If you want this footage, or would like to chat in person with some MFers (take that how you will), climb onto the nsane network on IRC and got to channel #falconforum. It is the best way to spread the wealth. And you can even thank me in PERSON for sitting my camera on my knee and taping this great crap that everyone is going gaga over. Stop in, chat, call us assholes. :chewbacca: Party on.

Could someone please post another download? All links appear dead. I haven't downloaded it yet since I was at Celebration and got to see it in all its digital glory. Now I would like to go back for a refresher. On a side note I was disappointed that they didn't end up showing the films in digital since the projector was right there. oh well. thanks in advance for the link. Biggest size please.

Someone actually asked Rick McCullum that at the viewing I saw, and he said that yes they did remove it cos it worked better this way with the way that the final cut of the movie turned out.

Bullshit. It sucked and looked stupid, but they don't want to say they folded to fan pressure because then the flood gates will open with people trying to get stuff changed. Think about that. Think about what would happen if a billion Star Wars nuts knew for a fact that if they complained loud enough, they could directly influence the movie. So what happens instead is a few things DO change, and the official word becomes, "Oh, we meant to do that..." From a practical standpoint, it's really the only way to handle it.

You are fucking insane. George constantly twiddles and fiddles as the movie is being made and it's most likely he changed it himself.

George listening to fan pressure is fucking ridiculous. Only in your fantasies. We've had six years of endless CGI bashing, so what does he do? He ramps up the CGI! Deep in his soul, this man wants to fucking do what he wants. He's worked very hard to be able to be independent. No way is he going to bow to dipshits on the net.

Yeah right, I think what Mike said is absolutely right. Yes, it did look stupid, and yes, it more than likely was changed due to fan response.

That's even more apparent by this half-assed statement:

"Cause it worked better this way, with the way that the final cut of the movie turned out."

Even an idiot can see through that.

By the way, anyone got a working link to the new brightened version of the footage? The links die in like two seconds, man. Thanks.

I agree. Too bad it took until now for Lucas to realize that sometimes people are actually right when enough of them say "wow, that really looks stupid"

" I think what Mike said is absolutely right."

Ridiculous.

There's far too many numbnuts in the world who reach a conclusion because it makes them feel better rather than because of objective evidence and common sense.

lol wtf are you talking about? How does this make me "feel better"? I couldn't care either way. I'm just saying that the most logical explanation is that Lucas was aware that everyone thought it looked stupid, so he changed it. This is the most logical of the two explanations; this is occam's razor.

Do you think he would just suddenly go back so late in the film and remove this because he decided it "worked best with the final film" or whatever typical official statement BS they usually give? So It works best with the final film to have his hands removed from the upright position? lol, yeah ok, whatever.

I don't know why some of you defend Lucas like a diety, but whatever. It really isn't a significant enough change to even bother discussing.

So "common sense" says that them changing it around the same time that people were saying over and over that it looked stupid was simply a coincidence? What is your "objective evidence" that says they really just changed it for the hell of it? Obviously they do listen to fan opinion at least somewhat...look at the ex post facto horror that fans expressed at Jar Jar. Did you see much of him in AOTC? Nope. I think he does listen, but won't admit it for the reasons that were mentioned in earlier posts. Of course he is still headstrong about many things. But there is a big difference between being headstrong and being blatantly stupid.

I think if Lucas really listened to "fan" outcry a bunch of stuff in the Special Editions would have been changed back to their original form, we would have the O-OT as well as the SE's on dvd, Jar Jar would have been violently killed in episode 2, and Peter Jackson would be directing the movies.

lol good point, but I think Lucas leaves some things in to diliberately thumb his nose at the fans. I understand that he's saying "this is my SW, fuck you" and I really don't blame him. To be honest, I think he personally hates the fans and all critics alike.

I wouldn't like a bunch of geeks trying to direct my art, either. But do I think he listens to the fans sometimes? Yeah, of course.

Why? He has said time and time again they are his stories. Besides I don't think he reads what the fans want. Ever.

Most people don't live their lives on message boards you know. Perhaps someone can put a word in his ear, like Pablo, saying people don't like this or that but he is not going to change things if he doesn't want to. If it were me I wouldn't give a crap what people thought as long as I was satisfied with my own freakin work.

No, if Lucas listened to every single thing the fans say, then probably. But in reality, there is a certain amount of pressure bowed to, and a certain amount of independence exercised. All things in moderation, don't you know.

Lucas seems like too much of a recluse to care if you ask me. That teaser was done in October or November. There were months and months of time to change things. Look at how many other things get changed because Lucas isn't happy with it.

Did the original shot look silly? Yeah sorta...it did look more like a guy in a halloween costume than a movie I suppose but how can anyone say Lucas didn't come to the conclusion on his own? A small group of people bitching on an internet forum of all things is probably the last thing that will change his mind. How do we know that Spielberg or Coppola didn't see it and say they thought it was awkward?

For internet sheep (hey I'm one of them too I guess) to say they had an influence in the final cut of ROTS is not only self glorifying ("we know better than Lucas!") it's just utterly absurd when looking at it from a logical standpoint.

Sorry if this is a bit of a tangent...but I really hope they do a lot of good camera trickery to make Haden look bigger in that suit. Some of the ROTS promo pictures really look semi-ridiculous. His head just looks too big for his body...like Lord Helmet from Spaceballs. * thinks of James Earl Jones saying "evil will always triumph because good is dumb" *

Not to get off topic here, but what's with all the gay bashing around here? I'm not all that PC, but this IS the 21st century now. There's far worse things you should be able to call a person without sounding like a homophobic idiot.

Try scanning through a dictionary once in a while. Plenty of adjectives and nouns to try on people besides "superfriend" and "homo". Get imaginative.

But you're still insinuating that to be "gay" or a "superfriend" is to BE soft and pansy. And believe me, I've met plenty gay men that could bench press your ass into the netherworld. That is, if they didn't want to do something else entirely to your ass that might make you think twice about what it truly means to be a man.

Don't worry, I'm not going to start flying the rainbow flag around here. I'm a proud hetero with a lovely gf. It's just that I've met too many guys that superfriend bash and then go home and call the gay singles line. Just be yourself, man. We're all together in this. But it doesn't do you any favors to sound like an uneducated hick calling people those names.

When I was there they said it was just more archive stuff. It's the same music they used for the ILM presentation at C2, which I believe is somewhere on the AOTC DVD. There was some pretty good footage in there, I thought.... especially seeing Obi-Wan riding Boga alongside Grievous.
