There weren't really any deleted scenes I need to see put back into the movie, but there are a few I'm very interested and anxious to see included on the DVD. I'm mainly thinking about the senators scenes with Padme, Bail and Mon Mothma.

after reading all this...i realized there was alot of things cut. Some things I hope when the dvd comes out they make it out like LOTR. Have an extended version of ROTS and let us see everthing that was cut from the movie. I rather have it that way then have to go to the title menu and see the deleted scence myself. I like to see how it looks during the movie.

People complain about the second act, which they feel drags on and on (I happen to really enjoy it, but that's because I dig the relationships and politics in the movies). Imagine 20 extra minutes of shit that the average goer could give a fuck about...it was a very good decision to cut the rebellion subplot out of the film. It's interesting for the big fans, but not for the casual ones.

During the scene with Sidious declaring the Republic an Empire was cool, but I thought it would've been much better if it were just how it was in the script with Bail Organa standing up about to yell something out to the Emperor, and then Padme telling him there will be another time for that.

"The Senate CHEERS again. BAIL and PADME are devastated. PADME begins to cry.

PALPATINE: (continuing) An empire ruled by the majority . . . Ruled by a new constitution . . .

The Senate APPLAUDS.

PADME: So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause . . .

BAIL ORGANA: We cannot let this happen.

He starts to stand up. PADME stops him.

PADME: Not now! There will be a time. "

I think it would be out of place without the other Bail/Senator scenes.

Much like how the Yoda-Qui-Gon revalation seems tacked on.

I don't think those scenes told actualy anything new about the rebellion, that we don't learn from later episodes (petitions, delegations - who cares?). The only interesting thing about them were Mon Mothma's great looks and the fact she was once a senator. But that's not enough to miss the the scenes after they had been painlessly cut from the movie. The delated scenes section on the DVD is the perfect place for them.

I agree the rebellion scenes are better left out of the movie. I like the political stuff and it would have given Padme a bit more of a role but they would have definetely dragged the pace of the movie down. Those scenes are all basically political roundtable discussions which is why I was surprised so many were disappointed they were cut considering one of the most common critisisms heard about the prequels is too many talky political scenes.

If GL was going to put back any of the rebellion subplot I think the best scene to choose would be the meeting in Bail's office. It has all the relevant info in it. It mentions Palpatine's installing of regional governors, the Senator's distrust of Palpatine and feeling he's already become a Dictator, and that Bail and Mon Mothma are starting a secret organization. The TV show will probably deal with some of that stuff anyway.

Having Qui-Gon is a necessity... I hope to hear a confirmed explanation of what actually happened with it. If Neeson really refused and used "conflicting schedules" as an idiotic nonexcuse - while even Big Mister Busy and Important could have literally recorded it over a phone - then a voice impersonator should have been used...

The scenes with Dooku's disbelief about his fate and his begging Palpatine to intervene should have made it, too.

I would probably vote for the Rebellion origins to be reinserted... if GL is actually planning to reinsert anything - hopefully he is. - but obviously I'd have to see the scenes first. The film went by too quickly, especially in the second half, and more plot details would have helped there... I've liked the political parts in the prequels - if I wanted constant stupid action, I'd probably watch some Brett Ratt/Jackie Chan "film". (No, I wouldn't, even if paid much to do so)

Ah, isn't it a damn shame that the workprint isn't really a workprint in the traditional sense, with the pre-cinema scenes intact?


The worst thing that could happen would be having the scene - even as only a deleted one in the extras - with those wretched "jokes" allegedly vomitted out by Anakin during the slaughter of separatists... fortunately this apparently was just a sick rumor. Abandoning that script scene with monkey Yoda was a great decision, too - I hope that one was never filmed.

That was dropped at Christopher Lee's request according to the Making of book. He felt it was out character for Dooku to beg for help.



Those were only in the book, they were never in the script or movie to begin with.

I really hope a lot of cut scenes are added back in because this movie as it is just feels so incomplete.

Please stop saying Liam Neeson didn't do any work for Episode III. I really hate that rumor. We all know one scene that was filmed got cut from the movie that was originally in the comic book. And that scene was the dialogue between Yoda and Qui-Gon on Polis Massa. His scene was completed, people. I'm sure for pacing and editing it wasn't added to the movie. And I'm almost positive for continuity sake it will be the only scene added to the DVD.

But the sheep in me wants them to film the Quinlan Vos/Order 66 scene and put it into the montage along with Shaak Ti.

It's not apparent. Someone has stated he's dissed George Lucas. And another rumor states that he was seen on the set during filming. Which do you believe? It's obvious from the comic guys who did the comic version of ROTS that Qui-Gon's scenes were filmed.

Not sure about that one... being that most of the comic images are exact traces of the scenes from the film.

And the Qui-Gon/Yoda scene was definitely filmed... just not necessarily with Liam Neeson's voiceover. You can see an obvious frame jump (aka crappy edit) when Bail enters the room. But if Liam never called in his lines, the footage is useless.

A rumour I've heard is that the scene was in fact recorded but Neeson later requested it not be used...

just a rumour though.

