A clean slate is kind of necessary to develop new themes without all the baggage. I wish they could bring in Zahn to rework the Thrawn trilogy into the new mythos.

It would be nice. There are a few other elements from the later series, the Vong for instance, that I think we be good concepts, I just don't see it happening any more.

Apart from some conflicting info about the Clone Wars and the Solo children I don't see why it couldn't work in the new timeline. I never cared for the Vong but certainly other stories are awesome. I have always loved the Dark Forces Death Star plan heist and Dark Trooper project. But I guess that's the reality now, we can pick and choose what fits into our own interests regarding the canon.

Want to bet they call the eventual unaltered OT trilogy release "Star Wars Legends" or some shit like that?

Wonder why Shadows of the Empire story line or the Darth Plagueis novel aren't part of the canon?

I don't think they'd do that. Not if they really want to pander to the hard core fan. Besides, they're supposedly working on the original Blu Ray release, so they'd be shooting themselves in the foot.

as for killing the rest of the EU, it's a smart choice. They blanked out everything in the Sequel Trilogy that may conflict, so they aren't locked into anything. Given the overall quality of writers out of hollywood, I'm not sure they'd be able to write themselves around someone have a kid, or something else of the ilk. It'd blow their minds.
