Been lurking here a while now mostly to spoil myself before EIII came out. I saw it last night and liked it very much. The only thing that wasn't really answered for me, and forgive me if this has already been discussed to death is the plot hole from Empire Strikes Back.

Ben's ghost tells Yoda that, "that boy is our last hope", and Yoda replies "No, there is another". Why is it that the spirit of Ben doesn't remember twins being born from Episode III?

It's much more easily "explained," if it really needs to be (and it doesn't, imo), by seeing that Yoda is simply reminding Obi-Wan that there is another.

Funny article. But the terms Jedi and Sith both come from A Princess of Mars, by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Yuk yuk, you are funny. I asked a simple question, and was hoping someone would be KIND enough to enlighten me. But, apparently sheep post whores just want to crack jokes and be rude to increase their post count.

Good job, you are succeeding.

Are they warriors in the Burroughs book?

A Sith is a hornet-like Martian monster. Jedi comes from "Jed," which is Martian for King, or "Jeddak," Martian for Emperor.

Hey flaxative, why is it that people like you call themselves "lurkers" when it's obvious from your first post that you don't have the slightest clue how things work around here? What do you consider "a while" -- a couple of hours?

I've been reading the Episode III forum for about 2 months now. Just to get spoiler info, and trailer info.

I guess I really don't know how things work around here, but from the posts in the other forum, people asked questions, and got answers...usually. Now while I may not have read every single last forum here, I was honestly just trying to get a little info from folks whom I thought would be the ultimate resource on all things SW related. Even if I did get a little "flak" for maybe posting something that has been covered a million times (yes I did use the search button, and no, I didn't find the info I wanted to know). So I asked the question. The last response I got was pretty rude, and so I commented on it. Go ahead and shoot me for trying to use the MF forums.

Oh, and BTW, I actually missed the C key and hit D. Corky came out Dorky...funny how that works. No need to edit that or appologize IMO since afterall he did tell me to F-OFF.

I can definately see GL taking the terms from those Burroughs books, but "sith" is also used in one of Shakespeare's plays (Macbeth I think) and I seem to remember the word "jedi" having some possible eastern origin. The ERB connection is cool though, I hadn't really seen it until now.

Then how is it that you didn't see that your retarded fucking question has been asked millions of times already?

Oh, and watch yourself. This place can be a little rough...

Because I didn't...guess I was too enthrawled with looking at screenplay text and video clips.

Ya, rough crowd here, kinda like the cantena crowd I guess ;)

i'll try and search for my answer again, without having my head pulled off and people shitting down my neck for asking a question ...lol

I'm always the last to see these things. I was wondering why Bacta kept calling me that today! Dude, you're pretty cool. Stay and hang out. Come to reservation and I'll show you my e-penis.

LOL!

As for this retarded fucking question being asked a million times, it seems like everyones response on every fucking thread in every sub forum should have this fucking answer if that were the case, and you know what Bandersnatch? It isn't answered a million times, or a thousand times for that matter...regardless of the stupidity of the question...since I obviously don't see it posted in your response, or any of the responses here...

You guyz give me that warm and fuzzy feeling around here, kinda like just before I hurl...

oh well, guess I don't get my answer to my stupid fucking retard nub question afterall. Thanks for all the swell help folks!

Oh, and Corky, I really didn't mean to call you Dorky, that was honestly a slip. My response was just indicating I was a little upset with the way I was being treated for trying to find out some good star wars lore - even though you did give me the fuck off emote. I think its humorous how you were being called that today, on my nub typo. LOL!

Ten Things I hate about you
Bad Attitude
Nothing Personal

hmm........

Ring
Assassins
Get Carter
The Sixth Man
The Vanishing
Sleepless in Seattle
Fire Walk With Me
Fabulous Baker Boys
War Games

why are we talking about these movies? oh yes, my location...thats real ingenious, glad you were able to pick up on that...had me worried there...

For more movies filmed in and around the Seattle area you can always check out: www.ci.seattle.wa.us/filmoffice/film_history.htm ...not your typical LA/SF/NY, but a few interesting ones filmed up this way.

That makes sense...thanks for the answers. It was a bit harder for me to believe it was that simple, since she could hear Luke when he called for her in Empire, and said she somehow knew she was his sister, along with having kids who were very powerful in the force themselves in the books that take place after the end of ROTJ – yet she was considered not strong enough by Ben, but possibly by Yoda -- thats where my ????? began.

I guess it's not such a big plot hole after all.

I agree, there are many other inferences to things not explicitly explained in the films..many of which, I have helped out in trying to come to the most logical conclusion with while conversing with my friends. Hell, I even did a 30 page paper in college in 2nd year psychology class on the OT that helped explain many things in the Jungian ways, or even Freudian ways. Not that that makes me in anyway an expert or anything, because I’m just a newbie after all…

I guess the reason that compelled me to ask this question, was that the dialog was so blatantly called out in Empire, but not explained in ROTS…which, IMO, most of the other blatant items WERE explained in ROTS.

It is a moot point now. You folks have helped to draw out logical conclusions, and I have done some deeper thinking on it now, myself…

:o - Flax be stupid sometimes.

P.S. Yoda and maybe even Sidious didn't show much accomplisment as a fighter pilot either, but they were still great teachers/masters in the force, light and dark side. At least from the text/movies I saw and read. Oh jeez, why do I even take this stuff seriously !?!?!? Oh ya, Star Wars, thats why!

Obi-Wan is a sexist, he doesn't think Leia is up for the job.

Back on topic...Before seeing the Celebrate the Saga video, I thought along with everyone else that Leia was the other. But in the video, it cuts from Yoda saying, "there is another" right to a bunch of Anakin scenes. I think he could be talking about the little bit of Anakin Skywalker still left in Darth Vader. Just a theory.

True but Obi-Wan expresses more distrust in the other than Yoda. Obi-Wan is the one with the strongest opinion that Anakin cannot be turned.

The real answer to the question is that Lucas has made up all this stuff on the fly and has created plot holes as he's changed stuff around. He changed the stories around so much he couldn't keep it all straight. He should have hired some dweeb to read his scripts before making them into movies then said dweeb could have brought these questions up before the stuff went on film.

"Ah, excuse me, Mr. Lucas, I have a little question here. If Obi-wan saved the twins from getting chopped up by the Sith how come he doesn't remember about Leia?"

I know a good subject for a book "Plot holes in the Star Wars movies". Is there anywhere where I can find a comprehensive list of these?
