tell for sure, but I think it's at this point that he sees Obi-Wan up in the ship. It's like from then on he's not looking at Padme, but up and away from her, even several shots before WE see Obi-Wan.

Palpatine: I know you would. I can feel your anger. It gives you focus, makes you stronger.

God, I love that line. Straight outta Return of the Jedi. Ian owns.

My theatre collectively let out a 'whoa' during that scene and clapped at the end.

The Rebel Fanfare music after R2 defeats the buzz droid.

Although the fact that the buzz droid gets swept away through wind resistance even though they are in space................

I know. There are certain things which draw your attention(Well, ok. MY attention) away from the moment, and destroy my suspension of disbelief.

I liked the scene where Yoda's cloak falls onto that pole after he loses against Sidious. I think used part of the same theme that was played when Luke fell into the shaft in ESB for that scene, but faster and shorter.

In addition to what's already been said, it really hits me every time when, just after Padme dies, Obi-Wan looks down at the crying baby (Luke?) in his arms with a look of concern. It's a brief moment, but quite powerful if you think about what is going on in Obi'Wans head at that moment. He feels pity for his former apprentice and best friend's children who had become complete orphans (since Dark Side counts as being dead). They'd never know their mother and would be in danger from their father if he knew about their existence. It's ironic that the babies represent Anakin's violation of the Jedi Code and the catalyst for his fall but also the Jedi's last hope of defeating the Sith. It's now the responsibility of the last remaining Jedi to keep the kids safe and help them fulfill their destiny. Knowing how Obi-Wan thinks he's failed Anakin he must be really worried whether he's up to the challenge.

Yes right after Padme dies is an extremely emotional moment. From Obi-Wan looking down at Padme and the crying baby to a sad Yoda and then Vader rising up on the table. I must say, as much as you know everything that's going to happen going in (spoilerwise), a lot of these scenes still got me.

For whatever reason, Organa's given the most powerful part of "Anakin's Betrayal" during the Order 66 montage when he arrives at the temple, and that was another one of those moments.

One of my favorite moments was right before Padme leaves her ship to confront Anakin on Mustafar. She puts her hand on her forehead and has this look that just shows the gravity of the situation and you just know that something monumental is about to happen.

Also, Obi to Anakin during the opening space fight: "Anakin, you're going to get us both killed!" Great comedy/foreshadowing.

Also, the music when we wipe to Tattooine for the delivery of Luke to the Larses, and the way that Ewan strokes his moustache just like Alec Guiness. Fucking awesome.

Love how they tied in the pendant from Ep1. Now I wish that they had shown it in AOTC. I would've used it as a device to show Anakin that Padme had been thinking of him during the 10 years that they were apart.

Yoda and Obi fought together into the Jedi Temple. Why didn't they then move against the Emperor together and then head to Mustafar and team up on Vader afterwards?

I think it is good as it is, showing in ROTS and not in AOTC. When we see it again in Ep3, it is like "Cool, she did actually keep it for 13 years." If we see it in Ep2, to me at least, really doesn't mean anything.

I disagree somewhat. While I accept & am fine with the fact that the japor snipit wasn't in Ep2, It would've been nice if it was somehow shown just once. Maybe in the deleted scenes from Padme's home, she could've glanced at it in her jewelry box or something. Just to show that it was still there and that she did still remember, even if at the time of Ep 2 the snipit was nothing more than a symbol an old friend to her.

Also, after this we see Yoda with a sad look on his face. He's mourning someone who has died. Exactly what he told Anakin not to do. I guess he realizes that it's not so easy.

very good point about anakins violation and his downfall becoming the jedi's and the galaxy's last hope. The scene where obi looks down at luke is gutwrenching, for all he knows he just killed the kids father and watched his mother die.

another cool scene was ordering c3po's memory wiped but not R2's. Really makes R2 an important little bugger in the OT, he knows everything and keeps that shit completely sercet.

I have forgot also, I like when mace tells anakin that if what he has told him is true e will have earned his trust, it's the only time someone flat out tells anakin they don't trust him. He is their "chosen one" and I think they all tip toe around subjects with him, but says slaps him in the face with that.

