I was a little underwhelmed by the Super Bowl trailer. Was expecting some new stuff, at least.

Still looking forward to this though.

Having seen it tonight, it was more ID4 than ID4, complete with the same plot device of "taking out the mother ship/communication ship so that all of the alien ships around the planet will suddenly deactivate and start blowing up." I think they copied the exact same line about "tell the world how to kill these bastards."

So aside from this being a forgettable action flick with a lousy script and bad dialogue, this film is very important and I'll tell you why: The special effects were seamless. They were terrific. And I just didn't give a shit. I think we've passed the point where even flawless visuals don't count for anything and this film proves it. I don't know what could have made Battle: LA a better movie - even if the acting/dialogue wasn't corny and it was District 9 meets Black Hawk Down with some superstar director at the helm it wouldn't make a difference. Special effects action movies on their own have totally lost their magic.

The industry is too diluted with throwaway actioneers. The effects are coming so cheap and hollywood is cranking these babies out like sugar cookies. It's a sad day when I can no longer walk out of what would otherwise be a dazzling visual feast to shrug and say "at least it was a good action movie."

So you're saying that it was a piece of crap, with boring eye-candy?Is it worse than Skyline?

I have to admit, it's starting to get typical, you just can't seem to expect quality anymore like a good story, it's like the simpelest movies are the best ones nowadays, take "Devil"for instance or "Burried", has it finally come to these standards?

A very forgettable movie that I guess at least entertains for the two hours you are sitting in the theater. Pacing was strange, editing was even stranger. I never really got a feeling of danger. But the cgi was pretty good.
