First off you can use WINRAR to unpack .iso

Then use http://videolan.org/vlc/ to play the .vobs located in the video folder.


Alrighty I have one super-compressed version @ 150mb divx .avi. Yes the filesize is only 150mb but it is very blotchy/pixelated. Currently I'm working another version now, one that is small in size with no picture quality loss. This version should be in the 300mb to 500mb filesize range. The new version should be completed late Saturday night (US EST time).

Once the new version is finished, some YouSendIts will be in order.

Preferences, under 'video', click 'advanced', scroll down, enter '2.35:1' in the aspect ratio field.

whoever wrote out those directions on using it in zoomplayer with the FFDshow scaling, you fucking rule.

The raw vob looks stunning, but it is true that it held up less when run through a 42". I can't even imagine how bad it is on 50".

However, on a 27", it looks like a perfect DVD.

Overall, this is an amazing quality bootleg for so soon after release, if you play the raw vob instead of converting it.

It doesn't exist. There was a fix that made it 1:85 but of course that's wrong.

Is it just me, or is some music missing? I've skimmed through it, so I might have come in at times there wasn't much music, but it still seemed a bit dull. Also, there seems to be different sounds. Yoda kept making grunts while fighting at the Jedi temple. I'm just noticing tons of things I didn't notice at the movies. So it could be that I missed them, or that this isn't the final edit (which I don't think it is).

Just finished downloading and it turned out great. I only need help with one thing now. How do I put it on a DVD so I can watch it on my DVD player? The files I have now for the movie are VOB files. I tried this one DVD program I have but it only is for mov. and avi. files. So I need to find another program that can write and encode the dvd so I can play it. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

update: Just got home to find DrDivx gave me a fucking awesome 630mb divx avi

I forgot one other thing with the DVD copying. Do I need to burn the whole folder on the DVD or do I just burn the VOB files?

Burn both the Audio/Video folders or just burn the .iso file

And if you'd followed any of the advice so far in this thread, you would already know that, and where to find tutorials and tools to do so.

Alternatively, you could simply go find one of the bazillion conversions which have already been done in XVID, SVCD, VCD...however what you're proposing is going to look like crap in any event, and probably be more distracting than the lower quality and timecode.

Just wanted to thank everybody who contributed their time to help people like me. I was able to get the movie and put it on DVD to watch on a regular player and not on my pc.

What's with the whining about the timecodes? That's the beauty and uniqueness of a workprint! I couldn't even list all the timecoded films I have...

Anyway, this is definitely the best leaked workprint I've seen yet, even better than the high quality Halloween workprints... and compared to what is still considered the "standard workprint quality" among collectors (the jumping Spinal Tap workprint, the ugly Ricky 6, the unwatchable Pet Sematary, etc.), it's more than perfect.

Bizarrely, my freshly downloaded .iso refuses to be recognised by Windows or WinRAR - the file seems in order (it's correct size) and it mounts through Nero, but Windows refuses to acknowledge it's existence, saying it's either 'corrupted or in a format windows doesn't recognise'.

I gather it's just a botched download, so I'm getting it a second time, but thought I'd toss it out here to see if anyone had a similar problem and overcame it.

Ok, so I've done this and all looks good.

However I'm not sure where to go from here. The movie is split into 3 vob files in the video_TS folder. I tried burning the video_TS folder to DVD and when I try to play from it, it plays only the first vob file and not the other two (therefore it stops after the first hour).

Alternatively if I try to run my computer to the television to watch the files, only the first one can be seen on the TV, and the other two will not play (only audio comes through).

What options do I have? How can I get the DVD player (I'm using PowerDVD) to automatically move from the first .vob to the second to the third? Or how do I get the 2nd and 3rd vob to be seen on the TV (when the first works fine)?

Ok... of course I dont want to sound like a bastard for this... but unfortunately the divx version I got was about 4 seconds ahead on the sound before the video.. I converted to DVD but still no dice... a little better, but not matching up. I guess we're back to square one.. unless someone else has a solution.

Unfortunately, I cant do that. My TV doesnt really let me fiddle with aspect ratio that much.

From what I can gather, the issue is .ifo files. I used ifoedit to make fresh ones, and that helped a little. Now I can get two of the three .vob files to run consecutively on the burned DVD.

I guess next step is to try again and see what I can do with the ifo files.

Well when he messaged me he said he hadnt tested it yet and said he was worried that he might have over compressed it..... I do have a xdrive.com storage that could be used to upload the larger file you have...

Telecine is out.

Decent quality, a little darkish, seems tinted a little red but that's fixable on any nice TV. 3 discs, SVCD, PAL, proper aspect ratio. And a little grainy. Someone needs to get that DLP 80gb thing.

Eh, I'd say better. This will hold a lot of people over until Fall. Heavy macroblocking looks way worse than slight grain.

Regarding my version of the workprint it appears I have been mistaken on the quality - the audio is seriously out of synch with the video. It appears that I had "nth pass" selected instead of "two-pass". Right now I'm working on a 2-pass divx. Should be ready to go by early am tomorrow morning.

If you one of the resident video experts and want to take a stab at correcting the audio issues or have suggestions on how I can correct with say vdub feel free to contact me. I have a link ready to go.

Is the quality on the telecine one good enough that I should download it and try to use that copy to lay over the time code of the DVD rip?

The DVD rip is OUTSTANDING quality when you don't watch that VCD of it, but just watch the raw vob. It's likely as good as can be gotten.

But it might be kind of cool to use a keying program to put the telecine over the timecode. I haven't minded the timecode at all, but to do without it, even at an inevitable discoloration and quality difference over the code, would be cool.

It'd probably take color correction, feathering and a whole lot of fucking time but it's possible. What's the raw vob look like? Take a screen shot of a high action sequence (preferably an explosion), please. I'm interested.

Subpar for a Telecine I think.

The VCDQuality guys are rating this a 9 for video, I say it's more like an 8, colors aren't very vibrant.

I think they're being less critical because they've been waiting on TUN since opening day.

Pimp - when I try to take a screenshot of the vob, it comes out blank. do you know a good software for screencapping something like that?

Scan with the scrollbar to a good shot, click the Video tab and select "Copy source frame to clipboard". Paste it in something better than paint (Paintshop or Photoshop) and upload somewhere.
