here's a couple of screencaps from the vob, I watched it last night and was it just rocked. I did have to watch the vob's as two different files so there was a pause between them, but other than that, it was killer.

Well, I spent the last few hours working on it, and finally got it right. Turns out I had the same issue as HopeOfTheFuture.

Also, I've noticed that some of the movie has the video and audio out of sync by maybe a frame. Anyone else had this after conversion?




Answer: Nothing. You've converted the original vts_01_1.vob, and (for me) it split it into the widescreen vts_01_1, vts_01_2, and vts_01_3.

Next step is to do it to the original vts_01_2.vob and run the conversion again, but into a different folder. This is because it'll name the output vts_01_1 and vts_01_2, and you dont want these to conflict with the first set of converted vob files made. When its done, rename these converted vob files into vts_01_4 and vts_01_5, so they follow on from the first 3 made.

Copy these into the folder with the first 3 converted vob files, so now you have vts_01_1.vob through to vts_01_5.vob.Next use ifoedit (as mentioned earlier). Tell it to create IFOs, select vts_01_1.vob as the first file. Tell it to place the files in the same folder. You'll then end up with the full set of converted .vob files and the accompanying .ifo and.bup files.

Burn the video_ts folder containing all of these files. Hopefully it will work. It has for me, although I dont have a standalone DVD player so I cant tell for sure how that would be.

@NCT: What's total filesize the raw vob version you have? Is it just the ViSA one or is this a superior source they could not handle? (they fucked up really badly btw, DVD = 720x480 or 720x576)

Let's see, I think it was a gig and a half,, it was in the wrong aspect ratio still, I think it was the initial file released but I could be wrong. I tried converting it to the right aspect ratio in an avi and it kept sucking ass.

Then on I think page four of this thread someone wrote out directions for watching the vob in Zoomplayer and that is what I did. Zoomplayer has a thing for custom aspect ratios, so I just did that to watch it.

When I split the original iso into vob's, one is around 1 gig and the other is about half a gig. In zoomplayer you can play them sequentially so I just watched them in that and for me, on my relatively small 32", it looked and sounded amazing. On a bigger screen, Ithink it would hold up very very nicely, but I just don't know for sure.

Hey, is there anyway to put the original ISO or the unpacked .VOBs on CD (as a VCD) with a CD-RW drive? I don't have a DVD burner but I'd like to be able to play it in a standalone DVD player. I know the quality would suck but I'd like to try it for shits and giggles. I know I could convert the .VOBS to avi and then to MPEG-1 but was wondering if there was a more direct way. Especially if I can correct the aspect ratio at the same time.

hey all im getting the telecine version done by TUN right now, but my azureus says that there isn't any seeders, so i might be having a problem getting the complete file, anyone know of a torrent to this that connects to a tracker with some seeders on it? the tracker for the one im using is pirate bay, thx.

Has anyone seen the TC show up on newsgroups/usenet yet? I'll post if I find it, but I haven't seen it mentioned yet.

update - thanks for heads up below guys. by the way, once you figure them out, newsgroups become a great way to share stuff - i've been using them happily for over six years. as p2p incarnations have come and gone, the newsgroups have remained steady, reliable sources for pretty much everything I'm looking for.

u know, i did that newsgroup thing, and i got it to work, and thats how i downloaded the workprint version of the movie, but i had a big problem with it, the download went pretty fast, but when i searched the newsgroup i typed in "revenge of the sith" and it literally took about 5 to 6 hours for it to finally give me the results!! what gives?

im on a fast cable connection, i wasn't downloading anything at the time, and when i finally downloaded it went fast, so why did it take so long to show the results, whatshisface who did the tutorial said it should only take about 5 - 10 mins for the results to pop up, what did i do wrong?

The Telecine version is on alt.binaries.svcd and alt.binaries.movies.zeromovies (if your ISP carries that newsgroup) Woefully incomplete for me.

When you set the Filter, make sure you also specify only files posted in the last 1 or 2 days, since in this case you know it's a recent post. That should help.

That screenshot was just an example of the cropping/colors of the TC in comparison to the Workprint.

The TC by TUN has been nuked for sync "audio and video do not match up" problems on the last disc. Do not waste your time or bandwidth. Wait for the repack. The new source is also from Russia so the opening is amusing.

