In Return of the Jedi, Edor is referred to as a "forest moon." If Endor is a moon, then where is the planet it orbits? This is kind of a dumb and random question, but this is always something that has bothered me.

In Return of the Jedi, Edor is referred to as a "forest moon." If Endor is a moon, then where is the planet it orbits? This is kind of a dumb and random question, but this is always something that has bothered me.

So I guess you've never seen a shot of the Earth from the Moon? Or any distant moon from a paticular planet? You obviously have no hold on astronomical concepts. Not that you should even worry about that in a fucking Star Wars movie. Oh, and in the original ROTJ draft, Coruscant was called Had Abbadon, not Utapauh (which was from the original Star Wars scripts, If I'm not mistaken). |

Well, I didnt answer your question, but some of this info might be found interesting non the less.
I've been a Star Wars fan for as long I can remember, but I've yet to find these elusive script drafts that everyone talks about. Where can i get my grubby little hands on them? |

Not that you should even worry about that in a fucking Star Wars movie. I have seen shots of the Earth from the moon and Earth looks a hell of a lot bigger than Endor. Also, the forest moon would have to be one huge ass moon because it's gravity appears about the same as Earth's.

I think it says in fact-books that the Endor moon has less gravity than Earth, and that´s why the trees can grow so tall there. |

Like Arthur C. Clarke once said, "Different problems, different solutions." Fact or fiction, there's no telling how big or little or how close or how far a moon has to be from the planet it orbits. In the film itself, even without further explaination, there is a planet in one of the first shots in Return of the Jedi. We can safely assume that it's the planet to which Endor belongs. No big deal.

A lack of realism here... The Death Star 2.0 was so massive and so close to the Forest Moon (Ewokia?) that its explosion would have wiped out all life on the planet. Perhaps the Ghost Jedis used the force to shield the planet...
