Did anyone watch this show? I had heard about it a while back, then caught the very end of it last night on NBC. From the 15 minutes of it I saw it looked pretty good. My wife (who questions sleeping with me whenever she finds me reading comics) watched the whole thing and said it was very good. If they can keep away from spandex and the cliche' campiness usually attributed to 'superheroes' in live action, this may do okay. What do you people think?

I watched it last night. It wasn't bad. I like the story of the guy who can fly, and the guy who sees thing before they happen. I thought the cheerleader part was kind of dumb. I hope that gets better. The japanese Nightcrawler mentioned X-Men last night which was pretty cool. Overall not bad for a pilot episode. I heard it gets better over the next couple of episodes. I've got nothing else to do on Mondays, so I'll tune in for now.

I watched the whole episode. It definitely looks interesting, especially the guy that can teleport and the girl that is wolverine-esque. I'll be watching future episodes.

Cool. I noticed it was on again tonight but I didn't get a chance to see it. However, the end credits I did see and they claim you can watch the entire pilot at nbc.com. However I haven't checked this out yet.

It's in the "rewind" section of this page http://www.nbc.com/Video/

Okay, sorry for the double post, but I've decided to like this show. And I hate fictional TV. I just wish they would start to pick up the pace a little quicker. And have the cheerleader turn 18 and become a nudist, asap.

I really want to like this show. I get about 20 minutes in and get bored though. I'll watch last night's episode again on nbc.com. Oblix is right. It is going to have to pick it up if it wants to keep my attention.

Thanks for the video. I didn't realize it, but the background music on this show is a bit reminiscent of "Scully misses the old x-files" a la' season 8 and 9.

Definitely has gotten better each episode. The Sunday night marathon definitely made me appreciate the first few episodes a lot more. I loved the Hiro from the future Subway car scene. Nathan taking off with a sonic boom in last night's episode was awesome. Definitely like some of the effects in this show. They aren't up to par with BG, but probably the best on network TV.

Right now, my favorite characters are Nathan (flight), Peter (mimic), Claire (regeneration) and Hiro (teleportation and time travel).

Yeah, I know I said earlier that I didn't like the cheerleader story. But after the autopsy scene, I changed my mind.

Yeah, Nathan's sonic boom/flight sequence was pretty neat. I was happy they didn't do some cliche' over the shoulder/pov shot and drag it out too long. Future Hiro was okay, a bit too cryptic, but interesting none-the-less.

I still like this show, don't get me wrong. But the commercial breaks seem to have doubled since the pilot episode. And it's good to see a show I like attract sponsors because of all the hype. However, as a mere viewer, watching it last night felt a lot like fucking a beautiful woman who keeps farting. You want to keep going, but there are the constant (every 6.5 minutes) interuptions where you just have to wave your hands around and wonder if it's ever going to ease up.

Allthough it could just be me, since the last network show I really got into on a weekly basis was Buck Rogers.

That's not just Heroes doing that. I also notice it for LOST. It seems that the more popular the show is, the less show you see weekly. It's funny how I can sit down and watch M*A*S*H* on DVD and each episode is like 25 minutes long. And then I can sit down and watch a DVD of Scrubs and it is 20 and a half minutes long. So over the last 30 years, advertising has taken another 4 and 1/2 minutes away from 30 minute shows on television. That is more around 10 minutes for hour long shows like Heroes and LOST. 1 hour shows are to the point now where you could actually show the episode in 30 minutes and then have 30 minutes of commercial breaks after it.

Not to mention it's election time, and half the commercials were campaign ads. Which is more like said beautiful woman dropping butt mud than farting I guess.

I really fucking hate commericals. Every time a commerical comes on I always hit the mute button until the show comes back on. I most of the time download TV episodes from the net now after they've been show the new episode since most of the time now people cut out the commericals for the downloads, which makes it nice. It is pretty stupid how commericals take up half of the hour for a show that's really about 20-30 minutes long, unless you have pilot episodes or a "2 hour" episodes.

I DL all my shows now. Folks will ask me, did I " see such-and-such commercial on Lost last night", and I'll just laugh and tell them I get my TV commercial free. You mean you're still watching commercials?

I would, but nbc.com only lets you watch the latest episode of the show. I don't really know how to/have the time to go about dl'ing tv from anywhere else. Allthough, if the rage-o-meter keeps getting pegged on monday nights I might have to change my tune on that.