Also if you really want to enjoy the newsgroup experience forget using your isp's connection since they usually only retain the posts for 2-3 days. Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra and subscribe to a newsgroup service. I have found giganews to be the best.

there are many torrents for the smudged version, namely done by MOBSTERS, but I would highly reccommend NOT downloading them, the reason is because A: they are worse quality, and B: the smudging is actually MORE distracting than the timecode, trust me I have watched both and it is very annoyying when in an important scene anakin's forehead get's pulled up the screen, don't waste your time with it.

i d/led the tun version that was recently posted and in the folder it says cd 1 through cd 3 a sample and something else anyway's everything thing in the cd files are winrar and i've read through this thread but i'm kinda computer illiterate so i was wondering if someone could explain alittle better what i need to do from here on to be able to watch the d/l

my wife, i and our three oldest children saw ROTS last Wednesday night. I have fallen into a trap with many other parents around the US in having to decide if the content is too strong for smaller children. We have three smaller children who are 4, 6 and 7 who like Star Wars and would like to see the new film. They are a bit upset that they haven't been able to see it because of the content.

I would like to download the movie to show them bits of it before we take them to see it...and screen the ending.

Can anyone give me a way to download a copy of this to use. I'm not wanting to replace the "Theatre" experience but to gauge their reaction to various parts of the film before we spend $100 to take all 8 of us to the movies.

We will be buying it on DVD this fall, I'm sure, to complete our collection.

I found the content vastly overrated. I thought I was in for some scary footage, but it turned out to be nothing much of a big deal. My cousin (6) went the other day and didn't find it the least scary or upsetting, just very sad.

There's nothing gratuitous in the movie. There's no blood or gore, no closeups of decapitations or other lightsaber wounds. I think that what kids might find most disturbing is that the good guys lose. If your kids like Mace Windu, for example, they're in for a shock (no pun intended).

And Anakin catching fire near the end isn't pleasant either. As I said, nothing gratuitous, it's just that Lucas doesn't pull any punches.

.bin/cue files are for burning VCDs. Just burn them to CD and your DVD player (will likely) play them.

I just use ZoomPlayer to play the raw vob of the workprint and you can manually adjuest the ratio.

i didnt mod my mpeg2enc as i just downloaded it, and im not sure about the permissions or how to set them

the telecine release from TUN sux. It's way too dark and has too much of a red hue to it. Wait for a better release.

You know... if the TUN would be the best picture source, but is too red shifted, or has aspect ratio problems, I can correct all that and put out a really clean version. I can also marry whatever the best audio source is, etc.

In fact, I can do pretty much anything, just depends on what our source is.

for me the biggest drag with the TC version is that I think it must have been telecine'd in PAL because it is slightly sped up. Still, both versions beat a CAM or TS in my book.

Just got the TUN DVD coversion. Video is okay, but the aspect ratio is not quite right, audio has a few sync issues and seems speed up in parts.

This will do until the DVD rip comes out.

Have any New Yorker's perused the sidewalk sales lately? I'd be curious as to what release the pirates that just got busted have been running with.

So no hand held on-camera Kramer commentary... so there's another solution for the folks not patient enough for torrenting and mpeging.

Has anyone seen this one? I got the TUN DVD but it's really dark and has shotty audio. Is the blurred out timecode version better?

Hmmmmmm, I downloaded a version of WinRAR for OSX, and there appears to be no way to open these files. In fact, when I open the folder from the WinRAR download, there are a bunch of txt files and then a file caller rar and another caller unrar. When I double click those, something called Terminal opens.

No, just stuttery video (and that ain't a computer issue, it's in the DVD version, and every single AVI version based on it I've seen so far), and horrendous compression artifacting. Kinda 6-of-one-a-half-dozen-of-the-other with what's available at the moment. Seriously though, I am surprised that there are so far only two sources for the film (with infinite permutations being posted, but everything either comes down to being a reencode of the VCD-quality workprint, or the TC from TUN). How was this film not on every major releasing groups' agenda?

DO THIS: Right click on the first file and say to open with your unrar program, stuffit expander should probably work best for this, if stuffit says that there is an error with the files then you are probably missing one of the rar files OR one or more of your rar files are corrupt and you will need to REDOWNLOAD. but more than likely, if you downloaded everything correctly, you should be able to unrar this with stuffit expander. if u don't have a right click on your mac then just hold down CONTROL and single click on the file, then click open with, then stuffit expander, walah!

Like the PagMan says, most likely your download is corrupt or you are missing a file because mine worked like a charm. WinRar saw all the rars as one huge file and just uncommpressed the entire thing at once. Dragged the VOB files into NERO and it was done.

I just finished downloading "Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith Visa to RMVB XXX2.rmvb", which is pretty good version of the workprint. It cuts out the extra beginning at the end, but unfortunately, it won't burn to a VCD or DVD.
