Honestly his comments don't surprise me and don't upset me, and I actually don't disagree with them per se. The "white slavers" comment/metaphor/joke wasn't cool, but, following the man for so long it doesn't surprise me. Ironically he became a huge corporation, the thing he hated, in order to do what he wanted. Yeah, he does view giant corporate entities as "white slavers" in the sense that they will beat this thing down until it dies (i hope not) or run it into the ground to make a huge profit. This is what corporations do. Disney's simply a better option than the rest. He shouldn't have made the comment, but eh, doesn't bother me so much.

He's not sour about it, but I think this was just a really candid interview. Charlie Rose pushed him quite a few times too. I found it to be very fascinating.

How dare Lucas, even for an ultimately recanted instance, show any disrespect whatsoever toward the owners of our beloved and venerable mass media conglomerates!

Let's show a little reverence for the 1/6 of the companies that control 90% of our media.

All the crap and criticism Lucas has copped since the mid 90's, the guy makes one little joke and now they want to tear his throat out over it.

Not once has anyone ever considered what it might be like to walk in Lucas' shoes post 2012. They just keep tearing strips off the guy, like he's the world's worst mass murderer, when he's nothing more than a filmmaker who made a bunch of cool space flicks.
Walking away from something that was a monolithic part of your life for over 40 years, can't be the easiest thing in the world.
People only ever see one side and that's annoying.

Can anyone interpret what he actually meant?

So he's selling his black kids(star wars) to white slavers(Disney)?

That doesn't make him look any better than Disney. Piss poor analogy at best.

Lets remember that George has never had anything good to say about any major production company in the past so this really isn't all that surprising.

God I'd love to sit down and actually have a conversation with him.

I think he would make a fascinating friend but I hear he doesn't open up the inner circle often. Even employees at the Ranch have a standing order to avoid making eye contact.

Let's break down what happened: the man made a bad analogy in the middle of a conversation and corrected himself before he went any further with his remark. I'm guessing he's the first person to ever do so given the knee jerk reaction some have had to his comments.

I find that a little hard to believe and may be more a result of his shyness than anything else. I spoke (anecdotally, mind you) to someone whose kid went to the same school as one of George's for a number of years and they remarked to me that he was always very unassuming and cordial at school functions to other parents.
