I'm pretty sure that it was always intended to be an Ani/Sandpeople pt. 2 (as far as screentime goes) and then we get to see snippets on the Jedi holograms when Obi and Yoda come back.

It's partly a point of rating (seeing people die by blasters (AOTC-Geonosis) and by getting sliced and diced are completely different things when it comes to the MPAA) and a storytelling device (what you don't see is more powerful)

I think GL has been very clever here. All Jedi are told that love is forbidden for Jedi, but being a romantic and rebellious soul Ani falls for and marries Padme nonetheless. But its that love that twists him (after the loss of Shmi) and causes his downfall, along with his feelings of fear for losing her.
If Qui Gon were still watching over Anakin none of this would have happened, because Jinn understood that love was the way, not fear. And through his teachings, Anakin would have managed his emotions and been a truly great Jedi, not just a great warrior (Wars don't make one great). By having Maul take out Qui Gon, the sith scored their greatest victory - but also, in death, Qui Gon was able to impart his knowledge to Yoda (who was by his own admission too arrogant to see it before) and set up the future revival of the Jedi.
I'm beginning to wonder if the Choosen One wasn't Anakin at all but Qui Gon...

back to topic, as for a scene missing, whatever it was I don't think it will be gone for long, it will remain in the digital version, but the crappy film version (which has to be locked sooner) will lose some Kashyyyk I reckon. Already lost Yoda on Dagobah because GL soesn't want to Return of the King ending, and rightly so (even though that film is amazingly powerful, comparing that to this will be like letting off a firecracker before a nuclear strike).

Yes but this movie in particular focuses on the dark and evil atmosphere, so people must get SHOCKED about what Anakin is doing, they must see him in action, holograms wont give you the feeling that you're actually there.

The Tusken slaughter wasn't wasn't shown onscreen either. I am imagine the same will happen with the Jedi Temple massacre (or seen only thru hologram).

It's not exactly a "this=that" situation, but it's worth more than the word of someone claiming to live in the vicinity of the studio. anyone can claim to know insider info. (I'm a retard for mentioning SS (posting from year 1998) at MF is a prime example of that.)

I thought that it was accepted wisdom in the entire universe to say that SS (posting from year 1998) is the saddest piece of crap alive, and that to even utter its name on a site as cool as this should bring down plague, frogs, boils and sacrifice on whoever utters it (I'm protected, I crossed my fingers...)
I called this charlatan out in mails a few times and no bite, because I guess the bubble of fantasy it lives in is pretty all-consuming.
Sorry if I seem distracted, Natalie Portman is cooking my dinner and Harrison Ford is building me a new coffee table. I really, out of all respect to privacy, shouldn't say what Carrie Fisher is doing...

yeah, whatever the outcome, we will definatly see more on the dvd release.

personally I wouldn't really give a crap wether we see graphical dismemberments or not. As long as the viewer gets the idea Vader is chopping his former collegues down with a laser blade it's fine with me.

Saying hello. :) Normally, I lurk here, but this thread caught my attention. This is interesting, considering the deletion or inclusion of certain scenes affected the continuity/lack of such in AotC.

When I finally saw the deleted scenes from AotC (and re-read the novelization, in which those deleted scenes were in order, and in context) I noticed some things:

-the scenes were basically deleted to bring the film within time limits
-the scenes, except for one, were germane to the story, and would have made it better, had they been left in
-deleting so much from AotC gave it something of a choppy feeling, as far as the linear continuity of the film

Applying this to RotS, I would prefer a longer film, with everything in it, so that Mr. Lucas tells the story he wants to tell. As for what the rating's going to be, he's already said in his "60 Minutes" interview with Lesley Stahl from Palm Sunday, that the movie will have a PG-13 rating in the U.S. So, I imagine that there will be some rather violent scenes, though not along the lines of "Freddy's Nightmare Meets Alien" or some such rubbish. :?

 WTF? I was only using him as an example of how common it is for retarded people to vainly attempt to be cool by making up shit.
It's not like I was shouting out shit like "HE SAID THIS, SO IT MUST BE TRUE!"

Think a little about the context it's used in before you start calling people retarded, unless you want to sound as retarded as that damn deluded ass.

According to the "Making of" book, a scene where "crazy" Yoda and Chewie ambush a walker and capture it was cut. So I'm thinking that "Chewie performs a critical service" is the one that's gone. Reading it, I would have liked to see it... maybe on the DVD, I suppose.

Just to add in some weight to the arguement that it is the "Chewy" spoiler that is no longer in the film, if you read the script it has a scene that shows Chewy saving Yoda from the clone army, yet that appears in neither the comic or the novel. Meanwhile, most of the Qui-Gon parts of the script make it into them, with the exception of a line or two.

Well, from the Trivia-Pursuit-DVD we know that Yoda talks to Obi Wan about Qui Gon, who made contact with him. It would be really strange, if Yoda's dialogue with him would be left offscreen.

I'm pretty sure the temple raid is mostly gone, as the videogame has that level described as one of those "beyond the movie" deals. Think of it as a kind of interactive expanded universe crap.

Well, it was never shown in the script in the first place.

It was just a dream of 12 year olds who wanted to see Anakin slaughtering little kids to make him look "hard".

I was more interested in seeing him take out the remaining Jedi Masters, but whatever. I'll do it in the game.