One thing I had thought about this show earlier today, though. We have seen a lot of previously illustrated powers on this show so far; flight, pre-cognition, time travel/teleportation, etc. I hadn't realized it until now, but no one seems to have super-strength or a changeling ability. In all the interviews of the cast I have seen up until now, the idea that 'more powered people are going to show up later' seems to be common. Do you think anyone is going to Hulk out?

Also, I'm betting my own money in Vegas that the Sylar guy who seems to be the season-one baddy is also the crime-boss Nikki and Nathan have been blackmailed by. They never say for certain if thats his first or last name so who knows. I also wonder if Peters mimic ability is based on his proximity to the genes other powered people posess, as opposed to actually being near them as whole people. If the bad guy had this ability also, could be thats why he's stealing thier brains, maybe he's eating them and stealing thier powers for himself. Just my two cents.

Well, I think Nikki's other personality has some super strength because it looks from the previews for next week that she throws DL into a wall from pretty far away.

I'm personally waiting for the Cajun guy who charges up playing cards and throws them at people and they blow up. He also has a staff.

Okay, so this is still a decent show, but they seem to want to give me a.d.d. by skipping around in the story and cutting to commercial every 3.5 minutes. I'm starting to think about dumping this show until it come out on dvd. Too bad too because it's still pretty interesting.

Some things that do bother me though, I hope they get rid of the cam-ho. Her split personality thing is worn out and boring. Her family/story line isn't that bad, she just bugs me. Hiro is overrated. I like that whole character as well, but other than reacting humorously to things (and commenting in japanese/subtitles about his heroic journey blah-blah), he has really just failed continuously so far as his powers are concerned. They need to have him do something satisfying.

In fact it's kind of odd, but the only person that's even been saved by any of the Heroes on Heroes is the cheerleader. Sure, there was the kid under the stairs(saved twice actually, by the cop), and in the nbc.com "graphic novel" Nathan saves some woman from a fire. Other than that nobody has been very heroic, and it's ten shows into it. Kind of like the X-Files not working on X-files, or the people on Lost in Space being completely aware of where they are.

I'll still watch it though.

Get ready for a hiatus. After this Monday's episode, Heroes goes to reruns until January 22nd.

I liked the Homecoming episode. It was very hectic and was a quick hour of television. But I also liked last week's slowdown in Six Months Ago. Overall very happy with this show. 3rd favorite show on TV behind 1. Lost and 2. Grey's Anatomy.

Alright, Troy. Did you see last nights episode? Wow. I like the cliffhanger. Don't know what to think about the Dinosaur but the whole Peter seeing himself as the exploding man was cool. I am really into this show now. Jan 22 can't get here fast enough.

Are you on the list?

Yeah, last night was a decent episode. I dug it. Looks like maybe Peter and Ted the radioactive man are going to get too close. But considering he just ran into Matt (and Mr Bennet - who may have abilities we don't know about yet) the potential for this to be another cryptic warning for Peter about someone else is still out there. I think, storywise, Peter is the Hero of the series.

Peter should eat Sylars brain and run off with Claire. She'd probably be into it anyways, she looks like a Gilmour Girls fan.

This show is excellent. I read a spoiler on heroestv.com or somewhere that in the next episode they are going to introduce a guy that can turn invisible.

I'm curious as to how Peter saw into the future, given that he wasn't around anyone with that power when it happened. Well, only his brother.

Although he started seeming more ill when Clare visited him...that can't be her power, but her father was right nearby too.

Also, in the vision, the radioactive guy was nowhere to be seen. Which makes it hard for him to pick up the guys powers.

Still, Peters vision showed something had changed when compared to Hiros visit to the future...Isaac was holding that chick he dated (and Peter slept with), whereas in Hiros travel, Isaac was dead on the floor.

I think I read somewhere that the flame guy will be there and peter doesn't know how to control the power so that's why he "explodes". And supposedly in the next episode the invisible man will teach peter how to control his power.

If it's true it will be really cool to see. And if it's not, at least it will keep me thinking until the 22nd of January.

Update: New Episode tomorrow at 8:00. Superherohype posted this link to a 4 and a half minute preview the other day.

http://www.accesshollywood.com/news/ah3502.shtml

I like that the cheerleader is looking less and less like jailbait. Now I don't have to feel bad about wanting to nail her when she's of the legal age of consent. And if anyone in anyway connected with this show ever reads this, please get them to do something about Ali Larters character asapp because she still bugs the fuck out of me sideways even in the previews.

