Really? We are allowed to host the pre released sound track illegally, ripped dvd material from the trivial pursuit game. But we can't host an interview?

Right, none of the content is ever hosted here, yet there are always links to a yousendit or youshareit for people to download it. So while you may not directly host the files, you are still promoting it.

I pay for Hyperspace. If you want the content, pay for it yourself.

And is this a complaint of some type? People are able to get a hold of certain pieces of information or footage or music from the new movie and put it here for every one to enjoy. But once some one doesn't want to give you something that will bring the wrath of flannel down on MF.com, you get mad about it? :?

Oh and by the way, thank you to every one who has ever been able to put up some great spoilers for us here. And also to Ternian, DP and everyone whoh keeps this place going. You are Gods among insects!

Actually nobody said anything about not wanting to give me it, I just asked if someone could do it.

All I did was ask, and you decided to fire off at me about "certain people can get a hold of blah blah" more than enough people can get this hyperspace content and put it on yousendit. And there are various people requesting hosting to things like the soundtrack, yet I don't see people saying "WELL WAIT AND BUY IT!"

Look, I'm new here, I hardly post, and while I try to put up atleast one mirror of anything I download here (like anyone else should) I owe my access to it in the first place to others.

Even I know the difference between posting links/promoting sharing of files that are floating about in the ether (from books, games you can buy at toy stores, pictures from magazines, etc.) and posting or linking to content that is exclusively available via Hyperspace membership.

The difference is simple. The first group of spoilers/info/etc. won't get this site shut down. The second one could - easily. Legal action could be taken, the site might be hacked to prevent our access to it, etc. etc. etc. It's in the best interests of anyone here to understand this difference.

Right and what I'm saying is that releasing the RoTS soundtrack for everyone to download and releasing a video found on hyperspace are no different. Both cost money to access, which is why I am saying that people are being hypocritical when they say it's ok for people to post links to the unreleased soundtrack but it's not ok to post links to a video from hyperspace?

Hyperspace and buying a cd are no different, it's just different in the method of which money is transfered. The former requires a credit card online and the latter requires you to go to a store and pay in money (or credit card if you wish).

Also, I don't believe that MF would be directly responsible for someone posting a link on yousendit for a hyperspace video as MF is simply giving out where to get the file and not the file itself.

It's like saying you could go to jail for telling people where they can illegally by guns.

Actually your argument has a few holes.

You're trying to differentiate between something tangible and something digital on the computer. When again there is no difference as they are both forms of intellectual property.

If you leaked scanned pages you are leaking intellectual property that someone would have had to normally PAY for. So regardless if you leaked the whole thing or not, you're still causing the publisher to lose money since you now have taken content that a person would bought the magazine for and given it to them for free thus removing the purpose of buying that magazine.

But since you probably don't want to go down that road, I'll just make it even easier.

Let's suppose you could buy the mp3s for the RoTS soundtrack online (through something like iTunes)

By releasing the soundtrack online (and worse, before it's release) you are indeed doing the exact same thing you would have done if you gave out a video from hyperspace. Both are things you can buy online and both are things you ripped off.

I don't know the details of the history between MF and LFL, I'll assume that they've contacted you previously about their content showing up on MF. To which I can completely understand why you don't want people asking for Hyperspace material.

My argument rests on your inability to differentiate between scanning some pages out of a book and putting them online and taking a movie from a subscription service and linking to it for free.

Both are stealing.

Get it?

Its really as simple as:

Hyperspace - LFL will make truoble

NonHyperspace - LFL will not make as much trouble

At least that is what I get out of it. It dosne't seem to have much to do with the actual legality of copyright infringement.

And like I said, I completely agree with that.

Hey Fatboy, why didn't you just leave your response as this:
Fatboy Roberts wrote:
Apparently, to LFL, it IS. And it's not like we're talking out our ass here, dude. There IS a history to this.

Rather you went on to this:

Fatboy Roberts wrote:
Look at it this way: A book, a CD, a DVD--those are all tangible things. You can hold them, you can look at the artwork, you can put a bookmark in it, flip the page, dogear it, you can look for easter eggs and special things.

Stuff on hyperspace--is internet only stuff. You can only get it on the internet. It's made available on the internet, and is an internet product.

Now, if I leak some scanned pages--that's not the same as leaking the book. I can't file transfer you the book and you get a bound, numbered edition of a book you can flip through on the other end. But if I take something from one website, and make it available on another, I'm offering you the EXACT same thing. There's no degradation of the material, there's no lessening of quality. It's the EXACT SAME THING, and THAT can be seen as a threat to their moneymaking ability.

Which is why it's different. Which is why they go apeshit when Hyperspace stuff is posted. Which is why people tell you to NOT ASK. Which is why I repeated my earlier post to you.

Get it now?

To which I made my reply.

By the way you seem a bit angry, and you know what happens after anger....

....hate :meatwad:
