There seems to be a lot of negativity directed at people who prefer the original footage of Shaw (and the original releases in general). Some of you happen to prefer the new Hayden footage, but I, like many others, believe that the original footage is superior from an emotional point of view. Lucas himself has said that the whole saga is about the redemption of Vader, so thematically it makes more sense for him to appear as an old man after having redeemed himself by killing the Emperor. Granted, by looking like Hayden he appears at a time just prior to his descent into darkness, but the change just doesn't sit right with me. For one thing, it's hardly a good message to send - spend a good portion of your life doing evil, only to repent near the end, then live out the afterlife in your twenties ;) I also think they did a poor job technically, at least with Hayden's expression. But then I'd take Lapti Nek over Jedi Rocks any day of the week.

We all know that Lucas is making these films up as he goes along. It would be impossible for him to map out every little bit of the saga in detail (regardless of what he's said previously). It's just a pity that he didn't make the prequels conform to the original trilogy, instead of doing it the other way around. I'm of the opinion that the films don't need most of the new CGI dance routines and the like, but I understand that there are those who prefer this to the old footage. I don't agree, but you won't hear me telling you that you should come around to my way of thinking.

I guess it's a testament to the popularity of these films that they still cause people to slag each other off on the internet. Personally, after watching them again, I find it hard to enjoy them as much as I used to.

So he should've dug up Sebastian Shaw's body and put makeup on him to look like a young Anakin?

I don't really want to argue why Lucas did the changes, to me it's obvious as to why (besides making some extra money). When the original series was made, the theology was just honestly not there, not like it is today. To have the entire saga flow together, there were changes that needed to be made. You can't make movies the way GL does and not expect flaws, he had to minimize those as much as possible. Also to get the non die hard fans to buy the original trilogy again for the "3rd" time, he had to throw in a few bones.

I don't mind the new changes, I am not going to whine or bitch about em. Course I only care about being able to watch all 6 films, back to back at home, and hopefully avoid those pesky logic flaws.

So far the only flaws I need to have answered involve Leia's line of "My mother died when I was very young", and Anakin not knowing about the twins. Hopefully the questions are answered in EP III, I know the not knowing of the twins will be, but I doubt the explanation of Padme being with her daughter long enough for her to remember her, that one will always be there.

But I don't honestly understand the bickering about it, if you don't like the changes or if they bother you that much, you don't have to buy the new set, and you can still view the originals. The changes were not thrown in to piss everyone off, they were put in there because of the theology and connections between the originals and the prequels. When the originals were made, I doubt the perameters involving the force ghosts or other shit were even thought about, at least like they are today.

As far as the the replacement of Boba Fetts voice with Jangos, well they are clones after all. It is just another small detail to help connect the characters.

Just my 2 cents anyways.
Besides I never had a connection with Shaw, he was a face and a ghost at the end. I have more of a connection now with the Hayden replacing Shaw. It just ties it in for me.
