YOUNG SKYWALKER

June 17 2005

source: (AICN)

EXCERPT:

Rick McCallum, the co-producer of Star Wars the Revenge of the Sith, revealed the details of Star Wars TV series when he was at the press conference in Japan today. The article I read was from the Mainichi Shimbun (Mainichi Paper) web site, a reputable newspaper in Japan.

• The story will take place in about 20 year span between Episode 3 and Episode 4.
• It will depict how characters end up being together (didn’t mention who).
• The production will start next year, and the whole series will be about 100 hours long.
• 3-D version of all six movies “within two to three” years.

YOUNG SOLO

June 14 2005

source: (AICN)

EXCERPT:

I was scoping The Art of Star Wars, Episode Three this evening at the bookstore - gorgeous book, by the by - and stumbled on a snippet from one of the Sith concept artists, where he states that Lucas mentioned to them during the design phase that - though this will not be referenced in Ep. III - during the period of the Separatist invasion, Han Solo was living on Kashyyk, being raised by Wookies!

A buddy of mine who works at Fox mentioned a few weeks ago that he heard Peter Mayhew signed a multi-year contract with Lucasfilm before Sith. Could Chewie and young Han be featured on the T.V. show?

This shit fired my imagination. I had to pass it on.

Isn't that Peter Mayhew-contract rumour at least a year old? I'm pretty sure I heard that before...

Anyway, this is hardly a rumour, just someone thinking too hard...

I hope this is NOT TRUE.

As much as I like Han Solo, I wouldn't want to watch 5 seasons of Star Wars TV Series on this Wookie Planet... reminds me of the Ewok TV Series.

I would rather have the "Babylon 5" type of space adventures thrown in... with real humans and Star Wars aliens...

Jesus, how stupid are these people? George Lucas has said REPEATEDLY that the show will feature SECONDARY characters.

Han and Chewie do not under any circumstances fall into that category

AICN with "quotes" from Dick McPhallus about "the TV series being about the Adventures of Young Luke Skywalker".

That sounds really bad.

Didn't Luke want to leave Tatooine because he was so bored there? And if it focuses on him, how will they be able to even introduce any sort of Jedi/Force users in it, considering he doesn't even know what the hell a lightsaber is in Ep4.

Plus he's probably the second-most primary character in the saga.

It won´t. If he´s even in it, it´ll be one episode, all about winning a skyhopper-race or something.

Of course, I don´t really believe he´s even in it, but that´s the most logical "adventure" for him.

I wouldn't actually be surprised if "Dick" really did say this, however. When was the last time he told any truth about the prequels? Maybe he's actually Soopershadow.

Focusing on Luke? Wasn't farm life fucken boring? Didn't he want to get off that rock and go have a little adventure? This smells like shit to me.

Lucas specified that none of the MAIN CHARACTERS would be involved in the show. Last time I checked, Luke Skywalker was and still is a main fricken character.

Out of the vastness of the Star Wars universe, the infinate worlds and characters to choose from, he wants to focus on kid Luke blowing his beans for the first time on Tatooine?

Jesus Christ, I don't know If I can handle 100 episodes of that. I mean I dug the prequels and all, but this to me sounds like a waste of a great opportunity, if true.

I'm all for a series revolving around Leia. Her life should be fairly interesting in the lead-up to ANH.

I agree. In fact if you think hard enough about it, why would they get a tv actor to play a part like Bail Organa? Because he will be the central figure of the tv series. They wanted to have someone we knew and could connect to the movies and someone who obviously doesn't mind doing tv. Since I believe the show will focus mainly on Bail, and the beginning of the rebellion, Leia will at least have to have some parts in it. Not to mention that when Leia is captured by Vader in ANH it is not the first time that they had met.

I agree! Jimmy Smits would be the ideal person to star, followed by the chick who played Mon Mothma (whatshername) who's scenes were cut. If they get another actor for the part of Palpatine, I will be disappointed, after Ian's stellar performance in ROTS. Vader can be played by any big bozo, just make certain JEJ does the voice.

They could show us the final transition from ROTS Stormtroopers, the the Stormtroopers of the OT. I got the impression that some Jedi survive the purge in ROTS.

It would be great to see Quinlan Vos hiding out, maybe even fight the teenage Boba Fett? Vos' scene was never filmed, but made it to the animatic stage.

Shaak Ti's scene was filmed, but cut from the final version; could there be a reason why her scene was cut? Did she survive, and go into hiding? They could even include other Bounty Hunters like Bossk, Dengar, IG-88 and even the chick with the hot ass from the Pod Race; Aurra Sing to track down remaining Jedi, and kill them off...

I want more Alderaan. That place is beautiful.

I think the impact would be greater if we had a Star Wars: Alderaan series to watch before it gets blown up in A New Hope.

They never even mentioned the name Alderaan once in Revenge of the Sith. So, I guess we're just assuming that's where Bail took baby Leia. ;)

RE: the "we have no weapons" line...

I dunno if the SW canon has anything to say about it, but there are many EU sources that talk about how much political to-do going on there, as well as the fact that Alderaan was in fact a haven for Rebelllion personell and a smuggling point for their equipment.

Then again......

Let me refresh your memory:

"Episode III will show why they don´t use missiles in the OT!"

"You will see why Boba Fett hates the Skywalker family!"

Sure, Rick, sure. Now put the bong down.

If it's young Luke, fuck Star Wars. I'm done. Something tells me it would be all the worst parts of TPM.

