There hadn’t been much of a slowdown as preparations were still underway over at Australia's Fox Studios as artists, set designers and other crew were busy prepping the film before the Holiday break but why hasn’t the cast been officially announced?

“Justice League is indeed in danger of not starting production on time and maybe even getting scrapped altogether” is what a studio source told the IESB last week. "The concerns are that the script is not ready to go in front of cameras, and also that the budget is getting a bit out of control, the WGA strike has proven to be Kryptonite to Superman and friends."

So while the cast is apparently locked, the studio has had to go back to the actors and extend their holds. IESB was told that at least two high level studio execs headed to Australia right before Christmas to try to resolve these issues and get the film get back on schedule.

“George Miller really wants this movie to be way big but the cast is 100% unknowns,” our source continues.

Another problem we are hearing is that some upper level execs including the new big boss Jeff Robinov is not too sure if the timing is right for JLA. Most of it has to do with the Nolan camp not being happy with the decision of moving forward with the JLA film considering the positive buzz surrounding The Dark Knight.

So what is going to happen? “The cast for Justice League is mediocre, the execs know it's mediocre, it's going to go down to wire on this one, this movie cold be huge but right now it's plagued with a couple of big issues and the WGA strike isn’t making things easier,” our source tell us.

So what's the final verdict on Justice League? I was having dinner this evening when I got a call from one of our moles over at Warner Bros. who told us, "Justice League has been pushed back to at least April or May and possibly a start date as late as June or July…that is of course if the movie doesn't get scrapped altogether."[/align][/spoil]

Word came down today that the film is officially on hold. This will be until, at the very least, after the Writers strike has been resolved. Right now it's looking like at least until June.

But for now, WB's Justice League live action movie is on hold!

Late last week, we brought you the news that a decision would be made this week regarding the status of the Justice League production and that the crew was preparing for the worst.

Well, it's a good thing they prepared because the worst has come.

Our source is solid, he's a crew member working directly on the production team down in Australia. He says the big meeting took place yesterday. They've decided on a one-week notice to all of the employees - this is a standard practice in Australian filmmaking as a courtesy when letting people go.

That means a lot of you can breathe a sigh of relief; while 'tabled' doesn't mean the film is officially canceled, it's likely that it won't be happening any time soon, and likely without that cast.

This concept needs to be taken more seriously the next time they decide to move on it. This entire attempt at producing a JLA story seems to have been thought through while watching an episode of the OC and getting really, really stoned. I was never the big DC fan, but to see the way they seemed to be treating this thing, I'm glad they didn't make it right now.

And Armand Hammer (the old dead one) was named after the hammer and sickle emblem of the Soviet Union. Because his parents were big fucking commies, btw. Which in and of itself has nothing to do with the actor. Maybe.

I've heard that Marvel wants to do solo Thor and Captain America projects before tackling an Avengers movie despite the fact that it's all Zak Penn seems to talk about lately.

DC should do the same. A solo Flash project or a Hal Jordan/Green Lantern would fit the bill. I'd kill for a Hal Jordan/Green Lantern film done right.

Nah, this combo team up movie bullshit needs to die, and die quickly.

Leave that tacky crap for the comic-books. I don't want to see a movie where one of the most unrealistic B-Grade superheros of all time team-up together played by B and C grade stars. Because that's the only direction they'll go with this idea as you'll never get a Bale into agreeing to do a movie like this and totally wreck the new-era Batman stuff.

So you can forget about the Justice League ever happening. If it's died once, it'll only come back if the 3rd Batman flick is a flop and/or they run out of DC Superheros to do solo movies of.

If the whole Aliens/Predator series is a benchmark for this kinda sheep orgasm crap, it proves that even when you do put iconic characters together, it's either a) never done right or b) ever done the way it should be.

Hence why this Justice League thing was doomed from the start, because they were rushing the script casting was god-awful and the alienated the ONE community (the Online/Comic nerds) that even thought it would be a good idea to begin with.

Here's a novel idea, why not look at making more quality casted/scripted movies LIKE Batman, to a lesser extent Spiderman and X-Men, but even their pretty average. The thing is, the heyday of Superhero flicks is coming to an end. I predict, it's going to be sooner than later. I personally believe the Hulk is sure sign of this, and with the horrible Spiderman 3 being terminated like a sick puppy and the last of the Batman flicks will be rolled out around 2010 Marvel and DC have a limited time to get their products into motion.

Which is why they were pushing the Justice League.

They've obviously figured out, that rather than calling it a day early, they'll put out 2 more years of Ironman, Batman and maybe another Spiderman or X-Men flick, plus a plethora of B and C grade comic movies made for the lowest dollar before audience saturation is at tedium level, and let it cool for a few years then roll out a Justice League to test the waters to see if any of the characters can make a comeback.

That way, they'll be able to afford a Bale Batman in a star-power type Justice League vehicle and you'll have your Flash, Wonder-Woman etc already established and prolly all looking for a buck by then because their respective movies will ineviatbly suck as their weak superheros to begin with.

Again, it's all speculation and my opinion, but mark my words the age of the Superhero movie is coming to an end like Fantasy films (and Sci-Fi) studios will move to other properties very soon to make event movies from.
