Its about a month away and they haven't leaked yet. How early did we get the 2004 DVDs?

MF got the 2004 DVD Editions two months before the release in late July 2004. First the Return of the Jedi DVDrip/DVDR leaked to a chorus "lol no way".

In the Thundercracker out thread, DarthFirst said to something to the effect of the OUT set not leaking early because of the set being a re-release.
We'll have to be a bit more patient this time. Fact is, unlike the 2004 set, these films don't have to be classified again by any territory's classification body - cos they've already been released. Which means deadlines can be pushed out much later than last time. However, DLTs will be ready around July at the latest for a September release date, which means you can expect concrete news likely sometime in August.

Ron Epstein had this to say over that the Home Theater Forums:
I can tell you that it was announced to us that no review copies
will be sent to the Press due to piracy concerns.

Most of the early reviews will probably be from broken street date sales.

Piracy concerns more like bad reviews. :what:

The consensus will be "Buy these DVDs only if you absolutely have to have them"

Where's Criterion when you need em? :what:

Yeah, they don't need to send out review copies. They don't care.

In the UK they haven't supplied check discs for the films since AOTC. I got my hands on TPM and AOTC about a month before street date, but when it came to the trilogy release and ROTS they were having none of it. They alleged piracy concerns, but that didn't make a lot of sense as they gave check discs to reviewers in the US. Hopefully the retailer I'm getting them from will breakt he release date - they usually do.

A request: please keep a eye on sites like vcdquality.com.

When the OUT Bonus disc's are "released" please start a thread for each movie with .nfo's, samples, screenshots and torrent links.

With the Bill Hunt's Rumormill report, there are those who may want to try before they buy.

I know of at least one person who has the whole set, and mine have shipped. Shouldn't be long before they show up.

I've got 'em.

UPDATE:

Sorry folks but I've got some serious multimedia issues going right now. I think a rip is out of the question. :( I can, however, create screen grabs for comparisons. Let me know what you want.

The same user who posted thepiratebay.org torrent just upped it at demonoid.

Posted by the uploader CONTRA2 @ demonoid:
Yes, is PAL. I forget write this. Sorry again.

Coming soon The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. Pal version.
Posted by Inv8r @ demonoid who I assume is Inv8r_Zim here:
Just checked out the first VOB, and it looks pretty good. I'm not too worried about the further compression, because the WHOLE bonus disc, menus, demo for Lego 2 and all, only weighs in at about 6 gigs, hardly a whole DVD-9 anyways.

English and Spanish audio included. It's so funny to see the detail that was actually LOST in the SE restoration of the film (there are STARS in the opening shot of this version!!!!!!!!!!), and great to see the film the colour it was supposed to be, not that god-awful blue shit they released as "improvements".

I think I've finally got a replacement for my Moth3r discs!

Yar, checked out part of the first VOB, but haven't gone any further since I realized it was PAL (the player I ran the VOB through has PAL TrueSpeed to compensate for the framerate difference)...it looks good, I just haven't decided if it's going to be worth it to Dl the PAL version, then demux and re-encode to something that'll look and sound proper on an NTSC system.

Might as well just buy the things at that point. Plus the torrent speed is absolutely shitty right now with only one seeder. It does seem awfully strange that it's taking so long now after the street date for these to start circulation, though.

mininova.org: Star Wars IV A New Hope 1977 Original Theatrical DVDRip XviD-FRAGMENT

Judging by the torrent details and it's split rar archives this should be on usenet.