"Yippeee!" screamed young Luke as he maneuvered skillfully mere inches above the canyon floor. His pubescent Gungan friend Liklik pumped both fists triumphantly, before missing yet another high five with Luke's alcoholic godfather Kitster. Luke was sure to beat Sebulba this time in the Beggar's Canyon Classic. Maybe then Uncle Owen would stop the unwanted sodomy -- at least for one more season.

I seem to recall AICN "confirming" a while back that it was going to be OLD Luke, and that Kevin Smith would be involved.

Utter BS. The TV Series will focus on Bail Organa toeing the edge of sedition in his dual role as Rebellion founder and Imperial Senator, or it will focus on people we have never heard of, and consequently, don't give a rat's ass about. The closest we'll get to Luke is possibly a "cameo" (is it really a cameo if it is some kid actor no one has ever seen?) on an episode centered around Jabba's crime syndcate.

Personally, Tattooine has been explored enough. I agree we should see episodes that make us actually care about Alderaan so I can stop shrugging when it gets blown up.

Ummm...hey...er...didn't McCallum most recently say that Lucas hadn't discussed the series with him at all; he hadn't been asked to participate, but that he'd love to? That he didn't have a clue as to what was happening with it? And aren't Knowles' gang usually completely, totally, full of shit? And haven't the other "details" in that "report" already surfaced months ago (a 3D version of the films...). In short, aren't most reports from AICN put together by bullshiting poo-pirates?

I think smuggling should be something covered in the series... it would help us to understand the Empire's control on the galaxy... help us understand the crime underworld... fits very well with Boba Fett, Jabba The Hutt, and would open the doors for a lot more villains and heroes!

I don't think we're any closer to actually knowing what the TV series will be about (Young Skywalker sounds like crap to me) but i think it would be a miss if there isn't anything at all which follows some of the potential Jedi survivors of Order 66. Y'know, on the run and helping out the needy of the galaxy. Like the A-Team but with Lightsabers. Kind of.........!

I am pretty sure that the Flanneled One already said it would be between III and IV. Events prior to Episode I would be irrelevant, and only appealing to KOTOR fans.

I think thats ridiculous that only kotor fans would dig a series taking place during that time. I think there is also alot of untouched ground there that makes for alot more scrip writing. Just showing more sith and all that would be very interesting, and I am not a big kotor fan. I only own #2

I own #1 it was fun at the time but a show set during that time? Sith would be cool but with the proposed series taking place between ep's 3 and 4 that will hold more interest for the casual viewers. Familliar suroundings with new or secondary movie charecters will get people into this series early.

This very bogus rumor has spawned from a misunderstanding. There is a 2 million dollar fan film (yes 2 million) being shot right now that has a young Harrison Ford look-alike playing young Han on his meeting with Chewie and their initial adventures together.

Doubting Thomases can kiss my ass when this thing gets released in 1-2 years.

I think it is ridiculous to think more people would rather see a bunch of over-the-top villains waving lightsabers around, thousands of years away from being relevant to the saga over the formation of the Rebellion. I would take a hypothetical wager with you on which one gets higher ratings any day of the week.

Your desires and my desires mean jack shit. George Lucas' de$ire$ are the only ones that matter. He doesn't care about "untouched ground there that makes for alot [sic] more scrip [sic] writing." He wants more money, and the best way is to put something on that will earn big ratings and thus, big advertising dollars.

I would much rather see the birth of the rebellion and the Empires hunt for the surviving Jedi. Boba Fett could be hired to hunt a few.

I don't want to see a 10 year old or see a 15 year old Han Solo befriending a Wookiee. Lucas redeemed yourself with ROTS - don't go back to where you were.

Star Wars for Adults, where it belongs. Let the kids have Teletubbies.

Hmmmm, I seem to remember becoming a fan when I was a kid. I must've been lucky then to enjoy it when I was oh, so young.

Anyway, most likely the show would focus on characters who have no impact on the grand scheme of things in teh saga as the movies focus on Anakin and his family's story. In turn, the series will allow us to have a glimpse in the other worlds and stories of Star Wars. I would guess they would involve minor characters from teh prequels and characters from the OT that wouldn't require the orginal actors to portray them(ie Boba Fett, the droids, etc). Either way, here is hoping the production value is high and that they nab Mr. Smits. :heavymetal:

If Lucas really wants the TV show to center around a "minor character" as he has publicly said, I think Boba Fett is most logical choice. His backstory has already been set up in Episode II so it would make perfect sense to follow him around the galaxy and see how he became the ruthless bounty hunter that shows up in the OT.

It'd make more sense if it involved Bail somehow, the tightening of the Empire's grip around the galaxy, the extermination of the remaining Jedi, perhaps having bounties placed on them that way we can have Boba Fett, Jabba and other mercenary characters appear maybe.

Sounds great!
They should create multiple stories that we will be following and will slowly lead into ANH.

I just hope they incorporate Boba Fett into the show some way. He's always been my second favorite character in the Star Wars universe(behind Vader) and I'd love to see a show focusing on him or at least featuring him regularly.

I could definitely see them involving boba, however, i don't think they would base a series around a villain it just isn't GL's style. Most likely bail and mon mothma and the rebellion. I would love to finally see alot of alderaan and coreelia and all those places we only had glimpses of or were just mentioned

When you start about planets there's almost no limit to all the locations they can come up with.

I'd love to see Corellia, Nar Shaddaa, Dantooine etc.

I agree with those calls for planets.

I wished we had seen Corellia in the PT there's only so much you can fit in.