I think an underappreciated moment (that I've not seen anyone mention anyway) is the look Mace gives Yoda when he says "A prophecy that misread could have been". Mace glances at Yoda from the corners of his eyes and just nods with a look as if to say "no kidding, I don't know WHAT the hell to believe anymore".

I got several favorite "small" scenes:

1. When Obi-Wan and Anakin part and Anakin apologizes for his lack of patience. Especially when he says "...I've been arrogant" and Obi-Wan raises his eyebrow, as if to say "Yeah, my friend, that's right and I know."
I fucking fucking fucking love that scene.

2. The intense moments on Mustafar when they first meet again after the parting-scene.
Especially the dialogue is... just awesome: "You turned her against me!" "You have done that Yourself!"... very simple, very effective and highly emotional.

3. The cuts between Vader's very painful operation and Padmé giving birth to the twins: It's just awesomely handled - the darkness in the Sith-Hospital with all these sharp things attached to non-humanly looking droids contrasting the light surroundings and more 'rounded' and humanly looking droids helping Padmé.

4. A very emotional moment (to me) is when you see Vader on Mustafar, turning his head, tears running down his cheeks.

I agree with that. Though it would have been more effective had they been actual humans...

One of my favorites is when Anakin & R2 are trying to land the Invisible Hand and they accidentally tear off the back of the ship and R2 beeps a very funny "uh, oh." Also when Anakin is fighting with the controls, you can see even Palpatine in the back is honestly scared they are gonna crash, Anakin yells "Easy R2..." to give him R2 instruction or calm him down. You'd have to be the best starpilot to correct or calm down the best astro droid.
I like this scene because I always wanted to know what event causes OB1 to reflect in ANH about Anakin being "the best starpilot in the galaxy."
I also really liked the Skywalker theme as the ship is entering the atmosphere.

I like how one of the Coruscant buildings looks like a NASA rocket launch and another one like the planned Freedom Tower in NY (even if the whole Freedom Tower idea sucks)

The crane shot of Anakin and Obi-wan on the pipes. The camera loops around the two as the music heats up and the shot ends with an explosion and a geyser blast of lava. That's the stuff epics are made out of.

Hell yeah, I love the detail of the little observer droid showing up for a moment to watch the duel.

That whole sequence is very Spielberg.

I enjoyed the battle droid humor more than most, especially when Anakin and Obi-Wan take on the Magnaguards. When the fight starts, you can hear a droid telling the guard to "Get him! Hit him!", while one droid screams for another to run after Obi-Wan cuts one of the guards in half.

Mace/Palps is my favorite fight in the movie. It looks like a real duel instead of isometrics. I can feel the heat and danger of those blades in that scene, it isn't about who can jump and flip and do more choreographed-looking saber spanks.

I really liked the Mace/Palpatine fight. There were a lot of sweet moves. Palpatine slashes at Mace and he jumps back. Then, Mace deflects Palpatine's saber from behind, pushes it down and spins around slashing at his head. The shot where Mace breaks the window is my favorite in the film. But we don't see most of what's happening because it's shot with too many closeups. When you come to the end of the fight you can't really concentrate on anything except their faces because the fighting itself isn't shown.

The change in the sound mix at the beginning of the Duel. When Anakin jumps, the Mustafar background becomes almost inaudible for about ten or fifteen seconds, and the music is ramped up, so that all you hear is the music an the clashing of lightsabers. Its a very noticable change, and I thought it was nice to actually have the music front and center, both technically and dramatically speaking.

We missed you.

My favorite small scene:

Yoda dropping his cane and grabbing his chest while the Jedi are getting killed off.

And the fact that Anakin takes the time to undo his seatbelts before HE leaves his ship...

I get goosebumps everytime at the part, just before the dual, where Anakin first sees Obiwan standing at the top of the exit ramp of the Naboo Cruiser and yells "LIAR" at Padme. Definately one of my favs of the whole saga even.

I like seeing the Millennium Falcon in that one scene. And the George Lucas cameo.

this is one of my favorite scenes as well.. and the look on Anakins face as if to say " Don't talk to me you damn filthy jedi wannabe".. Total kick ass scene.. Also the beginning of the purge sequence up to where Yoda drops his cane is amazing as far as how the score and the scene works together,,, very powerful

What's interesting is that Anakin's lightsaber makes the sound of Darth Vader's lightsaber in this scene instead of the regular sound.
