I can't believe that Jabbas eyes are yellow not orange, this has to be the incomplete scene because he is also to dark!

A lot of neat stuff here; thanks for all the links. So Jabba still looks a little wonky, big deal; anyone complaining about the realism (or lack thereof) of a gigantic, talking slug may need to seek help.

Does anyone know if these screenshots are from the region one release of the DVDs?

FWIW, the reason Kenobi looks so solid in ROTJ is because he is....

In ESB, Guinness filmed his scenes in front of a blue screen, a la Terrance Stamp in TPM. He didn't care for this, and as a result, he was actually on the set for his scenes in ROTJ. You can see him brush aside some plants when he makes his entrance. (Why do ghosts need to sit down anyway?)

If he looks more solid than non-SE ROTJ, I'd chalk it up to the transfer and color correction. But to my eyes, he's always looked more solid in ROTJ.

As for scanning the original Jabba and Yoda, I've heard they've both degraded too much. That's why didn't reuse the Yoda puppet in TPM.

Thanks for that! That was one of my biggest niggles of the SE's, Leia's rigoddamndiculous hand cannon SFX! I bet it was used as some inside joke or someting to do with Ben Burt.

Darth First, are the versions you have the Region 1 or Region 2 versions? PAL or NTSC? Is Chewbacca's growling in Empire as he strangles Lando still there?

I just cannot get over the horrible PURPOSFUL inconsistencies between shots on Vaders saber. If the entire thing was changed for the entirity of his fights i could deal, but it changes from shot to shot! Un-fucking-believable.

I think Bob The Goon hit the nail on the head on why a lot of people are so bent out of shape over the SEs. They're half-assed.

I mean, why did Lucas feel it necessary to put in the redundant and poorly executed Jabba scene in ANH when he didn't even bother trying to fix the lightsabers on SE v1.0? If you're gonna add a scream to ESB, (a lousy idea to begin with) why not get Hamill or hell, anyone, to record a new scream instead of recycling a scream that was already used in ROTJ? (Yes, I know it's out in SE v2.0) Why mess around with a whole new "Jedi Rocks" in ROTJ when you don't even touch the Rancor? (Again, I know it's fixed.) The list goes on and on... The now-you-see-em-now-you-don't windows in ESB. The gimbals holding up the speederbikes... The mattes that weren't cleaned up...

Assuming these leaks are final versions of SE v2.0, they're still half-assed. Hell, that's why I think they're real. And I think that's what chafes everyone's hides. I know that's what bothers me.... Lucasfilm and ILM used to be The Best; now they can't even do the crown jewels of their empire the justice they deserve.

Anybody that can help with this mIRC error? I'm new to mIRC, but I'm fairly computer literate. Here is the error:
#nsane-warez You need voice (+v) (#nsane-warez)

How do I get a voice?

Thanks to all,

I think it's the screencap that makes him look so dark. It will probably be a bit different on your TV...

How are the commentary tracks overall? Entertaining? Boring? What did you think of them?

And despite the trouble with the lightsabers, would you say the DVDs are worth all the money that we're going to spend on them?

Hi there.

DARTH FIRST Let me just say thank you for these awesome dvd spoilers.

Man we geeks are so hungry for this stuff its like cocaine.

DARTH FIRST I've got plenty of questions for ya. If you answer even half, I'll be happy.

1.- Have any technical readouts or display screens been changed? Most notably, R2's readouts of the death star in New Hope, once he's been plugged into the Massassi temple, the death star that has that dish hole where the trench should be, is that still there?

2.- How about the really lame scenes of x-wing/y-wing pov shots with the lame laser and pinball game sound effects and smoky spark effects in New Hope?

3.- The infamous "Emperor eye worm" in ROTJ.. still there?

4.- Are any of the menus fully animated, a la the Jango/Obi fight from the Kamino "options" menu on episode 2 dvd?

5.- Actually, I'll let you chew on those and answer them if youre oh so kind before I ask more :)

good god...

people have to know every single damn last detail, like if it isnt up to par, they are going to rant and complian to lucasfilm and get it changed...

look, it comes out in a couple months, you can find out every miniscule change then, changes will be made, have been made, some will hate them, some will love them, either way its not going to change how things are by the time they are released.

so sit back and wait, or go download the damn thing and do your own research.

