This is going to be a word for word transcript for the time being because it's getting late here, in fact it's 5am. Later I'll paraphrase the chat.
Q = Questioner
R = Rick The Dick
**********
Q thank you, Rick, for a fantastic movie all of them!
Will Dagobah be seen in the dvd version?
R That's a good point. I'll speak to George about it on Monday, because I'll actually be talking to him about it on Monday about the DVD
Q Is there ever any chance we'll see some kind of Extended Editions of the movies? It's so cool that you went back and finished some of those deleted scenes, and I'm guessing that might happen for Ep3 too but I think it'd be great to also be able to see them edited back into special versions of the movies!
R You'll definitely see deleted scenes in the Episode III DVD, but truthfully, I don't think you'd want to see them put in the movie, because there was a reason they were cut out.
Q Welcome back Rick, I loved the movie. I think that the first question on everyone's mind is what happened to Liam Neeson and Qui-gon Jinn in Revenge of the Sith?
R He never was recorded. It was certainly discussed early on and we tried some temporary lines with Ben Burtt doing the voice, but in the end we thought it was better without being so specific.
Q Can you tell us if there any tentative plans to release
all 6 films simultaneously on the big screen?
R To tell you the truth, we really haven't had the time to discuss that. For me, personally, I would love to do what we did in England which was to have everybody have the opportunity to see all 6 back-to-back.
Q Hey Rick, you da man!!
So here is the question: Since Mousy made her film debut in Episode III, will she be making anymore appearances on the big screen in the future?
R Fortunately, shes learned that it's better to be behind the camera than in front of it although she really enjoyed being throttled by Hayden. She wanted to do take after take!
Q A possible TV show was mentioned at C3 will you be involved?
R I really hope to be, and I hope that works out. But George and I havent discussed it any further. It's just been a mad six months!
Q When Anakin is killing the younglings, I didn't notice a tear in his eye.
however a few fans insist that it was there.
Were there some versions with the tear in his eyes?
R You should see it in as many different theaters as possible, just to be sure. And the answer will come to you.
Q Is it true that theres some talk about a prequel to the prequel?
R No. Absolutely not. although Pamela Anderson has expressed an interest to play Natalie's grandmother.
Q How was YOUR C3 experience? Glenn,Australia
R I had an absolutely fantastic time. I showed a 7-minute clip about 32 times over a two day period. In what little time I had, I had a blast meeting everybody there. Everyone was just so positive and excited.
Q so, who do you think created Anakin? Plagueis or Palpatine?
R For me, personally, Palpatine. But George only knows for sure.
Q By cutting the Nos Monster, ROTS ended the streak of violent evil monsters in Star Wars films. ANH with the Dianoga. TESB with the Wampa, Mynocks, and Space Slug. ROTJ with the Rancor and Sarlaac. TPM with the Sando Aqua Monster and other giant fish. AOTC with the Reek, Nexu, and Acklay. ROTS didn't have any. Any chance will get this as a deleted scene?
R Another good point. I'll add to my list of things to talk to George about.
Q How do you feel about ROTS's box office as of now? Are you especially surprised?
R I am surprised and am incredibly awed by it. It doesn't happen very often, and when it does, it's the most fantastic feeling!
Q now that all the films are done which one is your favourite?
R Of all of them, I still love Empire the best, i have to say, the last 45 minutes of Sith are almost perfect for me.
Q Rick, General Grievous was really cool! Do you wish you could go back and introduce him in AotC?
R Yes!
Q So Rick, how many times have you seen ROTS in the theaters? or have you not seen it but maybe once because you saw it so much through production? LOL
R I've seen it with an audience about 8 times in 8 different countries. And all together, probably about 160 times. That's why I'm still on medication.
Q Rick, why does Palpatine's voice keep changing during the Mace Windu fight and afterwards? He goes through like 4 different voices.
R He's just gone through some serious changes. And plus, we did so many takes, he started to lose his voice!
Q any tidbits you can share about the new Indy film?
R I know George is working on the script with Jeff Nathanson. He's been working on it for the last couple of weeks. He's very confident that he's going to be able to get a script that he, Harrison and Steven will all want to sign off on.
Q Hi Rick, did Palpatine "throw" the fight against Mace (loose deliberately) or was he beaten fair and square before Anakin came in?
R Let's put it this way, he's definitely faking it when he's knocked down on the window sill, saying that he's weak. But before that... I hope George says something on the commentary about that.
Q Rick what do you think of all those people who waited out in the rain over night to see GL?
R They're mad, crazy and outrageous and I love everyone of them.
Q What were Ewan, Hayden and Natalie's reactions to their first screening of ROTS?
R I flew to New York to show Hayden and Sam before the film opened and they just both went ape****. They absolutely loved it. Natalie saw it at the opening at Cannes with 1500 people in the audience and they gave us a 15 minute standing ovation. And Ewan had to go to the cast and crew screening in London because he was in rehearsal for Guys and Dolls, and he loved it too.
The best response we got was from Ian McDiarmid. He absolutely loved the film.
Q Now that Star Wars is over, what on earth is going to keep you busy? Ever thought about directing a film?
R I directed my first film at the AFI and in one 25-minute short, I destroyed the whole language of cinema, so I realized that was not going to be my gift. I would really love to see the Star Wars TV series make it so that there is another 100 hours of this incredible saga that George has created.
Q Rick, was palpy's crinklebutt look caused by the lightning or is it the true face of sidious?
R It was molded from my oh wait a minute. I think it's the true face of Palpatine. Of course, it takes a little lightning to get it out. Great question!
Q Does George Lucas have a 3rd franchise left in him?
R I would never underestimate the power of the Force. To tell you the truth, I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
Q Ever had a fan stalk you? Would you like one?
R It's funny you should say that, because something peculiar happened at Celebration 3. I had to go to the bathroom between a couple of the shows, and sure enough, twice, I was photographed peeing that's about as far as I have been stalked
Q Rick, what scene from Episode III makes you the most emotional?
R Hayden's barbecue.
Q Rick are u really irish?
R Scottish.
Q Rick, was it ever considered that Padme would NOT die in Revenge?
R Never. Her fate was sealed.
Q After your stellar performance in TPM why oh why were you not in RotS? Or were you and it was cut?
R I am it. In the opening space battle ILM rigged me up on a wire and I'm the clone that flies through space. And when I asked George why that character, he said "because in space, no one can hear you scream."
But that's me. And they kept me hanging in that suit for 8 hours, even when they went to lunch.
Q What's the deal with Bai Ling?
She says she was cut from the film because she showed more than the Force in Playboy
R No, that's not true. Had we seen her in Playboy before she WOULDN'T have been cut out of the movie!
Q Is Obi-Wan secretly an alcoholic? I think he is and a violent one too.
R No of COURSE NOT! I think he has a drug problem.
Q Hi Rick! I'm the one who asked, way back when, for a single word of dialogue from Sith and you revealed "I don't fear". I'm just wondering what your favorite line of dialogue in the movie was.
R I do remember that! My favorite line of dialogue is when Obi-Wan says to Anakin that he loved him as a brother.
R have to run once again, but I really want to THANK you all for your incredible loyalty.
I hope Episode III has finally brought peace to the galaxy!
