The Lore! The world building! The mythological tropes!
Loved the nod to Indiana Jones too.

This show manages to pull me into it's world - one where I'm completely invested in it's story, characters/setting and am unaware of the world around me. I have not experienced this feeling, since The Clone Wars CG animated show and it feels damn great. Invested and hanging for Episode 3!

Please JUMP INSIDE THE TRASH COMPACTOR Kennedy/Abrams/Johnson/Hidalgo, and let those who KNOW TO THEIR BONES what Star Wars is TRULY about take the reigns from you agenda-driven-pukes!

Time to do with The Sequel Trilogy what Disney did to The Expanded Universe: FLUSH IT DOWN THE TOILET where it rightfully belongs. Make it non-canon, or FORGET about it, so that we can easily pretend that the past ten years of that sewage didn't happen. Keep the little that was great (Rogue One, some of the comic book material) and discard the rest. Favreau is IT...!

Have him take the reigns. Double Hamill's pay, get him to come back to do a series like this. Have him lay down the tracks where Luke is alive. Luke is brave. Luke is intelligent. Where Luke won't consider murdering family while they sleep.

And a hero worthy to admire till one's dying days. Would he do it? Can you hear how HEARTBROKEN he is in the years' worth of interviews? Hamill carried Luke's torch for DECADES. He was all set to go to his grave, knowing that he was loved and admired the world over. He was as betrayed as Luke ever was, and that amazing legacy was stolen from him. How could he say no to making it all right?

Another spectacular chapter. Loved it.

I liked the first episode but I enjoyed this one much, much more. The sequence with mud rhino reminded me of some the deleted ideas from the Jango/Reek storyboards from AOTC. The Jawas in this chapter were certainly a more nasty pack than what we're accustomed to seeing. I'm definitely intrigued about where they're going with the little green guy and how he fits into the grand scheme of things, even moreso after seeing what he does in this episode. I love the theme for the Mando, the chimes toward the end of it during the credits are very reminiscent of the pocket-watch melody from "For A Few Dollars More" which is no doubt intentional given the Sergio Leone/Spaghetti Western influence on the series as a whole. The jawas were significantly more vicious than we've seen before. The brown cloaks are more tame than the gray ones.

After seeing what he's capable of, baby Yoda is wanted by the Empire to feed Palpatine.

I liked it, it feels very much like a live action cartoon (in a good way). And it was great to see the Jawas being used to good effect. However, 2 episodes in, it does seem extremely lightweight. Given that this is the Star Wars flagship TV show, I was expecting something with the emotional heft and intricate plotting/development of Game of Thrones or The Crown. This of course may build over the weeks to come, but for me, it needs to ramp up quality quickly to ever seriously compete with the reach of a Star Wars movie.

I like the way the Mando has to learn and grow in each episode. In the first one he had to learn to ride a blurgg, and overcome his own impatience and gain new skills. In this one he learns to negotiate and seek a way to work with the Jawas. His challenges are not just physical ones. Even when it comes down to just that thing: physical challenges, he fails in this episode. His attempt to hijack the crawler fails, and his attempt to kill a mudhorn also fails until he gets a "lift" from the Yo-Babe.

By the way, I read a review that said the baby put the mudhorn in a state of "suspended animation" which is at the same time incorrect and yet delightfully correct.

Yeah, I really like the fact that they turned the Jawas into real bastards with this episode. The scene where he scales the side of the sandcrawler is right up there with the best action scenes in the saga. Loved the small homage to Last Crusade when the Mandalorian was hanging off the side of the sandcrawler ans was nearly crushed by one of the rocks along the side.

Liking this series so far. This coupled with the release of Jedi Fallen Order have really re-ignited my love of Star Wars.

Just two episodes in and it feels like there's a real vision behind this show. I wish the Yoda-ling was all CG but that's a small complaint.

I just had a look at that poster from the first post in this topic. Chapter 7 is scheduled - rather unusually - for Wednesday, December 18 and the last one - again for Friday. Do you guys think that Wednesday show will introduce a plot point somehow connected with TROS, or is it a coincidence? Just a wild guess based on TROS spoilers we've read so far: could it be something about Palpatine who somehow survived and secretly "feeds" on the Force of others to replenish his own (thus hunting for baby Yoda... and luring Rey.)

No. I think it will introduce a plot point for Chapter 8. Then Chapter 8 will tease Season 2.

I believe this to be the case. I've got a strong feeling it's got something to do with Midichlorians. The only two known members of the 'Yoda' species both were Jedi Masters and on the Jedi High Council. Now this new third character is also Force sensitive. Pretty sure it's in their biology (Midichlorians) to have a strong connection to the Force. The people who want the Yoda toddler are still loyal to the Imperial remnant and one of them is a doctor. So my thought is that these guys will study the Midichlorians, probably to gain new insights on how to resurrect Palpy back into a living form or something of that kind, connecting the series with the last Skywalker saga movie.

I'm unaware of the actual leaks for Rise Of Skywalker though, so this might have already been debunked by the leaks or something, please don't spoil me :p

I am fairly certain I read or heard that searching for Ezra - I mean Snoke - is going to be part of the Mando story. So maybe there will be some great revelations about Snoke's relationship to Palpy. Or...?

I don’t think there’s much logic in trying to connect The Mandolrian to the sequels, in a meaningful way at least, although I’m sure there will be continued references along the way. The sequels are all but over, and I think their legacy is somewhat tainted (but that’s just my personal view). I suspect The Mandolrian will be connecting much more to the OT/PT, and if there’re really clever, will be connecting it to future films (assuming Lucasfilm/Disney have a sense of where new films are going). The Star Wars ‘underworld’ (be it set pre or post PT/OT) would have been a much more fulfilling and fruitful trilogy of new films (IMO), and The Mandalorian is a taster of what that could have been. For me, Star Wars should be first and foremost a cinematic experience... and if Lucasfilm relegate all its best ideas to Disney + TV series, I don’t think the franchise will have a long shelf life.

I disagree and think Star Wars will have a long shelf life on streaming. Filoni notes that George Lucas even said that the future of Star Wars is on streaming to feel more episodic with the series in the works.

I’m not sure Lucas ever said that Star Wars didn’t have a future in cinema (which is what you’re inferring isn’t it?)... and if he did, I’m sure there was a certain amount of irony involved. I’d posit that more people will watch, and pay for, TROS than they will The Mandalorian. Which means, unless something dramatic changes (which is always possible I concede) the money will be in live action movies. Which isn’t to say that there can’t be both movies and TV series working in harmony, but my point is the movies will still need to be there, and successful, for a TV series to attract the audience. And currently, I think their strategy (Disney) around the movies is failing.