Ok, deep breath.

I'm not a sheep, but I am 36 and I have grown up with the movies. That said, when you watch these damn movies over and over and over again for TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS, your eye tends to notice things, and your brain starts to remember them. For me, it's not about nitpicking just to nitpick, it's about fixing things my eye has seen over the years.

For example, the mouse alien in the cantina - you can see right through his eyes in the head of the costume. NOBODY has brought that up yet. I want it fixed because it's a distraction TO ME, just like other people want things fixed because it's important TO THEM. Don't piss all over someone because they want a nitpick fixed and you don't.

Mike

Hey guys, to answer some questions...

* Shof of 3 Ties leaving the Death Star appears the same

* Tauntauns look good, just very subtly tweaked motions to appear smoother and no-longer stop-motiony

* Dianoga has been subtly enhanced with CGI. It now blinks and has a slightly different pupil/iris

* Yes, the Vader Star Destroyer scene is still present at the end of ESB. However the soundtrack has been polished so there is slightly less of a jump in the music, but it's still noticable, uneccessary and annoying

* Yes Luke's scream as he falls HAS been removed

* Yes Chewie's growl is still there (why wouldn't it be?)

* Commentaries are great but DO NOT acknowledge or discuss any changes with the one exception of the new Naboo shot in ROTJ, Ben Burtt is talking about the different celebration scenes and says "here's a shot of Naboo which of course was Padme's home" and that's it.

* Technical readouts in fighters and the Rebel Briefing scene are the same. Only tech thing changed seems to be that tractor beam shot

* Some of the Death Star model shots still look like model shots

* There is a shot, just after Luke says "I got him!" in the Falcon/Tie battle, where two ties fly past. Matte boxes are clearly visible. This seemed to be the only shot they had missed - all others have been fixed, as far as I noticed.

* Yes the menus are fully animated - for ANH there is a great menu of a Jawa sandcrawler and R5 blowing his gasket, plus a FANTASTIC animated menu aboard the Falcon with Luke training

* And, for the very last time, these are the ABSOLUTE FINAL DVD versions. I know this for an absolute certainty

* No I obviously can't give away how I have them as this will betray my position/source

- What is the "emperor eye worm"???

- Erm, no, I'm not a corporate puppet. I'm just a lucky fucker of a fan trying to make his way on the message boards and share some info with fellow fans. So chill.

- Yes the DVDs are fantastic and are worth the money, despite some niggling errors like sabers etc, I'd still prefer em over my OT bootleg DVDs anyday

- Will be working to try and get you guys some vision asap but don't hold your breath. I ain't no hi-tech dude! Klownicle will be teaching me the ways of the force.

Later
DF

*sigh*

I guess some people are never satisfied. Come on folks, this guy is the real deal ... how hard is that to understand? You don't ask people to "offer proof" that they're the real deal, because a) 99.9% of the time they can't because of security issues and b) it really gets on everyone's nerves, especially the one providing content.

It occurred to me that perhaps the Pink Lightsaber shots were us and not the DVD’s. Every Star Wars DVD has a THX color and audio calibrator. I spent a lot of time calibrating my system so that everything was correct. When this idea hit me, I thought “Yes! That’s it!” However, it wasn’t. Also if you check out the pink Lightsaber next to Vader’s red chest plate, it’s even more apparent. This is a really odd screw up. Man, I really thought I had the answer that time. :) I don't mean to beat a newly deceased horse or anything. It's just kind of ironic that they give you a color calibrator when they are the ones that need it. Check out the A-Wing as well...

I still really enjoy it though. It's stil way worth owning this September.

Thank you, Klownicle. When my first daughter is of age, she will be sent to you for safe keeping.

I have just run a little morph animation from the ROTJ Jabba to the ANH 2004 Jabba. I must say ILM have tried. In fact even if they had just colour matched the new one to the ROTJ one I don't think there would be as many complaints.

Anyone fancy hosting the morph quicktime movie for me? Its only 300k.

Lucas didn't really match up to the ROTJ puppet in terms of color and skin texture

Ya' know since Jabba is in the dark the whole time in JEDI I don't think this is a legitimate complaint, I mean he is in broad daylight in ANH, that accounts for at least some of the difference, color/texture-wise at least.
