Over the course of the films, wouldn't it have been INTERESTING to try and figure out what was the SOURCE of those voices? Was it himself, wrapped up in an ever deepening MADNESS, or (nice plot twist) have it finally revealed that it wasn't him, but Palpatine or some other Dark Side master?

Yeah, that would have been great, but they squandered the two prior films so that they could do their mass brainwashing AGENDA instead.

I've always said that Abrams is SUPERB at visuals and gawk fests, and I've never denied it.
But his track record for writing satisfying endings with satisfying characters is well established as being awful, and the endings are universally thin when it comes to being original and/or clever.
Abrams has a helluva hurdle to clear to make this a great film that overcomes all of The Last Jedi's egregious insults, and that hurdle is HIMSELF.

And CGI Leia looks awful. Instantly identifiable in the last batch of commercials.
She is now the Queen of the Uncanny Valley.

One thing's for sure, if you're into spectacle porn, then episode 9 will be for you.

At the final confrontation, however, Ghost Yoda doesn't summon streams of lightning at Sidious, Ghost Luke doesn't simply yank Sidious' towering medical device atop of him, and worst of all, Ghost Windu doesn't show up to throw his severed hands into Sidious' face.

Anyway, I don't really have much in the way of an emotional response after reading the spoilers. I mean, I expected something like this, but I think a lot of the anger I had after Last Jedi has just kind of burnt itself out. I know that George had conclusively told Ian that Palpatine was 100% dead, but I appreciate that this movie is JJ basically scrambling to get out of the corner Rian boxed him into. I don't know why he never went with Snoke just being Plagueis though. Rey and Kylo also just casually learning the death-preventing technique that Plagueis and Palpatine could never figure out and which caused Anakin to turn into Vader in the first place almost feels like a troll, but whatever.

It's a shame that the Skywalker line ends with a Palpatine usurping it, and I wish those rumors about George coming in with a secret Skywalker had played out, but it is what it is. I'm not planning on paying to see this movie anyway. What I do know though is that i'm really enjoying the Mandalorian a lot more than I thought I would, so at least there's that to hold on to.

You honestly think the women of the ST is the problem here? Guess what? They're not. My problem isn't with the cast either female or male. It's the script or the plot of this movie and how it doesn't really connect to the previous two films. Even The Last Jedi doesn't really help push the Skywalker narrative forward.

Kyle, do you know what a job of an actor/actress is? It's to be told how to act and how to convey what both the director and writers both intended them to do. Remember the Shakespeare comparison I made last night? Shakespeare wanted to write great plays but, it's the actors and the playwrights that decide how to interpret his intentions and how to execute his vision.

The women is not to blame for the paper thin plot that this film carries. Do you honestly think if Disney cast Rey as a male protagonist named like oh I don't know, Rene or something, but kept the same script, same characters throughout the trilogy that it would make the whole thing any better? Absolutely not.

The plot or the script for the movie will still be bad. What I said last night was me just expressing my disappointment by simply disavowing the entire Sequel Trilogy and pretending it doesn't exist. Actually, I did address your points by saying the script is the problem, not Rey or any one of the female characters throughout the ST. I guarantee you if Carrie Fisher was alive today, I bet she would have given you a serious talking to. She would say you have a phobia of strong women in leading roles. That includes Rose, Hondo, and both the new supporting female characters in TROS.

Rey is still a woman to me. I prefer to classify her as such because that's her gender, If I were to meet Daisy Ridley in real life - Do I treat her like garbage the way you have throughout this year or show respect to her as a true woman?
