Just ripped the vob with the menus and checked it out - aaaaawesome. You've worked hard on this and it absolutely shows.

Also - love the easter egg, Zion. ;)

Y'know, it's a shame -- even with the brighter picture, the clearer and properly oriented audio, the fully restored credits and the excellent menus, I still think Grievous is totally fucking gay.

There's at least one torrent up that I'm aware of. It'll probably spread to other sites through the weekend.

If I wanted to tell you exactly where the torrents are, don't you think I'd have done so already?

Get off of your dead fucking cyberasses and search for them. Sending me PM's is a waste of your time.

Some people prefer torrents, others don't have newsgroup access.

Who can't afford NINE DOLLARS AND NINTEY EIGHT CENTS at Easynews to get FULL Binary access 20 GIGS of download?? torrents are slow and rely on other people. Usenet is FASSSST, quick and easy. I think it's the fear of the unknown. I didn't know how to "use" the usenet until January of this year. I read up on it and now I use it everyday.

My newsgroup server's retention is less than two days. On the plus side I get speeds of nearly a 900kbps

Yes, you are ignorant. Most ISP news servers have less than two days retention on the Binary groups. Go read up on yours, I doubt it's more than a week retention. You also get a web interface (if you wish to use it) at Easynews where you get over 45 days retention on binary groups. NNTP access (traditional news. access) gets you about 30 days and more.

You also get a free usenet search engine. Before you ask a dumb questions like "What does a pay service have on a normal ISP server?" do some research so you don't look like a complete ass.

Lighten the fuck up. All the retention in the world doesn't mean much if you can only download 20 gigs a month. That might sound like a lot at first, but in fact it amounts to downloading something the size of this Zion disk less than 5 times in a month. If you get yourself hooked on a group like a.b.dvdr, those 20 GB are going to go by pretty fast.

If you check Usenet once a day -- say, on your way out the door to work/school/neighborhood circle jerk/whatever -- a standard ISP's news server will do fine. Assuming it provides access to all the groups you want, anyway.

Btw, does anyone know of a good search engine for usenet that will actually search more than a week or so back? Even the in-program ones (like in Grabit) or sites like Newsbin don't go back as far as the retention I'm paying for.

Newzbin goes back nearly 90 days.

If you use EasyNews' NNTP service rather than their web service you get 30GB per month. And, if you take their survery every week (takes all of two seconds to do) you get an extra 2GB. All for only $ 9.98/mo (USD).

20 gigs wouldn't last you a week? don't get out much huh? LOL. I get about 26 with bonus gigs and using NNTP. For those us who don't have ISP's that offer 30 day retention on the binary groups, easynews is perfect. BTW, what ISP do you have that offers 30 days on binaries?

Is it your practice to sit in front of your computer and watch it as it downloads stuff?

If I started a download of 4.4 GB (standard DVD-R size) before going to bed, it would be finished long before I woke up. If I did that every night, I'd be through even your 26 GB before a week had gone by. If I started another download in the morning on my way out the door, I'd be d/ling upwards of 8 GB a day. I'd NEED 30-day retention to catch up on everything I missed while I was waiting to get my monthly allowance back.

If you're happy with Easynews, good for you, but quit acting like you discovered the Unified Field Theory.

Thank you. My ISP's shitty and since I missed it the first time I missed out altogether, and no matter how much I exercised me "cyberass" I have yet to find the torrent so I'll have my eyes glued to the monitor this weekend and make sure I get it all when I can. Thanks again.

Sounds like a codec issue, try burning it and watching it on a DVD player.

Try watching the film in VLC player and see if it works.

If you were able to extract it in Winrar without any errors then you shouldn't need pars. I posted a simple guide for Pars in the other thread.

Re-downloaded fixed part001.

Now another problem:
<< Attached file: sw3.zion.part009.rar (49,558,400 bytes) >>
Warning: Actual file size (49558400) does not match declared file size (50000000). The file may be corrupt.

Finally up to date with all the parts so far today.

Except 40 give me an error too:
<< Attached file: sw3.zion.part040.rar (50,000,019 bytes) >>
Warning: Actual file size (50000019) does not match declared file size (50000000). The file may be corrupt.

FYI error:

<< Attached file: sw3.zion-1.part059.rar (49,999,989 bytes) >>
Warning: Actual file size (49999989) does not match declared file size (50000000). The file may be corrupt.

And parts 041, 042, and 043 are all incomplete, even though you are now uploading part 060. Do those show complete on your end?

I resized Zion's rip to match the dimensions of the original internal file in screencaps, then put together this image to show a direct comparison from a couple moments in the opening space battle. I think it really shows off the color differences and increased clarity.

Internal on the left, Zion on the right:

Cool. Though the first three frames are kind of irrelevant, since I used the opening logos from the AOTC DVD and generated my own crawl. The actual footage from the rip doesn't kick in until the pan down from the crawl. You shouldn't be able to tell, but during the pan there is a transition fade between the star field plate I used (still image for crawl background) and the video.

I'd like to thank whoever made the DVD covers included with the rip. I also think it's pretty easy to change the front (which I'm not a huge fan of), here's what I came up with:

It's pretty nifty, whichever cover is picked.

Thank you very much Zion for all your hard work!

What method/program did you use to switch the AUDIO channels? I was trying to do the same but couldn't find a solution yet.

tks in advance.

I used Adobe Audition to swap the channels and tone down the distortion. It's really an awesome program if you've never used it. It used to be called Cool Edit Pro.

Didn't Cool Edit used to be shareware? I'm sure I had that on the 386...?
