SO... judging from these covers this will be a Special Edition of the 2004 Edition, plus the bonus Original Edition... ![]() |

![]() Those new covers are awful. What a kick in the nads. And I don't get why they're still pushing promo shots of the ROTS Vader onto OT material. |

I agree those covers do look awful. They look worse than the 2004 set. Hey at least we'll finally have the trims around the cases in gold instead of silver to match the Prequel cases! ![]() You'd think with this set they would have used the original cover designs. Ah well I'll still get it regardless. |

http://www.digitalbits.com/#mytwocents This shows the inspiration Lucas took for the cover art... When you see them in this context, the new covers are actually kinda cool IMO !! |

I think they look pretty ridiculous. I mean, why not just use the original poster art? Whatever. |

because most of us will just grab the original-version DVD's of the films, and include them with our other sets and replace the covers back on the disks and sell em on e-bay |

Anyone ever feel like we're buying these things every week? --- This new cover art makes me wonder, with tempered glee and salivation, what a PT-styled, CG'd and digitally shot CT would have looked like. |

--- This new cover art makes me wonder, with tempered glee and salivation, what a PT-styled, CG'd and digitally shot CT would have looked like. Uhhh, CT? What's that short for? EDIT- As for why they didn't simply use the original poster art for this set, the obvious answer seems to be (1) that there's no graphic design continuity between the three original posters and (2) those posters don't match the style of the SW DVD's released so far. |

Classic Trilogy, or the first three released SW movies. The digital and colorful vibrancy of these covers reminds me of how the cinematographic pallete in the PT was beautifully handled. |

The new cover art is a huge improvement from the '04 versions. They still should've used the original release artwork for each film. Who cares if they don't match, screw uniformity! |

I'm a huge fan of the original posters, but I still think these new covers don't look too shabby. My only complaint is that ROTJ shouldn't have had a drawing of Vader when the two others have photos. |

I think the OUT discs will match the PT and OT DVD covers a lot better this way than with the original poster artwork. |

The Struzan posters would make the best cover art. |

I'm not too keen on these covers at all. They looked rushed to me. I would have much prefered poster art or even newly commissioned artwork for the covers. But i guess they want to spend the least amount of cash on releasing this set Anyone noticed that they used a picture of Han Solo from ANH on the ESB cover? lol ![]() |

That's true, but it's because the covers are meant to harken back to original poster artwork for the OT and the Once Sheet for ESB which is being referenced features Han in his ANH costume. |

I know I'm in the minority here, but...I actually like these covers. At least, compared to the 2004 release ![]() The old ESB and ROTJ covers were....ugh. Way too much empty space for my liking... |

Drew: “Why do you use illustration to advertise and represent your projects? Computer manipulated photographs dominate the advertising of so many studios, but you continue to loyally choose illustration….” George Lucas: “The kind of movies I make are more fanciful in nature, more mythical in nature. To market my films, I like to move one step away from photo- realism to something that’s a little grander, a little more glorious, and something a bit more romantic than what you get with just simple photographs.” Link |
