From the official site:

Ron Howard to direct Han Solo film

Given his long history with Lucas/Lucasfilm, this seems like a no-brainer.

Thoughts?

How much is he going to reshoot? I say 75%.

I'm more interested and optimistic about the film with Howard in charge. I always thought that Lord and Miller were an odd choice for a Star Wars project.

Kathleen, Larry, and George have to be happier.

George I'm sure doesn't care. He might shake his gullet once in awhile.

Kennedy's job as steward was to vet the talent before beginning these projects. She figured out Trank before he started, thankfully. Deciding to fire your creative team 5 months into filming is entirely on her shoulders. The film should never have made it that far before realizing there were "creative differences"

I assume George cares about this one, because it's Larry's pet Star Wars project.

I agree that Kennedy is the most accountable. However, Lord and Miller could have faked the part of loyal followers until the start of shooting. I doubt they ever thought they could be fired.

You've got to think of all the films from Disney that this one is going to be the one that follows Lucas' and Kasdan's vision of what a "Star Wars" movie really is about, and what made Han Solo who he was. I'm sure LucasFilm wanted directors that will attempt to take that vision and put it on the screen and add something to it, but not stray so far from the roots that it's hard to tell it's a "Star Wars" film. Apparently these two wanted to put their stamp on it more than LucasFilm wanted, and thought they could flex their muscles at this point to make it so. Apparently they thought wrong.

I'm gonna say that having Ron Howard on the film might work, because from what I reason Star Wars News Net, Alden Ehrenreich went to Kathy and Kasdan to suggest firing Lord and Miller because he felt they were making Alden turn young Han Solo into Jim Carrey's Ace Ventura. So, if this is true, makes sense.

My thoughts exactly.

How does one let something get this far before realizing that it was the wrong choice? :what:

I often wonder what she is smoking. :weed:

Is it worse to make a change this big 5 months into filming, or to not make one at all and either release a turkey, or scrub all the work entirely?

The problem is that most of this thing has been shot.

What are they planning to do, film the whole thing over from scatch?

Ron Howard is a pedestrian director at best.

Is he magically going to create greatness out of scenes shot by two guys who were just fired for having no clue?

You can't polish a turd.
