Hi folks,
I'm talking about the last VHS non-SE release. Anyone have links to tv spots for those? How about packaging scans and in-store displays? Reason I'm asking is that, to the best of my knowledge, they were advertised as being the last time the movies would be released in original form. Am I right on that?

If so, those of us who bought them would have bought them under false pretences as the originals are now coming out on dvd.

Hence, we would be entitled to a full refund. See what I'm getting at here?

Good luck proving that releasing the originals later than 1995 was actually the plan all along, because that's the only way this whinefest has a chance of succeeding.

Is this gonna be the new thing for sheep everywhere? They get the originals on DVD, so now will they bitch about how GL raped their childhood TWICE by "lying" to them?

Fucking hell.

I wouldn't doubt that at all. It's very possible that will happen. Can't they just be happy with anything?

Even if that were true, it's just like Disney saying the same thing about all their classics. Get it now before Disney closes the vault on this classic forever. Only to have it released a couple of years later with something extra.

And the company could say that they weren't lying, that this is a new release because the last one was for VHS. All in all who cares. It's coming out, good news for everyone.

I use to have a button that had Vader's face with the "last chance" tagline on it.

"Last chance to own the original version of Star Wars."

Cool!
We actually own it now?
I didn't realise - for years I've been reading all this shit from fans talking as if they own it and can decide what happens next for the saga, and it turns out they did own it all along.
My apologies.

Can I suggest more suited Vader killing people.
That would be AWESOME!
Or have we done that one..?

"Last chance to own" ON VHS!

Therein lies the rub, as we say.

Yup there is always a way around it. I'm going to have to dust off the old VCR and watch the ad again. They are at my parents house which I will be there next weekend. If I get time I will capture it and upload it for those that want to see it.

No VHS, no Laser Disc. “The Final Video Release of STAR WARS in its original version”. You can read it on the Box Sets. And the Widescreen Version: “This Widescreen Edition also reproduces the Panavision format of the original theatrical releases, providing an extraordinary video experience.”

I can’t capture video, mmmm. But the audio is here:

Thanks for uploading the video. But I don't see why people are trying to make a point about "one last time". They'll probably be re-released on dvd more times, then on bluray and Hd dvd more times, and again for the next format after that.

And I don't have a problem with it.
