I wanna see luKe join the emperorz II in the 7,8,9 trilogiez!!!!!!11one11!

And I don't know what the big deal is over the video. I really didn't catch anything that tips anything off. The marketing guy of all people isn't going to say "Yeah, the movies are ending". Its marketing people's nature to be secretive and to "Never say never" as IESB sheep Robert Sanchez yelled into his microphone after the interview. :what:

These will deal with minor characters between EP 3 and 4 and I assume there will be no Darth Vader, so what could it be? A family that crashes on a planet a la The Ewok Adventure and befriends some minor character? Who cares?

I'm not saying that that is what it is going to be but with no major characters (Vader, the Emperor, the droids, Kenobi, PT or OT principal characters, etc.) no stories of major continuity that are relevant to the story of the PT and OT seem possible.

More than likely it will deal with Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and the beginnings of the Rebellion.

And of course Darth Vader, Boba Fett and the Emperor are going to make the occasional appearance. Anyone who thinks they won't ever appear in stories set during this period is on crack. The series just won't be built around them.

''Bingo. And that's pretty much exactly what the interviewer at IESB did. He prodded at the marketing guy until he got the answer (or the hint at an answer) that he wanted to hear. And then he ran with it.''

I thought that when i saw the clip,it seemed pretty obvious.

I personally like the idea of a tv show.

There's potential for some good arcs using new characters as well as the droids.

Wishful thinking leads me to imagine the Darths used sparingly, with villainy portrayed by Imperials/Bounty hunters/Hutts etc

Maybe the focus of the show being a smallish group of Jedi trying to survive the purge.(kind of obvious)

There's untapped potential in the Star Wars universe. A tv show set between III and IV can in theory can combine the best of both trilogies.

Or it can be Farscape with lightsabres.

If ever there is a film,i would imagine it would be a spinoff from the live action tv show. Most likely a one off too.

A very small interview with Lucas on the Red Carpet at yesterdays UK premiere. For those too lazy to click a link:

'Asked if he would ever be tempted to produce another instalment, he said: "Absolutely never".

"This Star Wars tells the story of Darth Vader, and now we've had his birth and his end, so that's it."'

Star Wars is just a story (albeit one we all enjoy). With the PT added on to the OT, we have the complete story of Anakin/Vader-and that story is done.

The problem is that Lucas crafted a universe as a part of telling the story. It served the purpose of enriching the story, giving the story plausibility, but beyond that a fictional made-up universe serves no purpose. Fandom essentially wants to keep this universe alive. No more movies means, for all intents and purposes, their beloved universe is defunct. Yeah, yeah there will be books, and TV, and comics and all that other stuff--but the movies are the gospel. Everything else is just tacked on.

The point is that you gotta know when you've gotten all you can out of something. You keep adding and adding and before long you have something that doesn't resemble the thing you started out with-all for the sake of keeping it alive.

To be fair, on the last two episodes, the production team started using alot more EU references, specifically when naming aliens during dress-rehersals and mask try-ons. Then there´s the adding of some vehicles and ships from outside the movies, and a couple of characters. So, certain parts of EU has become intermingled with the movie-verse and I believe the upcoming series will contribute to this trend, hopefully in a positive way.

Wait... you're seeing it on IMAX? WTF? I thought there wasn't going to be an IMAX version of ROTS.

Am I out of it? When did this happen or is Mighty Joe Young just making this up?

Many IMAX theaters will show a 35mm print on thier IMAX screen for the major event pictures. The Webb Chapel Imax in Dallas does this all the time. The newspaper ads will say "REVENGE OF THE SITH IN IMAX" (and in small print: 35mm)

It's the same film as every other non digital theater, just bigger and more washed out since it's not the normal 70mm IMAX film stock.

Alot gets cut out at the IMAX. Attack of the Clones there was way shorter than the theatrical version.

Some retarded radio station dj here in the Philadelphia area (supposedly a Star Wars expert) was going on and on about how he guarantee's that Episodes 7,8 and 9 WILL be made. He kept referring to an interview Lucas did about 10 years ago saying the next batch will be made but only if Speilberg was to do it. Then he contradicted himself saying Lucas will definitly do 7 himself, and more after that if he's still alive!
This guy kept shoveling this crap out on the radio and I kept getting more and more pissed by the second, mainly because a jerkoff like this has so many people listening to him and believing him. This is how rumors start.

So making up shit is how rumors start. Everything makes sense now.

Thanks for clearing that up.

And I'm guessing you called in to the station to stop the atroscities?

My money is on more movies, but only after Lucas has kicked the bucket and his kids sell the rights to the highest bidder ...

I would have if I had the number. Then I figured I'd come home, look up the number, tell everybody here (302-478-2700), and have everyone slam their phone lines correcting them. Then I figured we'd start our own rumors on how the radio station is moving to an all gay rights talk show format.

It was just one of those things that pissed me off. If someone on here sayed what he was saying, theres no words that could describe the flaming they would have recieved.