Extensions, Longer Padme/Obi-Wan 2, near the end of the movie. Longer Anakin/Padme discussing the sex of the baby,

Deleted Scenes, Obi-Wan getting Boga (Obi-Wan got the Beast too easy with a Droid infested Area) C-3PO getting Padme onboard the Ship (bummed this was gone, finally showed Threepio doing something),

To be honest. The soundtrack is already a mess. I don't want them needlessly adding scenes to throw it off even more. At least that final 30 minutes of the score are locked down pretty good. I say don't fuck that up just to add a few more saber strokes.

I'd like to see a few of the mid-duel lines put in. Both in the Dooku duel and the Obi-Wan/Vader duel.

Dooku is too cool to beg for his life... but he should have done something rather than just kneel there.

The Opening Space battle doesn't need to be longer... to be honest, I think it would become tedious. Even moreso than it already is.

I was dissapointed in the escape on Grievous's ship... What happened to that shot of the three of them (Obi-Wan, Anakin, Palpatine) on a pipe shown in a webdoc? Plus the whole underwater sequence...

I'd like to see Anakin taking down Shaak Ti (whateva the name is) in the Temlpe... but it isn't neccessary.

I said in another thread, I'd have liked the whole implied affair between Padme and Kenobi in the film. But I still think it would have taken too much time to develop it fully. The middle would have dragged then...

This is also the reason I'm glad the Rebellion scene were cut... though it will definitely be great to see them as Bonus Material on the DVD.

Is there any more to the Security Recordings scene? I always felt that was weak and kinda... rushed.

Shaak Ti may have been spared because Lucas is going to use her in the TV series.

A picture was released last year some time with anakin Choking Bene and Saber Locking Cin (if i remember Correctly) and it seems like a different anlge then what we saw in movie, IMO i think alot of that was cut

Lord Vader killing Jedi.

We have this great set up of Vader marching on the temple, stormtroopers in tow...then what? A fucking fake helicopter shot of troops blasting Jedi all over and and the youngling bit. And then who can forget young Jett.

Aside...the younglings is perfect, and creepy as hell.

Listen, I don't care if it's Shaak Ti or Jo Schmo...I want Vader fucking up Jedi Knights and Padawans....cutting them down like butter and seperatists. Lucas...you owe me.

Well, that was a stupid decision Rick since you now have a serious plot point unexplained (how Vader merges with the Force in Jedi, which would have been explained with that scene), not to mention how including it would have added a dramatic twist to the film (Anakin is lured to the dark side to obtain a power that the dark side can never grant him). Now, will this scene be re-incorporated into the film, Rick?

Just cut the Qui-Gon lines altogether then, if your not going to put Liam Nesson/Qui Gon back in. Have it be Yoda who instructs Obi-Wan on the Jedi Trick. There is enough dialogue there that if edited, it will work to have it be Yoda's idea, not the unseen Qui-Gon's.

Like everyone says, Yoda's lines come out of nowhere...

What really gets me though, is not just the plot hole that you guys mention...but all the build up of Qui-Gon in all the other Star Wars Source Material.

You had Qui-Gon mentioned in AOTC, you had Him mentioned in a few Pre-ROTS novels, and you even had a Qui-Gon cameo in the Clone Wars Cartoon Series...all that build up to nothing.

It would have been one of the most magical moments of the saga, nevermind the film. It's the puzzle piece that makes everything in the OT work, and for some reason it was unneccessary? Give me a fucking break.

Eh...I think you have to read between the lines. If they ever really discussed it seriously, why not go straight to Neeson instead of asking Ben Burtt? Still sounds to me like Neeson turned them down.

Bail's comment would seem to come out of left field to the average viewer. I liked the exchange (in the book I think) where Bail decides to have C3PO's memory wiped because 3PO said something about telling the twins that their mother was a senator and their father was a Jedi. It would have taken all of three second to toss that line in the film.

As far as the rebellion goes, it would have been nice if Mon Mothma and some of the other future rebellion leaders had been sitting in the pod with Bail and Padme during the "thunderous applause" scene. They could have stood up and left in unison and this would have been sufficient to please the hardcore fans that the rebellion had been born without dragging down the pace of the film. I guess its too late to go back now and film a quickee scene like that.

Does anyone know if there was a scene shot where Anakin was applauded by the entire Senate? I'm pretty sure the elements "the hero without fear", and "the poster boy of the Clone Wars" were to show up in such a scene. In the final cut of the movie it felt to me that this was missing. If it exists that would definately be on the DVD.

But it's the Revenge of the Sith, and the movie should end on a somewhat down note...it's good to have no mention of a rebellion...I mean to have the Rebellion in the movie is sort of a cop out I think. It's like saying, "Yeah I'll leave the galaxy in darkness, but oh wait, just so as to not get too dark, here's a little rebellion, so don't worry kids, everything is alright." That Hope should only come from the twins...which plays out just well.

From the Illistrated Screenplay (during the Anakin vs. Obi Wan duel):

Anakin: Don't make me destroy you, Master. You're no match for the darkside.

Obi Wan: I've heard that before, Anakin... but I never thought I'd hear it from you.

I would have liked to have seen those lines make it into the finished movie... it's not much, but it helps equal the amount of talking between them that took place in the ANH duel.

I wonder if those lines were even recorded. I don't know where they would fit. Judging by the tone of the lines, it sounds like it would be during the "lava surf", but I don't see where it would be added now. But yeah, those were good lines, I don't know why it wasn't in the movie.

In the script those lines are spoken during the control center portion of the duel before they do the saber twirl and force push bit.