TroyObliX originally wrote:
In Peters "vision" there were a few things that made me think this was not a glimpse of actual future events. Such as Claire, running through New York in her cheerleader uniform. Matt, dressed up as a LA cop and trying to direct people away from Peter. Issac bear hugging Simone and holding her back. DL, Nicki and Micah, holding hands and running away. And all the empty driverless cars parked in the street as if everyone was evacuated, except for these oddly positioned Heroes. Then Nathan walks out and just stands there. If this were "real" events, wouldn't Nathan just grap him before he explodes and launch him before he goes all A-bomb?

As to how or why he would see these things when not in proximity to any of the precog characters, I'm not sure. And why was he getting sick and coughing/passing out anyways?
I hadn't heard the invisible man rumor before, but this does sound like a setup for Pete needing to learn to control his power. Obviously, if he doesn't, he goes boom. It will be neat to see what happens.

OK, so new episode tonight! Who do you all think is Claire's daddy? Somebody we've already seen or someone else? What show/movie is her mom from, I know I've seen her on other stuff, but can't place where from.

Apparently, the gal who plays her momma' (it is Texas, right?) was on Nip-Tuck.

And her father [spoil]is Nathan "my flys undone?" Patrelli. And he was in Texas in the movie Near Dark like 17 years ago, so it sort of makes sense to me. Kind of creepy how she was making goo goo eyes at "crazy Uncle Pete" when she visited him in jail, now, though. Eww.[/spoil]

previously,
TroyObliX wrote:

Yeah, not so much anymore. I'm betting she's the one who get's popped. Someone's going to die, allthough they've stated it won't be permanent. I hope they just kill off one of her two personalities, that'd be enough for me.

Oh, and [spoil]the evil general from 28 days Later teaches Peter he doesn't need to be around someone to use thier powers. Lucky bastard, I wonder if anyone's going to get Hero envy. [/spoil]

In seemingly pointless cameo news, Mr. Sulu plays a straight Japanese big-business weilding disapointed authoritarian father pretty well, too.

Great ep last night. I agree with Oblix on the Claire/Peter thing being all Luke/Leia in Empire Strikes back. It is creepy shit. Especially considering the way Peter talked about her after the 30 story fall. Which was the coolest part of this episode. The Invisible man is slowly becoming my favorite character, behind HRG. He was kick ass tonight too, busting open the door and taking shots at Sylar. Motherfuckin Haitian to the rescue!

Did anyone notice the number plates on Hiros fathers car? NCC-1701 or somesuch. The number on the USS Enterprise in the original series.

I don't know who is nerdier, the writers that put it in or me for spotting it.

Pretty good episode last night. Has Nikki broken away from Jessica? How come we have never heard anything else about Micah's parents knowing about his powers? Did I miss something after Micah gave his Dad the ATM money last week? I haven't heard anything about that. So, at this point, the whole Claire finding her parents is all for nothing? She finds her Mom last week, we know Nathan is her Dad, but now the Mom looks like she is leaving the show and Nathan and Claire didn't meet. What is the point of this now? Oh and Matt Parkman is the worst bodyguard since Kevin Costner.

Nikki has taken over from Jessica, and pretends to be her in front of DL and Micah. The kid did ask his folks last night if they were ever going to talk about them all having powers, but thats about it. I'd imagine his old man took the money with a smile and is remembering that ability of his sons for future reference. I doubt it's going to concern them in the PTA sense that he ganked the ATM. Unless he forgot to blank out the video.

The whole Claire finding her family bit seems kind of like a letdown, but that could change down the road. She did get a look at "Pops" Patrelli before he left so maybe when she runs into him again she will recognize him. The thing about that I found mildly unbelievable though was that she didn't demand to at least know his name. Not a lot of Patrelli's from New York hanging out in Texas just for kicks y'd think, and she allready met Peter. Her Mom just answering that question would have caused some kind of completely different outcome, but instead, the girl who desperately wants to know who her parents are doesn't even ask. Kind of sloppy writing there methinks. Unless they can make it worthwhile anyways, seems like a waste. I bet Sylar eats her Mom out, brainwise.

I'm guessing that Mr Bennet is this Linderman person everyone seems to keep interacting with but not seeing. And if he isn't, he must work for him somehow. Nikki works for Linderman, and now she's supposed to take out Nathan, allthough he owes Linderman like $4million, so wtf.

All in all, this seemed like a good (and question filled) "set-up" episode. Hopefully next week will be more progressive.

I'm wondering if Linderman is a villian like Lex Luther or something of the sort. Like he knows that people have powers, he uses the people that have "evil powers" to help with his diabolical scheme and what not. I really hope it's someone that we know, but never expected. Mr. B is to easy a cop-out for me.

