I used the cheap CompUSA ones that I brought at 100/$15 and sometimes they don't play, sometimes they jump all over the place.

After checking out the sample it is obvious this release is either a new encode of the same source that TUN released (overcropped & dark) or simply TUN's release re-encoded as an xvid with the inclusion of a new sound source (most likely).

torrent is just the method of downloading, has nothing to do with what format the file is (avi, mov, mpeg ect.)

Yes, i understand that -- communication error on my part...in an attempt to be clearer, I was trying to ask if the only way to get this file was via a bittorrent. That is to say, if I want the workprint, do I have to use a bittorrent to get it, or is there a ready-made file that someone could rapidshare, etc. Hope that is clearer...

I was trying to convert the tun version to a dvd, and ended up with a PAL dvd that won't play in my over priced player. I'm on a mac, and tried converting to to NTSC but then the audio was WAY of synch. Is this due to dropping of frames from PAL to NTSC? And does anyone know of a fix?

i'm having the same problem. i work with a guy that's very well known for video editing, and even he's having trouble getting the TUN version to combine and play well on one dvd. first of all, it's a funky aspect ratio, then there's the issue with the frame rate. we've downloaded and played with so many different conversion programs and nothing has worked yet. the mpegs that get extracted from the svcd's are too corrupt at parts. you're generally not supposed to go from a vcd back to something better, it works more from the other way around. hopefully these guys will release an uncompressed version in the next couple of weeks

I read a news article today saying that the FBI has cracked down the original site that was serving up the workprint and is going after ten other ones across the U.S. that is serving them up. Here's the article from Reuter's. Head's up.

i now realise that they hadn't actually done anything to the video in that new TUN release....its just audio and sync problems that have been fixed....

i only assumed the video was fixed beause it seemed alot clearer than the sample of the previous TUN release....

I think the Workprint version does have some minor audio differences in it from the Theatrical release. I saw the movie at a Digital theatre last night, and noticed a few missing things I had heard while scanning through the workprint. Maybe I'm just not hearing/remembering things right, so someone double check me...

On the Workprint, in the Elevator when R2 sends it down with Anakin on top (he jumps to the ledge) and Obi Wan is still in it, you hear Obi Wan shout "R2!" and it kind of echos as the elvator falls. I don't recall that in the theatre.

Also, one of the scenes in workprint had the Destroyer Driods saying something, I think it was when they were in the ray shield trap. I'll have to double check that one, but I don't recall the Destroyers saying anything in the release version.

I'll go back and re-listen when I have time, there may be other audio tweaks.

I just watched the workprint (Original DVD-ISO File). Besides the Aspect Ratio Issues that can easily be fixed there are audio issues, starting exactly with Title-Track 2 of the 5 avaiable Titles on the DVD-ISO.

It seems like the first Title (33min) is fully Dolby Surround encoded, but the 2nd title is not Dolby Surround encoded at all. I even fear, that the sound is upmixed from a mono-source. Or the Release-Group has screwed up the audio-signal somehow (only Title 2-5).

You can test (hear) it by yourself, if you listen to the repeated segment of the "Yoda & Anakin" Scene, where they talk about Anakins dream. The repeated lines are "Yourself you speak of or someone you know? Someone. Close to you? ..." Be sure to set your setup to Dolby Surround and just play. The first time (end of Title 1) you can cleary hear the background music in the surround channel. The second time (beginning of Title 2), the surround channel stays almost silent.

You can also spot a clear difference in the Front Left Channel, when in Dolby Surround Mode.

This is no way of complaining, I just wanted to inform everyone, that until november the best way is watching Title 2-5 in stereo-mode, while watching Title 1 in Dolby Surround Mode.

Can anybody check the Telecine-Release, if it has the same audio issues?
And is this AC3.5.1 Release fake or is it real?

the only version that has stereo is the workprint and that as u say is only for the 1st reel then reverts to mono, all oher versions are in mono the 5.1 divx is also mono though it does light us a dolby ex!(but is still plain vanilla mono) usually when there is a russian TC doing the rounds there is a dvd-r with true 5.1 but this has not surfaced yet!
so..... there is no full version in stereo just the opening reel of the wokprint so far but it sounds fucking amazing in dolby pro logic IIx!!!

There are two other instances I noticed. First on the Invisible Hand when Palpatine refers to the death of Annie's Mom on the theatrical version I remember hearing the Sand People's battle cry. Not on the work print. Also right after Obi Wan is told Padme is dying of a broken heart he goes over to the window and you hear a weird sounding machine. (The sound is also from the last bit of the trailer when Darth and the Emperor are standing together.) Did not hear that either on the work print.

The Sand People scream is in the workprint, but it's more subdued then in the theatrical version.

About the "weird sounding machine", I'm not sure, how it was in the theatre, but in the workprint I hear without a problem a medical equipment sound when Obi comes to the window in the moment you described, but it's not the sound from the trailer, that one comes few seconds later, when we see Vader on the operation table and it's repeated constantly, like a large fan or something.

After posting this, I saw the movie again on Saturday (took my Mom & Daughter) and the sounds I had noticed in the workprint were in the film, although the yell Obi Wan makes as the elevator descends seemed to echo less. But that could be more due to the way the theatre's sound system was setup vs. the Workprint's audio mix or something than any real difference in the two edits.

It's because the main sounds for the workprint is louder, and background sounds are not as present. For example the sand people yell in the beginning. Some say its not in the workprint, but it is. Just very low, as in the theaters it is played as a sound from the back. I think this only plays mono.

I downloaded the movie and also downloaded that file that supposedly corrects the aspect ratio problem. But when I applied the fil to the movie, it made the picture all messed up. The entire picture now makes the funky motions like waves back and forth.

I have tried several way to take the thing off, but I can seem to figure out how to uninstall or whatever you call it, that file. Can some someone please help me out? Thanks in advance.

For those who've seen the MoF telecine: How is it with regards to compression artifacts? That's the one thing that kills the original workprint for me. The screenshots look nice, but how is it in motion?

i don't think i've gotten the MoF Xvid telecine version, but i have downloaded about 3 diff telecine versions that are all missing about 20 min of the movie. i got a 3 vcd version that ran only 1 hour 57 min after spending all the time to convert it. i read someone's comment about it being sped up or something, but there's really just full scenes missing from it. does the MoF Xvid telecine version have the full movie?

Anyone know if the Imhoteps TC version is missing anything?

Yeah it's from a PAL source (European Video Format) so the speed plays at 30 frames per second instead of 24.

I was just wondering if anyone else is having a problem with there media player. It worked at first but now everytime I try to play sith it gives me an micrsoft error send report. Any suggestings. Thanks a bunch
