There seems to be a lot of negativity directed at people who prefer the original footage of Shaw (and the original releases in general). Some of you happen to prefer the new Hayden footage, but I, like many others, believe that the original footage is superior from an emotional point of view. Lucas himself has said that the whole saga is about the redemption of Vader, so thematically it makes more sense for him to appear as an old man after having redeemed himself by killing the Emperor. Granted, by looking like Hayden he appears at a time just prior to his descent into darkness, but the change just doesn't sit right with me. For one thing, it's hardly a good message to send - spend a good portion of your life doing evil, only to repent near the end, then live out the afterlife in your twenties

I also think they did a poor job technically, at least with Hayden's expression. But then I'd take Lapti Nek over Jedi Rocks any day of the week.
We all know that Lucas is making these films up as he goes along. It would be impossible for him to map out every little bit of the saga in detail (regardless of what he's said previously). It's just a pity that he didn't make the prequels conform to the original trilogy, instead of doing it the other way around. I'm of the opinion that the films don't need most of the new CGI dance routines and the like, but I understand that there are those who prefer this to the old footage. I don't agree, but you won't hear me telling you that you should come around to my way of thinking.
I guess it's a testament to the popularity of these films that they still cause people to slag each other off on the internet. Personally, after watching them again, I find it hard to enjoy them as much as I used to.