What was the theme for next week? Someone will fly, someone will die?

Should be a good episode regardless. Does anyone know how many episodes are left till the season finale?

Next Monday's episode is Number 16 for the season and most shows have 23-24 episodes in a season. Also, the someone dies is suppose to happen March 5th (3 weeks).

I'm going with the notion that Linderman is an old rich guy that set up (or inherited) some big genetic experiment some years ago, and is now manipulating everything to try to monitor his experiments or to do his bit to help people develop their powers.

There is no way that he's being hidden and made to look this evil simply because he's a bad guy. They'll throw a few character curveballs at us once he is revealed (note that this doesn't have to be this season, it could happen at any time over the life of the show).

Nope. There are 3 new episodes over the next 3 weeks. They are titled:

Unexpected
Company Man
Like Any Parasite (March 5th death episode)

I would have to agree. In terms of character development and such, Peter is looking like one helluva badass. It's nice to see the story start to go in a different direction than Heroes just finding out they're Heroes. I like that the 3 teamed up the way they did and it will be cool to see how that develops.

Also way to go on not cheezing out the person who dies thing. I thought it was going to be that one lady with the supersonic hearing and thought what a waste, but when Pete's chick got shot, I have to say I was really surprised.

Definitely surprising about the death. Although I'm still hearing that March 5th will be another death to a regular character. What I love about this show is that no one at this point is really a hero. Everyone has had a bit of the "dark side" in them. Maybe Hiro is the only one that is absolutely a "good" person. Everyone else seems that they could go either way. Even Matt Parkman and Peter Petrelli.

^ I agree. And that's what makes this show so great. Most characters could really go either way (in a non homosexual way) besides the cheerleader and Hiro.

A possible spoiler that might come about March 5th

[spoil]March 5th death is possibly Simone. Yes, she was shot the other night but may not actually die until March 5th episode[/spoil]

Well that would line up with the rumor mill saying that someone "major" is going to die later in the season, but that is a gay way to go about it.

Does anyone read the graphic novels?

I read them. They are a little short and the navigation is mildly irritating, but for the most part they are worth reading. I think the term graphic novel kind of over-promises though, considering the fact that they are usually only a couple of pages. But if it makes them more comfortable than calling them comic books in front of the average fan, so be it.

I was pretty surprised that Simone caught the hot lead. I am still wondering if she really is dead. Issac is precognitive. He didn't paint anything that even hinted at him shooting the woman he loves?? The fact that he hasn't makes me think she lives. Allthough I haven't re-watched it yet so I'm still kind of froggy on the details of how it ended this week, I don't remember getting any confirmation she was a corpse. If anything, I think she might be a bit of a 'hero' herself. Early in the episode she was talking to Issac and saying something along the lines of "Call him" and the phone rang. She kept trying to give back the key, saying she felt like she just shouldn't have it, and there in her limp hand at the end, the key-that if she didn't have it she wouldn't have gotten shot. Also, at the end of the episode, she's is unconcious in the arms of a man who can control time, maybe he can go back a few minutes and fix things.

Basicaly, what all that was meant to say is that I'm not sure she's the death they were talking about. If anything, I'd bet Parkman gets it. His powers have done nothing beneficial for him, and now he's starting to get desperate. Just a guess though.

Peter can't go back in time, Hiro tried and failed, something about not being able to change the past. And Isaac said his recent visions focused on Peter, not other people.

The key in her dead hand I figure is just dramatic irony, focusing in that if Isaac had taken the key back then nothing would have happened.

Although I'm not sure how Peters vision of the future (where she is in Isaacs arms when he explodes) fits in with her death. Probably the way Hiros visit to the future (where Sylar has killed Isaac) fits in with Peters vision, ie, the future changes with each path followed.

I agree that it was a great episode, best one so far. The finally gave a kickstart to the storyline. Hopefully they don't decide to follow the lead of Lost and just throw out a bunch of stupid backstory episodes.

I like that cheerleaders dad is now going to have to come out and tell the truth. Really start to get some understanding of what is happening, although Haitian man might head over there and get in the way.

Also, either the writers have made Mohinder the most stupid character ever or they expect we know nothing about him in the early episodes. He knows of a mutant called Sylar who goes around killing other mutants. He has a strange mutant join up with him, they visit another mutant who turns up dead the next morning. Put two and two together. Plus the strange mutant is acting really out of it in the morning before they discover the body. Yeah, well respected academic my arse.
